After being so impressed with Book One of the Spotlight Tales I decided to give this one ago. The first chapter got me hooked, and I really enjoyed meeting all of the characters, trying to work out which one of them could be the Poisoner. This is a very well-told tale, with interwoven stories and unexpected twists. Hovering like a dark cloud over the actions of all of the characters in this tale is a menacing threat, brought on by the protagonists themselves. How it ultimately turns out - well, you'll just have to read it! I can't see a third story in the Spotlight Tales, but if S Pearce plans to write one, I'm definitely getting it!

Exit Velocity by Simon Pearce is the 2nd short story in The Spotlight Tales. I was kind of worried that I wouldn’t be able to keep up since it had been a while since I read the first book. However, the worry went away immediately because these are standalone stories. This story begins with an unknown person trying to find the perfect mix of poison and candy. His plan is to distribute this candy everywhere to inflict maximum devastation. The book then goes through multiple points of view. They can be a suspect or a victim.

For a story that is less than 100 pages, it really accumulates a lot of suspense. None of the characters are safe which will keep readers on edge. Even though each section focuses on one character the tale weaves together perfectly. Also, all the characters are realistic and far from perfect. They all have their faults which makes none of them safe.

If you are looking for a quick suspenseful read, then this is it! This story was so good, that I immediately jumped into book three! I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars!

Sometimes, but not often, a new writer pops up from nowhere who is gifted with natural talent. Mr S Pearce has talent by the bucket load.

In this, his second book, I'm reminded of the old school essays we had to write about the adventures of a penny as it changed hands. In this case, the pennies are deadly poisonous sweets! As the story daisy chains between the lives (and deaths) of all those effected, we're left to work out which of them is the perpetrator.

Exit Velocity is a marvelous whodunnit, well written, quick to read, and engrossing. Highly recommended.

“Exit Velocity” by S Pearce ISBN- 13: 978-1985261938 (second of the spotlight tales)

Turning out a follow up that readers will enjoy as much as or even more than a scintillating debut novel must be one of the most difficult tricks in the game. For me, with “Exit Velocity,” the second book in the Spotlight Tales series, author Simon Pearce didn’t quite make it but he came remarkably close. In his first Spotlight Tale, the simply brilliant, “Mo,” the focus is on racial discrimination, the sometimes brutal transition from childhood to adolescence, the lack of communication between generations and radicalisation of innocent youth.
In “Exit Velocity” the light shines on squalor, on sloth, on greed; on Man’s contempt for Man and his general abuse with filth of the environment on which he depends for existence. In essence the book is a traditional whodunit that keeps the reader guessing from beginning to end but yet one that reflects the gathering storm clouds of calamity on a global scale. A poisoner is at work – surely mirroring Man’s poisoning of the whole world. The poisoner’s method? Adulteration of complimentary confectionary distributed widely and frequently replenished. His intended victims? Anyone and everyone but in particular the greedy, those who take more than their share, for one sweet won’t kill or two or even three but greater numbers most certainly will; slowly, inexorably, painfully without the victim realising what is happening until too late. His motivation? A chip on the shoulder, that and general anger at and a dislike of his peers.
It is a disturbing tale, a salutatory tale with good characterisation, brimful with people that the reader will feel that he or she knows, and told in simple straightforward language that made this reader at least reflect in some depth on what mankind is doing to his world. Why did I not enjoy it as much as its forerunner, “Mo?” Simply because “Mo” left me on the edge of a void with the adrenalin flowing in torrents while “Exit Velocity” left me deep down in the void, depressed and fearful that Man has left it all too late to avert the gathering poisonous storm. Even so “Exit Velocity” is worth five stars. No doubt about it at all.

Title: Exit Velocity (The Spotlight Tales Book 2)

Author: S Pearce

Publisher: Amazon Asia-Pacific Holdings Private Limited

Number of pages: 112 pages

Exit Velocity is the second book in The Spotlight Tales Series. The book is written by the prolific author, S Pearce.

Have you ever read a novel without realising that you have reached the very end of it? Exit Velocity by author S Pearce will leave you wondering about that and a lot more.

Have you ever read a novel wherein, you turn the pages, re-read chapters, just to get to the bottom of the suspense thriller? Please read Exit Velocity to feel the thrill of re-reading portions or the entire book and digging out the truth.

Exit Velocity by author S Pearce reminded me of my days in college when as a student of Criminology; I look and re-looked at pieces of evidence to find the answers.

I have never enjoyed a book so much! It is not only a suspense thriller but a book that looks into the complexes and short-comings of people. The book talks about how decisions can be fatal and irrevocable. Exit Velocity by S Pearce is a book that will tell you about how people succumb to little temptations. You will learn why revenge is more powerful than love. The novel will also tell you about why people rationalise all their wrongdoings.

The feeling of persecution is often associated with adjustment issues and denial. Author S Pearce effectively touches upon this subject.

Exit Velocity made me question two things:

1. Do all good things come in small packages?

2. Is everything sweet, wonderful?

The book is so gripping that you will not realise you have reached the end. The clues are interestingly revealed. Each hint is subtle. If you lose focus, you miss out on a hint. But I am sure, the book involves the reader to such an extent that losing concentration is impossible.

Honestly, it is one of the best suspense thrillers I have ever read. I pride myself for identifying the criminal in the first chapter of any suspense/thriller/mystery. This book kept me not only guessing till the very end, but I also re-reading portions of Exit Velocity to identify the culprit.

The tone of the book is complaining and is just right for the subject. All the characters in the novel lament and have passive aggressive thoughts. It sets the mood of the book. The dark clouds the author talks about in the last page of the book looms on the readers from the very first page.

Author S Pearce’s book Exit Velocity is not only entertaining, spine-chilling and engrossing. It is also full of information. That makes the novel Exit Velocity an informative suspense thriller.

Does Exit Velocity by author S Pearce deserve anything less than the full marks? No, absolutely not. The honey-filled suspense thriller Exit Velocity written by author S Pearce is exemplary. WeLoveQualityBooks gives this amazing, sensational, adrenalin pumping novel, Exit Velocity, nothing more and nothing less but 5 Stars.
