SEO can be complicated when you go seeking for your own answers. This is a perfect little one-stop, short guide for beginners who just need simple basics to get them started. Even after doing SEO for years, I’ve always fumbled with optimizing my images and just really haven’t had time or patience to go seeking out my own answers — even though I’ve known where to look. All the answers plus links for more info were here! No more excuses for me.
This book used to be a blog post, although the blog post had 20 tips and the book has 25. It is very short, and the actual content ends shortly after the halfway point (there is then a sample of the author's 30-Day Book Marketing Challenge).
Thompson starts by explaining what SEO is and why it is important to bloggers and authors. I had read (and reread) the older blog post several times, but I still found several areas in which I can improve. What's especially good is that the author provides links as well e.g. she says it's important to have a great headline, then links to the Coschedule Headline Analyzer.
Yes, SEO experts will know all this stuff. But I've read blog posts by some of these experts, and they are borderline unintelligible, or go into a lot of detail about things that aren't relevant to book bloggers. I like Rachel Thompson's simple, no-nonsense style, which is easy to understand and implement. It's a short book, but not expensive, and definitely worth the small investment.
Thanks to the author for providing a free ebook for review.
If you're blogging on a Wordpress site, you can't do better than this handbook of precise, practical, necessary tips to make sure your blog gets found often and in the right places … that is, a handbook for better SEO. Rachel Thompson gives simple, clear how-to-do-it tips, and explains why the tip is important to follow. I was surprised to find SEO no longer scary and very glad to see that I could work on one or two tips at a time to improve my overall blog SEO success. The links to useful places to get tools to improve the process are a godsend. I keep this nearby when working on a post--so easy to grab the tip I need. I'd call this little book Absolutely Necessary for bloggers! p.s. If your blog is not on a Wordpress site, the tips are still golden, you just have to figure out how to do them on your builder.
As an author and blogger SEO optimizing was something that has always confused me especially since what works can change frequently. After reading this short book by Rachel Thompson I feel like a path has been cleared and the confusion has been removed. She offers a step by step guide on how to optimize your blog posts and websites so that it is easy to do and even more importantly understand. This is a great pair with the 30-Day Marketing challenge and is a must for any serious blogger. It's not a long read and short enough where it's easy to refer back when needed without feeling overwhelmed by information.
It's all baby steps and things take time but with this book, I know what to do and how to get started being smarter with what I do.
Thank you, Rachel Thompson, for writing this how-to search engine optimization (SEO) for blogs. I’ve wondered how I could improve my blog’s SEO. Though I already do some of what Rachel suggests, I now know will do more. I’m a fan of Rachel’s blogs at rachelintheoc.com and badredheadmedia.com. As a mental health advocate, I appreciate the work she does on behalf of sex abuse survivors, and I have bought and read her essay collections.
What is SEO and why is it important? Simply explained and 25 steps to utilizing it. Helpful for authors and bloggers. And includes some chapters of another book of hers. It is a great reference.
Full of practical how-tos for maximizing your blog hits, easy to understand and easy to implement. I’d recommend this to anyone who wants to increase the suffix to their website/blog.
