Revealed: Book One

Rate this book
Overachieving collegian Gage Taylor Weston has come a long way from her devastating loss as a child to now excelling at everything she puts her mind to; that is, except in matters of the heart. Eager to complete her final semester of college, Gage dives headlong into her studies abroad with little time for much else. As a result, the relationship she once thought was solid and unwavering begins to suffer the fatal effects of long-distance and apathy. Determined not to let heartbreak hinder her success as she tries to carve out her own path in the world, Gage places all hopes of a love life on the back-burner of her heart.

Brilliant mogul-in-the-making and one of France’s most sought after bachelors, Martin Toussaint is not only a son of the wine industry’s most successful magnates but he’s an accomplished financier in his own right. Though he makes no apologies for his playboy image, he works hard to be the sort of businessman and global citizen that his father would be honored to leave his company to one day. Try however, telling that to his new assistant. Martin’s honorable intentions are soon tested as he is assigned a distractingly beautiful and outspoken intern who despite being astute, capable and business savvy, continually rubs him the wrong (and if he’s honest, the right) way. For the first time in his life, a woman has made Martin want to clean up his tabloid image and prove to her that he could be the sort of man she never knew she wanted. Gage however, finds herself repelled by Martin’s high-octane lifestyle and the hoards of women always vying for his attention.

As the pair embark on a turbulent professional relationship turned steamy office romance, will their undeniable chemistry be enough for them to consider staying together, or will too many secrets from their pasts and the uncertainty of the future ensure that they part ways for good?

Great story!

Great writing, but did not like the abrupt end. Especially given the fact that it ended in cliffhanger. I hope that the next book will be out soon and the story will not as dragging as this one! I'll give a 3 1/2 star rating!

I was on the fence about buying this book on Amazon due to the reviews, but it helped greatly that the first three chapters were offered for free. I am not sure what hang-ups other readers may have had, but for me, this was an exceptionally well written debut novel by this author. I appreciated the attention to detail that was paid in describing each situation and location in the story; so much so, that I felt transported to every setting.

The main characters were both determined and strong-willed, although I found the heroine's naivety to be grating. Admittedly though, I think the author was purposeful in portraying this twenty-something woman as not yet having it all together.

The balance between the main characters' virtue and carnality also seemed to be a realistic struggle that most people could relate to in a relationship. With that said, their intimacy was both scandalous and explosive, but without being overt or raunchy. They were both too stubborn for their own good though, and ultimately to their own detriment. It seems that in the next book, these factors will have hardened the protagonists, which will be an interesting dynamic to explore.

Although slated as a contemporary romance, topics like racism, sexual assault, infidelity and mental health were addressed with a subtle, but responsible touch. I most loved the multicultural component of the book however, specifically the incorporation of foreign language and culture. The inclusion of French dialogue was creatively done and did not detract from the story. And while I am NOT a fan of having to wait for a story's continuation, I won't hold the "cliffhanger" ending against the author because the writing was just so well done.

Revealed was a very intriguing multicultural read, and I am anxious for the next installment.

I highly recommend this book. From beginning to end you will not be disappointed. This book is a page turner. The moment I picked it up I could not put it down. There wasn't a dull moment in this book. It will take you on an emotional rollercoaster and leave you wanting more in the end. I can't wait until the next book comes out. I am invested in these characters and I'm excited to see how each person's story plays out. T.M. Haddock is one of my new favorite authors and once you read this book I promise this author will be one of your favorites too. Don't wait! Buy this book now and you will thank me later.

What just happened?!

Wow! This story is out of control in a good way. Passion (dare I say love) consumes Gage and Martin. Only to find petty things are keeping them apart. When is the next book coming out?

Obviously, I’m a little biased (wink), however as an avid reader and lover of the written word, I attempted to read this novel (for the third time in its entirety) from a neutral perspective.

Unsurprisingly, I fell in love with Martin and Gage all over again...and don't be off put by the ending; this duo's tale is far from over.

This is one of the best reads I've experienced in awhile. While the story of Martin and Gage is a tale as old as time, the modern cultural influences that were intertwined made it a fresh read. The writing was so amazingly descriptive and memorable that ever since I finished, I have found myself connecting scenes from the story to real life places/events. I did have to go back and read a few parts over as the story progressed in order to connect dots I missed earlier, so I ended up with a few solid "ah-ha/so that's why" moments which are always great. But I especially enjoyed the connection Gage made with Martin's mother which had to be my favorite part of the story. There were so many gems in Revealed; I look forward to Book Two where I'm hoping for a backstory on some of the other characters.
