Alchemist Awakening

Rate this book
"We are all alchemists with amnesia" is a line from this book that encapsulates the theme of the fictional, partly channeled story.

Liza (28) goes through an inner crisis. She’s consumed by heartbreak, finds her work unfulfilling and feels like she is sleepwalking through life. That’s why when she receives a mysterious invitation to a Spiritual Alchemy seminar, she accepts the challenge and sets out on a soul-searching journey. She begins to meet with her secretive, ethereal teacher and twelve other men, each representing one of the twelve signs of the zodiac. While conversing with them, she learns about alchemy, astrology and mainly about what it means to grow into her true self.

This novel was partly based on a channeled conversation with angel Gabriel.

This book was so reminiscent of the style of "The Celestine Prophecy" to me. It is for anyone who is on a spiritual journey, and we all are. The book also prompts me to read The Emerald Tablets of Thoth. I actually told my husband before reading this book that we should start reading that together. It's all coincidence or serendipity or sychronicity.

I recommend the book as something to read to uplift you and help you believe in yourself.

An Intriguing and Informative Read
Circumstances force a young woman to come face-to-face with twelve men who are manifestations of the signs of the zodiac. Interaction with them, directed by the Archangel Gabriel, also in physical form, opens a spiritual realm to the young woman, a world replete with lessons she needs to learn to put her on her true path. Each sign of the zodiac has its own chapter, which is a clever structure for this book. It is a novel in the vein of “The Celestine Prophecy” and other such spiritual tomes. Readers in touch with their own spiritual journey, or who wish to be, will find this an intriguing and informative read.

Liza had been drawn to astronomy, studied it, and its many branches for years. It, along with her dream of writing a book, was her passion. Yet, she now doubted both. She questioned her ability to write, as well as the meaning of the stars. She was at a dead end, so when she found the strange rainbow coloured envelope, containing an invitation to a seminar, it tempted her. Her dual Gemini nature was indecisive, but she took the plunge. She knew there was more to what she knew. Alchemy, geometry, theurgy, astronomy, everything was connected. Liza finds herself on a task to awaken her own alchemist and find her own philosopher's stone, the gold within that came from being truly herself. But there are lessons to learn, can she accept and understand them?

If you enjoy or have an interest in astrology Alchemist Awakening is definitely a book for your list. It explores the Zodiac, the tree of life, Alchemy (although not in the sense you're probably familiar with) and so many other philosophies and ideas. It's a tale of self discovery focused around Liza as she learns to embrace herself and her own path with a little help from some rather divine intervention. It's slow paced, allowing the reader to get a real feel for Liza's character, and that of those who surround her. She has a journey she must make, and it is intriguing to watch the progression, along with the development that runs along side it. If, like me, you're a KU subscriber, there's the added bonus of picking this book up for free.

This is not my first Iva Kenaz book that I read, and I can say with certainty that I have become quite a fan of her writing. It reminds me a bit of Paulo Coelho’s writing, however, Iva’s writing is much more personal and maybe that’s the reason why I love it so much. From the very first pages it was easy for me to connect to Liza - the protagonist - and watch her spiritual journey and the path to self-discovery from the front seat, metaphorically speaking. The idea of Spiritual Seminar and Liza’s decision to plunge into the mysterious world of the unknown was very original, and I was eagerly turning pages, following not only her progress but also the spiritual growth. Through meeting different people, each of whom opened her eyes to yet another step that she needed to take in order to find her true self, Liza eventually progressed from a lost soul to a strong and confident woman, who finally looks the past in the eyes and finds herself once again. Written in a beautiful, vivid language and full of symbolism and allegories, “Alchemist Awakening” was a wonderful read which I would highly recommend to everyone. And particularly to all of the writers out there, who still doubt themselves. Five stars!

My mother was very much into astrology. Her passion ran deep. I'm talking beyond reading horoscopes on a daily basis. I basically grew up with her plotting charts and planets. I remember her making trips to the local bookstores and studying everything she could find. So much in this book made me smile and think of her. On a personal level this was a perfect read for me!

One line in particular hit home - "Due to my analytical Gemini brain, I remained stuck on the first sentence:" You guessed it my mother was a Gemini!

My unusual connection made this a special read. Even without it, it is a great story! I do have to ask is snail cream a real thing? I probably don't really want to know the answer to that... Yuck.

This is an unexpectedly multifaceted read. While it is a sort of a finding oneself tale, it has much more to it. I am not well versed in the zodiac or many metaphysical principals, so this was a real eyeopening read. There is so much information packed into this book but the way it is done is what really impressed me. It's not like a text book, this is a beautiful rich fictional experience where you learn what Liza knows as well as what she discovers. I loved that her journey traveled through the zodiac and people related to that in a way that was mysterious yet natural. The mysterious tone permeated the book and had me glued to the pages as I wanted to get the most out of each lesson. I really loved the style of the narration and look forward to reading more from Iva Kenaz.

I'm a big fan of Kenaz's work so I had to read this one as soon as it came out.
I wasn't surprised by the alchemy and astrology subjects, because all her novels are pagan and esoteric in core, which I love.
I like how the story starts as something more or less mundane, but with the next chapter it turns into this exciting journey of learning inner alchemy, but mainly dealing with life and the issues it brings. The character is relatable and her friends are hilarious. There's a bit of comedy to this book too, and reminded me of Kenaz's Manifested in a way. Well, brilliantly written and highly recommended from my side!

I enjoyed Kenaz' book about runes so I trusted a fiction story would be interesting, but it's shockingly disappointing writing. There are comments stated as fact in the story, which aren't actual facts. And there are discrepancies that don't make any sense - pg. 219 begins a discussion about the great - great - great grandmother.... Who then is said to not have ever married or had children. How does one become a grandmother never having had children?

It just feels as if the writing was rushed and not given much attention to detail.
The 5 star reviews make one question if the book was actually read, and read closely.

Other reviewers have described this book perfectly so I won't go into the story.
This book, for me, was about connection and understanding, and it delivered on both. Written beautifully and with real gems of wisdom strewn about, it was also full of hope and encouragement.

The concept was excellent and the story structured in such a way that made it both instructive and entertaining. It was also thought-provoking, which is what I love to experience in any book.

A great read for those looking for answers.

Definitely went down the rabbit hole on this one. From the entertaining premise that a discouraged and writer’s blocked journalist write about meeting 12 men from the signs of the zodiac, the story keeps going deeper into the strange and metaphysical world of alchemy and the juxtaposition of her otherwise ordinary life. It might be more interesting to someone who already has a grasp of astrology; which I don’t, but I found it mesmerizing anyway and the writing style was part of that.

I enjoyed this one. Not my usual genre and perhaps I struggled a little with the astrological aspect of the story but once I got over that I found the story to be quite engaging. Unusual, original and entertaining, certainly three ingredients that for me at least make any book worth reading. The author has a unique style which I did enjoy I think you will too. Pick it up.

A lovely, thought provoking and intelligent read. There are so many insights in this book about spirituality and life in general and I really enjoyed the way the information was interwoven with the gentle mystery of the plot. A must for anyone interested in astrology, alchemy or looking for a inspiring and original read.

As always, Iva Kenaz managed to take my breath away. This story is so deep and actual. It encourages the reader to find and follow his own mission in life. The way Kenaz merges esotery, spirituality, and philosophy with a fast paced entertaining read is what makes this book most valuable to me. It's a feel good but wise story that I will surely read again.

I'm a fan of this author's work and what I enjoy the most is that her books keep surprising me. They are all unique yet have one thing in common: Spiritual wisdom. Being it paganism, travel to other dimensions, or alchemy.

I love this book! The main heroine is dealing with issues similar to mine, mainly the need to change and find herself. I'm ready to start looking for my own inner alchemist and philosopher's stone. I will read this book again and probably soon.

Excellent

It started with an invitation and from there on, this read never let up. Told from an insightful first person point of view, our protagonists faces the internal conversation that argues destiny against will. I find astrology incredibly interesting and the story holds up against the little tidbits that I know. Well worth a read.
