Murder, of Course by Diane Weiner is the second installment of the Sugarbury Falls series.
This particular series is really good. Retired couple Emily and Henry move to Vermont, looking for some peace and quiet.
Life in this idyllic setting is peaceful, until a neighbor bangs on their door and the married duo find themselves wrapped up in another murder investigation.

What I love about this series is the author's ability to make her characters come to life.
There is nothing more important than characters that a reader can relate to and a good, solid mystery to solve.

I have been a fan of Diane's books from the beginning.
What I also like is her creativity to incorporate her other characters from her other series, featuring Susan Wiles.

Mystery fans will love this series.

I voluntarily read an ARC of this book provided by the author.

Murder of Course

Loved returning to Sugarbury Falls.

Emily and Henry Ford, are trying to get their new "daughter" settled in with them. Maddy,is the daughter of Emily's college roommate, who died and left guardianship to the Foxes.

As Maddy's adjusting to a new life,Emily is trying to adjust to the new chair of her college department. Mar is running the department like a factory.
In between, there's a murder of a lawyer in town for cat auditions, for a commercial.
Then Emily gets a call from Mair's ex,accusing her of murdering their son.
Emily and Henry now are working two murders along with the local cops.

Great writing and love the characters.

This book is excellent!!!!

10++++ stars!!
Wow, what a mess when money is involved!
There are 4 people wanting to keep secrets for money doing anything.
There is blackmail, kidnapping, messing with evidence and 4 murders.
Emily and Henry find themselves in the middle of it all at different times through this book. I read this book in 2 and a half days, not sleeping much.
I have been reading this series in order and i have to say these books are getting harder to put down.
YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED!!

Absolutely delightful. An older couple move to Sugarbury Vermont for quiet. Unfortunately there’s a murder which wasn’t part of the plan. A definite don’t put the book down.

Not so cozy, cozy book mystery! So good!

If you were looking for a new Siri‘s with likable and lovable characters and those you love to hate, LOL moments and plots that will keep you up at night Sugar Berry Falls is that series. Don’t get me wrong this book is funny and silly with equal parts intelligent not to mention it is not so predictable as most cozy mysteries are. I love this author and love this new Siri’s. I love it so much this is the second time I’ve read this book LOL!

Murder of course

This is the first book of Diane's I've read but it won't be the last. I loved all the twists and turns she has. After I finished the book and read about her, I saw she too was a Mary Higgins Clark fan! We're gonna get along just fine! Thank you Diane!

This new series by Author Diane Weiner is my favorite. Her first book, A Deadly Course in the Sugarbury Falls Series introduced us to Emily and Henry Fox who moved to Sugarbury Falls to kick back a little from their city life. Murder of Course continues on with life in Sugarbury Falls but as we all know small-town life has its secrets and its issues too. Emily and Henry find that out when a murder happens almost next door. Add a teenager, animals and good characters and you have a mystery worth reading. There are surprises at every turn.

This series is my favorite of Diane’s books. There is something about Sugarbury Falls that makes me wish I could spend some time there and meet the people who live and work in the community, perhaps even the murderers. The mystery is well written.

Murder, of Course was easily my favorite book by Diane Weiner. This was the second book in the Sugarbury Falls series. Murder, of Course is a feel good mystery with twists until the very end - which I’m slowly learning is the author’s style.

I listened to this book on Audible and can’t to listen to the next book in the series.

Love conquers all

Great series. Guardians for a teenager have ups and downs. Uprooted Maddy finds herself a project and is fitting in. Uncle Malcolm shows up to take Maddy to Scotland but something is amiss. Go get it!

Wow, I just loved this book. Not only is there a good mystery balanced out by family drama but they is lots of cats, what's not to love? I like the characters but I think it is the mystery that really works for me. The author has weaved a clever plot where two mysteries unfold. Also the author had me looking in the wrong direction throughout the entire book for the main case, but thinking back on the story there was hints that should have given me a clue, I was just too busy thinking the killer was obvious. I might just have to re listen to the story and pay closer attention. It must have been all the plans for the Cozy cat cafe that distracted me, it just sounds delightful. This is book two in the series and in a way does continue on from the first book as Maddy learns how to cope with her new family but it is written well enough that it could be listened to as a standalone but why would you want to miss out on the rest of this fun series? And as it takes place in a small town we have met many of the characters already. I hope the author has plans for a lot more books in this series.
Emily and Henry's newly fostered daughter isn't coping very well going to a new school where she doesn't know anybody. Emily is also struggling to get on with the new head of the department, so the last thing Emily needs is to be informed that there is a dead body in the rented cottage next to there house. The dead lady was a lawyer here to enter her cat into a competition to find the next kitty to feature as the cat food mascot. Hoping to cheer up Maddy, Emily enters into the cat competition but learns that one of the contestants might have had a motive to kill the lawyer. Was she killed over who she defended as a lawyer? Or is it complicated than that? Just as Maddy is coming out of her shell and finds something she is passionate about a long lost uncle turns up, ready to take her back to Scotland with him. Emily and Henry have there hands full trying to find a way to keep Maddy with them like her dead mother wanted, do they really have time to find a killer? Can Emily also find away to get rid of the new head who is making everybody's lives miserable?
I liked the narrator. She has a nice sounding voice that she uses well to tell the story and each each character there own voice.
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Short, Sweet Cozy. Why 3 Stars? See Last Paragraph.

I enjoyed this quick-read cozy, which is well-written and nicely plotted. Author Diane Weiner hits all the right notes in the contemporary cozy by sticking to the tried-and-true Do-list and avoiding the Don’t-You-Ever list.
Emily and Henry Fox—and “daughter” Maddy—are likable, well-written protagonists, who have wonderful neighbors, friends and adorable fur-friends. The couple “help” the local police find a stalker, a housebreaker and a murderer.

There are heart-warming, serendipitous discoveries that advance the story, and happily, there are enough red herrings—a few blatantly unlikable. As always when reading cozies, I kept a gimlet eye on “outsiders” and newer residents, but the author takes the other tack found in cozies, some soft-boiled and (annoyingly) in a few hard-boiled crime books. No spoilers, but if you’re a mystery fan, you’ll see it coming.

Warning: If you are uncomfortable with LGBT and/or anti-hunting issues, I suggest you skip this book.

I knocked off stars, because I could not believe the premise for the last 20-25% of the book. How can a teen over 14 yrs of age have no say in her guardianship? Emily was named as Maddy’s legal guardian, in late-mom Fiona’s will—not an uncle whom Maddy had never met. Furthermore, Emily and Henry have in loco parentis standing, plus they’ve begun the adoption process.
Either I don’t understand how guardianship works or Vermont’s laws are different.

Good, but . . .

I enjoyed the book, but someone needed to read the story and fix the numerous errors. Having to reread a sentence, paragraph, 2 or 3 pages to determine what the author meant to say spoils the story. I do not recall so many errors in the first book. For example: the last paragraph in the book Emily gets up and tells Henry and Emily good night. A page earlier, the police arrive in a plane, when they came in a helicopter; which is confirmed a few sentences later. The author could not stick with dates. Was the cat cafe to open the weekend before Halloween, or after. It changes. Throughout the book the story was ruined for me. At this moment I am not sure if I am going ahead with the next book.

Another Intriguing Mystery

I love Diane Wiener's mysteries, they have so many twists that make them really exciting. Emily and Henry had a lot of help from their friends working out all of the details of the murders, deception, and lies. All of the characters in this story are linked together by a strong bond of friendship which makes it exceptionally heartfelt. I loved the way that it seemed like it was all figured out, when in reality it was way different. And more than one surprise ending was coming. Great adventure.

Ridiculous Ending

Not only the ending but the cat cafe things was silly. Okay the min characters are cat lovers but fr the big opening to be such a big event people are lined up to attend. The folks o Sugarbury must really dull lives. There are a few other story bits that just are to unrealistic. The way Hank and ‘Em rod around they coul. E arrested for trespassing, unlawful entry to a crime scene, etc

Nonetheless, it still was an Kay read but I hope future stories have more realism.

Excellent cozy mystery

This is the second book in this great series. Story line keeps you in suspense right up to the last chapter. The characters become like old friends and Sugarbury feels like a real town. I'm anxious to start reading book 3 catching up to the Fox's and their next mystery.
