Bulletproof is the first book I have read in Jenna Galicki’s Bulletproof series, and my feelings are rather mixed. I have not read the first three books in the series – The Undercover Rock Star, Branded, and Bassist With Benefits – but I was not at a disadvantage. The prior books tell the stories of the other characters, yet they are not necessary to understand the story in Bulletproof.

As I said, my feelings are rather mixed. Some elements I enjoyed, other elements I wasn’t crazy about. I think my biggest issue is that I read this after reading another rock star romance. This other rock star romance I read was extremely powerful, earning the number one spot on my rock star romance reads… I knew anything I read after would feel inferior. Not that this is a bad book, it simply wasn’t the high I had been hoping for.

The story was an interesting one. Two rock stars, both dealing with the demands of the life style. One has a near perfect life, whereas the other has experienced the worst the world has to offer. One is stable, the other has many issues. It’s a storyline we have seen before, across many settings, yet it is one I always enjoy.

It is the storyline in relation to the mental health that I enjoyed the most. I enjoyed watching the way our characters struggled, the way they helped each other out, and the way things were dealt with. I felt as though things towards the end were a bit of an over simplification whereby the problem was pretty much fixed, but the struggles throughout the story certainly grabbed me.

It was the characters I wasn’t crazy about. I know we were dealing with rock stars, but everyone felt so juvenile. I kept wanting the grab characters and tell them to grow up. Not to mention, some of the side issues had me rolling my eyes – had the story focused solely upon the mental health I would have been happy, but some of the other elements I could have done without. Plus, there were quite a few things that felt repetitive.

Overall, this was a decent enough read. I’m sure fan of the series will enjoy being given the insight into another of the characters.

Parts is this I really loved - Travis and his struggles, Derek struggling to try to help him. Parts of it I didn’t love - how many times do I need to be told about Derek’s hair? I get it. It’s thick and black and long and luxurious. Stop beating me over the head with it. I also didn’t care for the interwoven ‘is he cheating?’ Factor. The story didn’t need it. With Travis’s struggles with his anxiety, this story was beautiful.

I am so in love with this book! It's both wild and heartbreaking. I love how Derek and Travis are wild together, "living the rockstar life", but also just being two crazy young men; on the other hand, though, they are two very sensitive souls. Travis is a troubled man with a difficult past and an extremely overwhelming present making it difficult for him to adjust to fame. Dereck is the real surprise of the book: for being an extremely turbolent rockstar, often perceived as out-of-control and over the top, he is a very gentle partner and the rock for Travis as he navigates his issues.
I really loved this story a lot!
It's fun, sexy, crazy and heartwarming. Really well done!

While their bands are on tour together, Derek and Travis end up bonding over the fact they’re both lonely. In the previous books we’ve seen Derek’s band mates and friends fall in love, which often leaves him feeling left out. Despite being together 3 years, Travis only has a working relationship with the rest of his band.

They end of spending most of their free time together in and out of bed and fall in love.

I really loved these two. They could have had a one night stand and went their separate ways, but they felt a connection, so their bond and friendship develops over time. When Travis has trouble coping with the stress of touring and trying to write, Derek is there to support him and take care of him.

At first I was skeptical of the title, but by the end, it’s very fitting.

This book took a lot to get into. It wasn’t until nearly half way through that the story actually became coherent and it turned out to be a reasonably decent story. It even pulled at my heart strings at the end.

There were a few negative parts to it, especially the repeated telling of how long and luscious the MCs hair was.

Living the rock star life isn’t easy and isn’t for everyone. You truly do have to be Bulletproof to make it in that world. We see a side to Derek and Travis that is not only front and center, but behind the scenes as well. Seeing as this book came not to long after we recently lost some good front men in real life bands, it kinda makes you wonder how much they truly hid from the public and suffered in silence. We also get to see how different the two bands truly function. One functions with a close bond, whereas, the other band functions for business purposes only. It actually made me want to smack the Reckless band except Travis, since it was all on his shoulders.
Over the series we got to see the band, Bulletproof pair off in relationship and this is Derek’s story. This is a beautiful, but heartbreaking story seeing what Travis goes through. All I can say without giving away spoilers is that the bond that Derek and Travis had from the beginning is truly what friends are for. For all the real-life issues that so many people endure daily, it was nice to not only learn what they experience, but how far someone would go to be there to work through these issues. From the moment they met their bond was heartwarming and then add into how the rest of Bulletproof band mates intertwined in the story it made it that much more perfect to the ending of this series. I loved that we got to see the other bandmates and the restaurant status. That ending though was a grand finale. While this is a part of a series, each book does not have to be read in order to read the set of characters of your choice. You will honestly fall in love with each set of characters and story though. Sometimes those non-planned relationships become the best relationship story. The tats are awesome is all I will say!

Travis is broken and Derek wants to help him heal. Derek and Travis come from different spectrums in their lives with Derek being the famous guitarist for the extremely famous rock band Bulletproof and Travis is the front man for Reckless who is now the opening band for Bulletproof. The only difference is that Travis is a broken man who has lived through a childhood of hell. Even though he has an up and coming band with a #1 song his band members belittle him and want him out of the band. Travis and his bandmates never clicked on anything outside of performing and his band even go so far as to pick on him about his anxiety he has about going on stage.

This book hits on some things that are hard to deal with as in depression and anxiety. Both can be debilitating and hard for people to get the full extent as to how it can ruin your life. Ms. Galicki takes this head on and does a great job and also shows us that there can be help. Derek is the man that wants nothing more than to help Travis and Travis is hell bent on finally finding help in order to make himself feel worthy of Derek. I loved that fact that this story wasn’t afraid of talking about mental illness and reaching out to help those who are struggling with just plain living as in reference to Chris Cornell and Chester Bennington.

I loved this book also with the mentioning of song that just happens to be some of my favorite songs. I’m really glad I got to read this book and feel a bit better knowing that more and more people are realizing that mental illness is nothing to be ashamed of and there is hope.

I received this book as an ARC for a freely given and honest review.

Travis and Derek meet when Travis’s band Reckless opens for Bulletproof. Derek watches Travis sing and is instantly intrigued with him. When they meet the attraction is mutual.

Derek is all about the partying, alcohol, drugs, quick hookups. When he meets Travis he isn't thinking about the future. He's all about the here and now. Looking only for the next body to make him happy.

Travis can't believe that Derek from Bulletproof is interested in him. He knows that when Derek finds out the truth about how messed up he is, they will be done. His self doubt and crippling anxiety paralyze him at times. His band members think he is a loser and cut him down all the time, taking away even more of his almost non existent self confidence. Unable to function he continually shuts himself off from Derek even though that is the last thing he wants to do.

Derek, for the first time in his life is developing feelings and is not really sure what to do about it. He knows Travis is rapidly becoming someone he can't do without.

As far as I am concerned this is the best Bulletproof book. We get to see the other guys finally starting to act like adults without losing any of their charm. I feel that Travis and Derek's development as partners is the the deepest of any of the characters. There is hot sex in this book but I think the MC’s day to day relationship takes center stage. If you liked the other books this one is the icing on the cake.

Best of the series!

Raw and emotional. This was a well written story that addressed many important issues, such as drug addiction, abuse and depression. At moments this was a highly emotional experience and others it was fun loving and high spirited. The chemistry and bond that Derek and Travis shared was incredible. Their devilish personalities & wild adventures will have you on the edge of your seat. My favorite book of the series.
Tyler Kent’s performance was brilliant. His voice was not only paired perfectly with these characters but his voice acting was fantastic. He captured all the emotions and feelings of these characters. Well done.
This is book 4 with an HEA and can be read as a standalone.
I highly recommend this book/series.
I giving this book my Spotlight Award for best Rockstar Romance of 2022.

This is the fourth book in the series but it can be read as a standalone. I haven't read the other books but I never felt lost. I really appreciate it when authors manage to do that. This book actually makes me want to read the other books too. I liked the chemistry between Derek and Travis. It was obvious they cared deeply for each other. What I loved the most was Travis' storyline. It was heartbreaking but at the same time empowering. He went through so much but he managed to find the strength to ask for professional help and get better. I listened the audiobook and I thought that he narrator did a fantastic job bringing the story to life.

As much as I want to continue on with this book I just can't keep going. At 15% this story just wasn't keeping my attention or interest. I won't rate this book and I may come back to it but not sure at this point.

I Give this Book a 4/5 Star Rating.

Formats Read: Ebook & Audiobook
**Audiobook Review at Bottom

HEA(?): Yes
Relationship Type: MM
Heat: 3.5/5
Romance: 3.5-4/5
Pacing: it does fluctuate in pacing a little bit, but the pacing is Mid.
Drama: 3.5/5, it’s not as dramatic as you would expect it to be, it does have a more real life to it. If your looking for a more dramatic type of book this really isn’t it, but if your having one of those days that you’re craving a read that has a real life fee to it, this one is really good.
Suspense: 3.5/5
Dark(?): No.

I’ve reread this series so many times, I’m not even kidding. Seriously love this series. And it’s wonderful to hear it in audio. ☺️

Audiobook Review:
Overall: 4/5
Performance: 3.5/5
Story: 4/5
Narrator: Tyler Kent

Now this is more of a personal preference, I didn’t mind his version of Derek, but in a way I did wish both Derek and Travis voices were just a bit deeper.

But other than that I really enjoyed the way Tyler evoked emotion, really well done. I would happily listen to this again. ☺️

So sadly this wasn't my favorite rock star romance.
It started off ok but then quickly lost my interest.
I know their rock stars and all but the story was very juvenile to me.

A Wild & Captivating Ride! Great Story & Listen🎧

Bulletproof
By: Jenna Galicki
Narrated by: Tyler Kent

Jenna Galicki delivers another great Rock Star Romance and I loved every minute of it. This is the fourth book in the series but it can be enjoyed on its own, though other members of Bulletproof and their significant others make appearances as secondary characters in this book. They are great characters and I am looking forward to listening to their stories as well. This is Derek MacAlister and Travis Fontana’s story, Derek, Bulletproof’s guitarist is the last single member of the band, he is known for his wild partying ways. After watching all his bandmates find a partner to share their lives with he is feeling like he is missing something special. The Travis catches his eye and he starts feeling things he never thought he would feel about someone. Travis is the singer and front man of Reckless, an up and coming band who will be touring with Bulletproof as their opener. Derek sees Travis flirting with the ladies but after talking to him he tells him he is bi. The two click and Derek wants to give a relationship a try, but standing on new ground is not always easy. I loved the complexity of these two, especially Travis who deals with issues and inner demons, Derek is so good for him, patient and trying to be understanding. He feels protective of him and wants to help but it is not alway easy or wanted. Jenna Galicki does an awesome job keeping it real while covering some subject matter that is not easily covered which she handled and presented wonderfully. There is never a dull moment in this book, the story is beautifully plotted with plenty of drama, angst, heartfelt and emotional moments and some hot romance. Jenna Galicki, thank you for another great story and the emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧And for the terrific narration, Tyler Kent is a talented narrator and voice artist. He covers the roles for all the characters, gives each their own distinct voice which makes it easy to follow along and tell who is who. His portrayal of the characters is spot on, sounding believable and just as I picture them to sound. He set the perfect tone for the story, captured all of the characters emotions and projected them in to his performance. He is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for the great listen.

Amazing! Heartbreaking! My Favorite Book of this Series!

This is the fourth book of the Bulletproof series. I absolutely fell in love with Derek and Travis's heartbreaking love story. I have followed the amazing group Bulletproof since the beginning, but this book is MY FAVORITE. This story-line was incredible, beautiful, heartbreaking, & breathtaking. It captures your heart, body, and soul.

Jenna Galicki has become one of my favorite rocker authors. I have fallen in love with her writing and her books. The characters and story-line in all her books always leave me wanting more. I have love being part of the journey that Bulletproof has taken in the careers and love lives.

The reason this is my favorite book of this series is because Jenna did amazing writing a story that shows her readers that even rock gods are human too. They have money, fame, and everything in between, but they also have real life issues. Travis's story of fame came with a price that became overwhelming. His panic attacks and depression is something that most of her readers can relate to and understand. This makes Travis a character that her readers will fall in love with and what to jump right it this book to comfort him.

Derek is the epitome of a rock star. He loves to party, be wild, & enjoy his fame, but I love that Jenna also shows the vulnerable side of his character. He becomes the character that we love to read about in book. He becomes the sensitive, loving, compassionate, strong man that Travis needs to help him with the twist and turns of his struggling life.

Read this beautiful love story to see what happens when a rock star falls in love with the man that was only suppose to be a one night stand.

I recommend this book. This amazing book will have you swooning and experiencing a love that will be tempted. You will be thrown into a rock stars lifestyle and experience what two people in love will give up to be with each other. We will love every minute of the journey that Jenna takes you on in this book.

First I just have to say that I love stories about rock stars, the playlist in the beginning is awesome and I'm happy I got to read an ARC in exchange for a honest and unbiased review.

I have read the previous books and I love Bulletproof ( both the book and the band).
This book is about the lead guitarist Derek, known for his long hair, his many hook ups and his crazy lifestyle. He loves his life and does whatever he wants to enjoy it and have fun.
When Derek sees the lead singer of their new opening band Reckless there's an instant spark between them and Derek sees a chance for another hook up and a great time in Travis.
When they do spend time after the concert it doesn't goes exactly how Derek imagined. They actually talk instead of just having sex and there's another deeper connection between them besides the attraction.
For Derek this is something he isn't use to and the more they hang out and does crazy things together the more he cares for Travis.

Travis on the other hand doesn't enjoy the rock star life like Derek does. He's has no friends in his band mates since they were just put together and even though he loves music and to sing he's having major stage fright and anxiety. And when things gets really tough Derek and the rest of Bulletproof is the only thing that holds him together. But there's only so far another person can carry you.

I loved that this book just wasn't about sex, partying and the rock star life even if it may look like that from the outside. The feelings between Derek and Travis are so pure and Travis is, despite being a rock star, so innocent.
Derek and Travis journey to happiness isn't always an easy one but we'll worth it in the end.
So 5 stars for the book with an extra plus for the mentioning of Chis Cornell and Chester Bennington (may they rest in peace).

4 Stars!

Bulletproof is book 4 in the Bulletproof series and while they can be read as standalones, they feature the different members of the band, so you might feel a bit lost as to their stories.

This book is angstier than the previous ones, in the sense that it deals with mental illness. Ms. Galicki did a great job portraying Travis's issues and his downward spiral, which were so different from Derek's party boy ways, even if their escapades were what brought them together in the first place.

Both Travis and Derek were very likable and had great chemistry, it was nice how supportive and protective Derek became with Travis, when he'd never been interested in having a relationship before. And I absolutely loved Travis's 10 Things He Liked About Derek texts, they were sweet and a great insight into his growing feelings. Of course, it didn't hurt that they were really hot and passionate together. ;)

I really enjoyed seeing how much more mature the rest of the guys are now that they have settled in their own relationships. They were still touring, still having fun, but the drugs and sex with anyone other than their partners was a part of their past.

Overall, I think this might be my favorite book in the series, if nothing else because it gave us a darker view into what some rock stars go through. I could have done without the 'cheating' part near the end, which in my opinion, the book didn't really need with everything else going on. Bulletproof was angsty and heartbreaking, hot and sweet and it kept me riveted to my Kindle from start to end. Very recommendable!

Ten Things I Love about Jenna Galicki's Bulletproof
I may sound (write) like a broken record but no one does MM romance like Jenna
1. The relationships - You have a front row on Derek & Travis falling for each other, it's not rushed, it just is, as partners-in-crime and then partners in love.
2. I am partial to band books and this one again doesn't disappoint, showing the tight bond between the members of Bulletproof and what happens when bands are not supportive of each other.
3. This book took on a very serious subject, paying homage to some great loses in the real world of Rock & Roll. I understand this one had to have an HEA but unfortunately with even support from those that love you, if may not be enough. Very thought provoking and powerful.
4. Bulletproof Story Soundtrack - enough said
5. Derek, you have to love him, he is goofy and sensitive and a little bit crazy but his loneliness is very apparent.
6. Travis is a very old soul in a young body, his trauma growing up is heartbreaking but at the same time it brought out his creativity like most Artists. You want to wrap him in your arms but admire his strength to try and deal with his issues and not in a destructive way.
7. The seriousness is balanced by humor by the crazy antics of Derek and Travis, they haven't met a challenge they didn't like
8. Honorable mention of Jessi Blade (see #10)
9. Brandy - The wonder dog
10. Getting Chapter One of The Prince of Punk Rock at the very end - If you aren't familiar with Jenna's MFM series, it's amazing
I am sad to see this end, but looking forward to one click whatever Jenna is up to next.

***Possible Spoilers***
Derek got the story he deserved. He has intrigued me from book one. He could be the pattern from which all wild rock stars are made. (As I imagine them to be anyway)
This book is well written and researched. The lifestyle of rock stars is put on display, and if it is not accurate, then the author deserves extra kudos for writing it so well that it seems real. I was able to jump right back into the mindset of that world. I enjoyed seeing the other band members and their mates. Their parts in this story do justice to the strength of character that they exhibited in prior books.
The issues that Travis battles are heartbreaking. The extent to which they affect his life is hard to read and harder to understand. These take up a big part of Travis' story, but they need to. I would not have felt the depth of his pain and suffering had the author given a few offhand remarks and then jumped to the HEA. There is not a simple fix or miracle aha moment that "cures" the emotional and mental affliction(s) from which he suffers. I am glad that the author made Travis seek help for this rather than just lean on Derek and trust him to make his world continue to turn. They both deserve that.
Their passion is intense and their love palpable.
I think the best part of the entire book comes near the end when Travis wakes Derek so they can share the sunrise together. His words are so touching that I just read and reread them several times so that they could be absorbed and enjoyed.
I look forward to more from this author.

I had only read book one of this series, but didn't find it a problem, when reading this. Afterwards, I went ahead and bought books 2&3 as well.

Travis especially is a very well written character. His struggle with anxiety and depression is heart breaking. Ms Galicki writes realistically about the subject, and really gets into Travis' head. The story is not just a love story, it demonstrates how debilitating mental illness can be, and how it can affect your life and others around you.

I enjoyed that everything wasn't perfect and that, on occasion doubts and insecurities took hold of both Travis and Derek; especially with Derek, who initially comes across as a stereotypical frivolous and promiscuous rock star. With Travis, Derek really comes into his own when he realises that he loves Travis. All he wants to do is help and protect him.

The remainder of Derek's band were also well written, they came across as a family, totally accepting of Travis and problems, and doing what they could to help.

So, on the whole, a well written book, with likeable characters, and not afraid to tackle the difficult topic of mental health and it's affects. The only reason I have it 4 stars and not 5, is because I thought that some of Derek's and Travis' antics in the first part of the book were somewhat eye rolling. On the other hand, Ms Galicki deals very well with the whole sensitive issue of mental health. Will definitely read more from this author.

*´¨✫)4.5 Bulletproof stars
¸.•´¸.•*´¨)✯ ¸.•*¨)
✮ (¸.•´✶ (¸.•`Bulletproof started with a bang and continued throughout the books. The fourth installment of the Bulletproof series, Jenna Galicki has proven that she is rock inspired and delves deep into the epps of its soul. Last of the boys to meet his match, Derek has always been the wild one. He was the one destined to be forever single and partying. Until Travis enetered his sphere and shifted his awareness.

Bulletproof was on the last leg of their yearly tour and Travis' band Reckless was their opening act. The younger Travis was all kinds of mystery and suffering. He had so many issues I didn't know if Derek was man enough to take it on. But like a champ, the wild child became a saving grace, despite his heart and singledom.

This was the most heartwrenching, yet totally fulfilling of the books. There was laughter and tears, a host of cameos and tantilizing loving. But the story focused on self love and healing, on acceptance and finding a place in the world.

I hovered with my ratings, but the end results affirmed how I felt at the end. Relief, satisfaction, joy. Two better man could not have been more deserving.

A rock star romance with M/M pairing. I loved the idea and had high expectations for the story of Derek and Travis. I haven't read the previous books in the series, and it didn't bother me, Bulletproof can be read as standalone.

As a whole, Bulletproof was well written. The comparison between lives of Derek and Travis was one of my favorite parts of the book. I liked how Jenna Galicki portraits two rockstars; the other in the top of his fame and the other just getting his first taste of success.

Travis' struggle felt real, his hell of a childhood threatening to shatter him. Travis' downward spiral was an adept depiction of his inner inferno and conflict between wanting to hide from the world and yearning to stand in the spotlight.

What reduced the stars of this review were couple of things. First, I couldn't get past the fact that in the the nation's number one rock band everyone is gay. It isn't plausible, and in my opinion, even fiction needs elements that could be true in real life. And the fact that all members of Bulletproof were gay diminished Derek's and Travis' story. The other thing I wished for was a tighter storyline; I felt like at times there was too much explanation and repetition - like there were sudden leaps from the fast line to the pedestrian walkway.

Bulletproof is the forth Book in the Bulletproof series. This is Derek’s Book; all of his band mates have settled down, now it’s time for this wild child to find him someone to love.

Derek has always been the life of the party. He would like to party the night away but his band mates are happy going home to their significant others. Their band is on tour and Derek meets Travis. He might have just literally met his match. Travis is a rebel and loves pushing the limits of a good time. They spark a chemistry and find themselves spending most of their time on tour together.

This was a great addition to the Bulletproof series. I have fallen in love with these band members and was so excited for Derek to find his match. I loved watching this story unfold. There was great chemistry and banter between these guys to keep things interesting. It was a great story filled with romance, rock music, and angst. If you like rockstar romances you will love the Bulletproof series.

Body and mind!

Travis needs Derek in more ways than the physical satisfaction. Mental illness is something that is hard to live with, we can agree on that fact. Now, in this story you have a super rockstar that meets a potential rockstar, but the down fall is that star of brightness could never shine through because of crippling mental illness. In this story it's not about the sex. It's about keeping the love alive through all of the mental breakdowns. And trying to understand what that person is going through. Derek is that kind of man for Travis. Thank goodness for that. Because, that kind of love allowed Travis to address his mental illness, which lead him to become a bright star in the music industry that wrote his own path toward success and right toward their HEA! Oh yes, there is some juicy drama along the way. The narrator was good and I totally recommend this story! Enjoy.

This was my first book from this author and I must say I enjoyed it. For the most part my thoughts on this book are on the plus side. Yes, there were a couple things I didn't love but nothing huge and insurmountable. There is a strong emotional story being told here and I really liked that. I found both of the main characters likable and I had a particularly soft-spot for Travis. I could very easily relate, connect and sympathize with him on many levels. I also loved that the author took a stand and helped to shine a light on the important subject of mental illness. Add to this what I thought was a beautiful, moving romance and you have all the makings for a solid read that was quite enjoyable. Only a single narrator for this book but I thought their voice was pleasant and easy to listen to.

Travis and Derek, two rock stars, one set of night stars.

Not having read the other books in the series, I had no issues jumping straight in. I will, however, be going back to read the previous books.

A well-written story. A lovely romance between two pop stars, each with their problems in life. Travis though had a few more issues than most, he was fighting demons. Could Derek help or would Travis break himself? There were a few ups and downs in the middle with a HEA.

Well worth the listen/read. Straight to Gay. Gay for him.

Good narration from Tyler Kent easy to listen to and only had to speed up to 1.35.

Derek and Travis
As the book summary says these are two wild out of control rock stars. Absolutely right. Two guys two different bands and same crazy thirst for wild fun. Derek feels left out now that his band dates are coupled up. He wants to feel included but not ready to settle down. He meets Travis another wild one who just wants to play with adventure. Travis comes from a sad unhealthy place with his story and the more Derek learns the more he wants to be his guide to a healthier person so they can be together. This story shows a battle with anxiety, depression and panic attacks and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I love this book and this whole series so much and I highly recommend. Great narration too. Great continuation to the Bulletproof story. It was awesome to see Derek find someone who makes him happy. Mr. Party-all-the-time-and-never-repeat-hook-ups met his match when he came across Travis. Travis truly had two sides to him-one that the public saw, and one that was private. The connection between Derek and Travis happened quickly, but it was nice that they didn't completely ignore their feelings just for the sake of ignoring them. Travis had a lot of challenges in his past, and it was hard to see him struggle. It was nice to see it all work out for him in the end, though. Derek was a perfect partner for him. I loved seeing these two come together, and I loved seeing Travis heal.
