Dreams Manifest starts off with the introduction of the Juggernaut species. They are a bug-like species. The closest that I can come to describing them is that they reminded me of evolved beetles. The main Juggernaut that we are introduced to is Brague. Brague is a Selector. A Selector in their society is someone who scouts out planets where the Princesses and Queens can lay their young and raise them. Az’Unda is the next planet on their list. I was a tad creeped out by telepathic evolved beetles. Made me look at the beetles I see outside differently…lol.

As for the main storyline with Rai, that starts off almost immediately after The Dream Sifter ends. Rai and Graeber are still at odds. Graeber has told Rai a little more about her past. Her Septmates are wary of how Graeber is treating Rai. That soon passes onto Rai herself when she refuses to tell them exactly what is going on with Graeber. It is during a heated exchanged with Ponar, that accidentally run into Brague. Rai and Brague make contact, with Brague being very surprised that she can mind speak with him. Unfortunately, that only drives the wedge between Rai and her Septmates even deeper. Running from Brague, they make for Jeweled Cove. It is there that everything catches up to Rai. She does something unthinkable. But in that unthinkable act, she finds something both fantastic and terrifying. Something that could be used to save Az’Unda from the Juggernauts.

If I had thought Rai was strong in the last book, she exceeded my expectations in this one. She was so strong, except that one time. But even after she returned and found Graeber, she was strong. She had to be. I mean, look at what happened to her.

I thought the way the storyline about who was poisoning the berries ended perfectly. I had my suspicions about who it was. So when it turned out to be that person, I said to myself “I knew it!” So when Rai did her brand of justice towards that person, I did an internal cheer also.

I was also very surprised when I realized who Rai was to Graeber. I was also very surprised when it dawned on me how exactly how old she was. I do feel bad for what happened to her. In her own way, she was trying to help find a cure for the plague.

Speaking of the plague, I was surprised at how it started and at who started it. Once it was explained to Rai, I understood why. That entity was upset that not only people were intruding on her world but they did something that cloaked her from others of her kind. Someone who was a traitor. That, someone, was also the same person who was poisoning the berries. So, I felt that getting rid of that person was for the best.

I thought the end of the book was great. It ended on a cliffhanger. Which means I am going to have to wait until book 3 comes out to find out what happens to Rai and her friends.

Dreams Manifest is the engrossing 2nd book in The Depths of Memory trilogy. I could not read this book fast enough. The characters were fleshed out and the plot was great. I cannot wait to read book 3.

Dreams Manifest - The Depths of Memory Bk 2 - Written by Candice Bundy - Reviewed 3/15/18 - Read 3/8-9/18
A power within that could destroy everything and the struggle to stop it…

A new threat, the potential end of the colony, and Rai Durmah just may be in over her head, in horrifying danger, and caught in a struggle between loyalties. But with an ancient power that could change everything, there is hope, hope for Rai, hope for humanity, hope for survival as long as she can manifest the strength to fight...

What did I like? This was a very fascinating storyline that kept me going and had so many twists and turns that I almost had whiplash. The storyline was so intricate that you could visualize just what was going on.

What will you like? Unbelievable characters with unique descriptions, complex twists, convoluted turns, complex history, very complicated storyline but fascinating, and a complex romance. The uniquely developed storyline that was sophisticated and yet simplistic. Beautifully written and captivating. Looking forward to reading more from this author. I received this from the author for an honest review with no other compensation.

There are times when the first book in the series was so good that you immediately go buy the sequel. This was one of those times! While the first book was more of a fantasy with sci-fi elements, the sequel is more sci-fi but for a good reason. While the first book focuses on Rai and the others on the planet, the sequel goes more into how the world was colonized, and who else is out there. We meet the Juggernauts, an imposing species, and not necessarily good news for the humans.

I found this to be utterly engrossing, with a good mix of fantasy and sci-fi. While I loved the world-building from the first book, it is vastly expanded in the second, with the introduction of the Juggernauts and another entity (spoilers so I'll say no more).

I now eagerly wait for book three.

Dreams Manifest picks up where The Dream Sifter left off without missing a beat. I thoroughly enjoyed this read and would liken it to Neil Gaiman meets Margaret Atwood in terms of style and ability to captivate you as a reader. One of the most impressive feats that the author is able to pull off is her ability to make the reader empathize and enjoy all characters (even the villains) which serves to create a rich and unique tapestry by which to indulge the imagination.

Can't wait for the 3rd book to come out!

Probably really about 4 1/2 stars for this one.

Not quite as good as the first book – it suffers a bit from being the second book in the series – but a good story nevertheless.

At the end of the previous book, things looked bad for Az’Unda. Rai Durma had discovered herself to be the former Guardian Kilawren, and Matriarch Bauleel had been attacked and almost killed by the plague Terror Terem Zebio. At the beginning of Dreams Manifest we find a new threat to the planet: Brague, a Juggernaut Selector for the Hegemony has targeted the planet for investigation as a possible location for a new Juggernaut project designed to create a new breed of Juggernauts adapted to submerged aqueous environments. Brague is looking forward to being able to send a message to the colonists on Az-Unda that their infestations on proper Juggernaut territory will no longer be tolerated.

The Durmah clan, goaded on by Tinker Somnu, who turns out not to be what he seems on many levels, keeps pressuring Rai to share what she has remembered of her past with them. Knowing that revealing her past, even just what she now remembers, is likely to get her killed, she suddenly jumps off a high cliff terrace into Jeweled Cove, expecting to die.

Instead, she encounters and fuses with a powerful being known to the Juggernaut as a Progenitor, who is the guardian and real steward of Az’Unda. The Juggernaut revere the Progenitors as gods and worship them, so the discovery of the Progenitor, Vidaaquar changes the dynamics of the entire situation. Most of the old problems are quickly wiped out. But something feels off. Are new problems about to surface?

The Dream Manifest is an amazing second book in the series by Candice Bundy. The first book was a great start, but the second book really drew me in. In this one the author hit it out of the ballpark! The plot became very intricate and was a real page turner. She developed some very neat twists that she intrigrated into the story beautifully and found a great way to resolve them towards the end! At one point I actually thought she wrote herself into a wall but I stood corrected and she found a great way to solve it all!

Rai really grows in this second book and becomes an even stronger character, which I didn't think was possible. I also really enjoyed the person that we grew to know Graeber to be. He really hid a lot in the first book and I was happy to read all about him in the second part. Bauleel had some nice secrets hidden as well and I would have never guessed the story of these 3 really.

This time the book ended with a lot more closure than the first one, but it seems there will be a third one and I for one am very excited to read that one. I hope that one comes out soon!

I have received this book from the author for an honest review. (LoP, Lovers of Paranormal)

There's definitely more action in here, and I wonder if it felt faster because of it? I loved how the world expanded to something so much bigger than I could have imagined. It took a turn I wasn't expecting so soon, but I thought it also made for a great bridge to the third installment's direction. The romance bit was a little more present, and it was less about family (for Rai at least) and more about preserving mankind as a whole and trying to figure out where everyone fits in the universe. Well actually, I guess it is still about family, just not Rai's adopted one. Things are definitely changing, and it kept me entertained. I'm growing fond of these people and I hope the third one comes out soon.

Very interesting

I enjoyed this 2nd book in the series very much. It went in a completely different direction than I imagined. If I think back on the 1st book, it is almost like two completely different stories, but not in a bad way. It flowed from one to the other well. I really want to continue reading this story.
