Wounded. Alone. Wanted for a murder he didn't commit.
Stefan Mendoza is a broken man. The last thing he cares about now is revenge against the people who betrayed him. All he wants is peace. To hide out, he returns home to a town that seems isolated from the world collapsing around him.
But can he really escape the world of the Agency? Can anyone ever really go home again?
Strap in for Gone Dark, and get started on this unforgettable, fast-paced cyberpunk thriller.
I was born and raised in Tampa, Florida. I joined the Air Force, and my career took me from coast to coast before depositing me in the St. Louis, Missouri area for several years. After a tour in Korea and a short return to the St. Louis area, I retired and moved to the greater Denver, Colorado metropolitan area. I write speculative fiction, mostly science fiction and fantasy. My favorite writers over the years have been Robert E. Howard, Philip K. Dick, Roger Zelazny, and Michael Crichton.
I like reading PR Adams books and this one was no exception. It is book two of the Stephan Mendoza trilogy (I haven't read book one - so I cannot compare or comment about the links between the two stories). There are quite a few different characters in Gone Dark (The Stefan Mendoza Trilogy Book 2), who were obviously in the first and therefore there is history between them. This is covered well by PR Adams, so it doesn't matter so much if the first story got missed.
Mendoza goes back to his home territory in this book and holes up to recover himself and get upgrades body-parts (the non-human bits anyway). While there he reconnects with people from his past and rekindles past relationships (both bad and good).
There is something going on under the radar in this story and Mendoza has to work through solving this. His 'contacts' from his previous escapades join him as he works his way through a maze of on- and off- line situations. Always under pressure and more often than not under some sort of attack.
I found this world engaging, rough edged and different. The characters are well rounded (in the way that they are written at least) and the story drew me along with it. I will certainly be interested in reading more.

I received an e-ARC of this novel from the author in exchange for a fair and honest review.
Holy cow, what a ride. This 2nd book in the Stefan Mendoza series picks up right after the first book. The pace is fast and furious, with more of Adam's fantastic world building and believable characters. The lead character, Mendoza, is a mercenary who just wants out of the intrigue and danger, but he never seems be able to pull it off. Nearly everyone wants him dead. I enjoyed seeing the cast grow and evolve, especially Chan.
I'm also looking forward to the third book of the series to see how it all ends.
Adams Apples #2 Stefan Mendoza #2 Second in the series and well it was average entertainment I guess, it never really grabbed me to be fair, and won't be remembered for long. I have the third book so I'll probably work my way though that one, but after that, well we will see!
