Senana Saz Rays has been sentenced to four years of slave labor on prison planet Indiku after assaulting his state appointed psychiatrist. Leaving his lover Rhyan behind on earth, Sena spends his time on the planet Indiku working with the coveted medicinal leeri flowers. Although a slave, he can’t help but find peace in the mundane life he’s lived on the alien planet and the wondrous sightings of the indigenous Zanzi that look so much like mythical earth dragons. Senana is just one year shy of going home and being with Rhyan again when all thoughts of freedom are swiped away as a massive Zanzi takes him from the leeri fields and back to the mountains it calls home. La’el is a proud Zanzi. His only wish was to find a life mate and experience the bond his parents share. When he finally finds him in the leeri fields he doesn’t hesitate to take Sena— even their vast physical differences won’t dissuade the young Zanzi. La’el will do anything to prove to Sena that they are meant to be together, even if he’s unsure how to convince his human mate. Both La’el and Sena are about to find out that there is more between them than either of them could ever imagine. Their bond affects more than just their fate, but also reveals a true evil buried in the heart of Indiku, and all the way back to Earth.
My name is Sy (yes that's my nickname). I love to write romance of any kind, but my favorite has always been M/M romance. I live with my husband, three german shepherds and horse in FL. When I'm not writing or reading I'm working full time at a toy store. I love to hear from readers and I always love a good critique!
I liked the book except the last quarter. There everything went to shit. At least for me. WTH?!?! I'm disappointed. I thought this was going to be a mates with a few problems to overcome plot and NOT Sena acted like an ass. He wasn't upfront with La'el about Rhyann and he had the chance to tell him. At the moment I strongly dislike the guy. And his Earth 'lover'. Poor La'el. :(
And it's a cliffhanger. Nothing prepared me for that. I hate cliffhanger with a burning passion.
I'm frustrated, annoyed and disappointed. I wanted it to be more happy in the end. Everything is so glum and La'el is hurting. :(
Unfortunately, this was a bad fated mates story. The fated mate attraction and love was not strong enough to counteract human tendencies. The relationship development did not offset the lack of strong mate attraction. Sel was unlikable. He was self centered and selfish. He didn't grow as a character. La'el, in contrast, was compassionate and giving. He had more to lose than Sel. The story dragged with Sel fighting his relationship with La'el. Sel just wasn't redeemable. La'el deserved a better mate. Sel returned to his lover Rhyan dragging La'el along. Cliffhanger ending with jealous Rhyan plotting to get rid of La'el. Weak foundation for a solid and balanced menage.
The description of the dragons were wonderful! Their telepathic communication with their mates included images and emotions. Too bad the telepathy didn't help Sel overcome his cruel emotional treatment of La'el.
4 stars for the first part of the book, 1 start for the second part and especially for the ending. "I will always love you" MC says to Rhyann, then he turns his back and tells the same line to La'el. WTF, dude?! La'el deserves so much more than this indecisive piece of shit. Hopefully in the next book La'el will find his REAL mate, not this weak imitation.
This book was not what I expected in the least. It was an emotional, frustrating, conflicting and with relatable characters. The writer did an awesome job. Though around the last quarter of the book, things got really rocky and things not hinted at, at the beginning of the book was revealed, it was a shocker. I definitely look forward to the next book, if for nothing else to see what happens with Senana, Rhyan and La’el.
Well, this was a pleasant surprise. 3.5 stars rounded up.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I liked the world building and the characters. The different species were interesting.
The sex was hot but not scorching.
Minor spelling mistakes here and there, hardly worth noting, other than “caress” being spelled “crease” 4 or 5 times.
This next part is slightly *spoilerish* -I’m not a big fan of the jealousy going on between Rhyan and La’el. I had this feeling of wanting all three of the guys to be happy, but the relationship between La’el and Sena just doesn’t seem very healthy or satisfactory to me yet and I really want their relationship to work out. I want their relationship to work out and be happy, but I just didn’t feel it by the end. (Probably cause there is a book 2 coming out - hopefully soon.)
I thought there would be mpreg in this book, but there isn’t. There is implied mpreg, mpreg is possible in certain species, but it doesn’t happen in this book. Another thing I hope to see in the next book.
Cliffhanger. Le sigh. I don’t like cliffhangers.. I like things to be at least a little more resolved by a book ending.
I guess I can’t complain. This was a great book by an author I have never read before, with a genre inside of a genre that I love. I hope to see more from this author, I will definitely read any more books in the future by this author.
Sorry but I HATE this story. And I know the next book is gonna be all about a garbage love triangle of Sena being an ass, (Taking La'el away from everything without even telling him he had another lover and just expecting him to wait around till he "figures shit out") And La'el getting hurt which he absolutely doesn't deserve. And Rhyan and Sena are supposed to be in love but Rhyans been f*cking whoever he wanted since Sena left and even though La'el is loyal and their destined you expect me to believe it's a hard decision? Horrible. Cliffhanger or not, I won't be reading the next one... Rhyan will act innocent, La'el will be like "It's Rhyan tryna kill me!" and that douchebag Sena will be "Nooo, i've known him so long, he would nEvEr" *eye roll* save me. I bet Sena won't even dump his ass till AFTER he finds out his plot.. Writers who write about someones destines mate putting someone else before/equal to them just ruin the whole trope point...
Well, if not for the lack of warning about cliffhanger it would be 5 stars I wonder how did I miss it last year... If you like aliens and dragons and stupid humans (should I just say humans) this book is for you. I have red lots of ranting in reviews of this book about bad decisions and inconsistency of MC, there is only one thing I wanted to say about it- if you newer behaved illogically or inconsistently in your life, be the first to trow the stone...
I wasn't sure I would be able to finish the book, there was not much to it at the beginning, lots of descriptions kept repeating and I really didn't like the main character (and I still don't), but as the plot gradually uncovered, I got really hooked on it and screamed at the cliffhanger!! Hope the next part will come out soon!
Absolutely phenomenal, amazingly well written, flows beautifully, unpredictable and I couldn't put it down and can't wait until the next installment is available, which I really hope is soon. Really well done story and I will definitely be following this author.
A Scattered Thoughts and Rogue Words Review An Alisa Review:
Rating: 3 stars out of 5
This story sucked me in at the very beginning and I loved learning about Indiku from Sena and La’el’s eyes. However, there was no real indication of the love triangle that would come into play near the end of the book or the large cliffhanger the story ended on. It wasn’t complete and there isn’t any other indication that there will be another book and if it will come when. The writing in this story was very well written, it’s just path the story took that I have a problem with.
La’el is so happy to find his mate and doesn’t understand why Sena doesn’t feel the same way. Sena feels a connection to La’el but still thinks about his lover from earth, Rhyan. When they seek shelter it is Rhyan Sena turns to.
I liked the world building in Indiku near the beginning though I didn’t feel like I really learned much about their culture. La’el wasn’t right just taking Sena the way he did but I could see he was young and very impulsive. I felt sorry for La’el once they got to earth because now he has to compete with Sena’s previous lover while trying to navigate this new world that Sena has brought him to. I can’t say I ever really liked Sena, he came off very brash and I never felt he redeemed himself. Protecting La’el if about the only good thing I felt he did. We didn’t see much of Rhyan but what I see I didn’t like and then the whole selling dragons thing that was apparently going on, I didn’t learn enough about it but obviously this goes into more problems that are beneath the surface. I was so upset by the end of the book I’m not sure I will even read it if a follow-up book comes out.
The cover art by E Keith and S Neff is nice and I love the two visuals of La’el.
To start off, I love the world building in this book. I also love the dynamic with Sena and La'el and that their mating isn't instant love for both of them. It really shows how hard it would be to suddenly find a soul mate when you already are in love with someone else. I can't wait to see how it all plays out between Sena, La'el, and Rhyan in the next book.
Blurb = (Scale 1-10) 2 - Only reason not a 1 is because it held true for first 50%. Then the story ends up taking a couple of left turns that changes everything.
My Genre Scale = (Scale 1-10) 8.5
What stood out = How nothing & I mean nothing is resolved by the end of this book. How caught between a rock and a hard place Ser is, and the situation does not make him likable. Though, he is honest.
Mood Type / Appeal to those looking for = Strong start, True Mates with only partially formed bonds. Hot sex and cliffhangers.
Warnings = This has what some would definitely consider cheating. It is not a typical romance, nor does it have a HFN much less a HEA. It ends in a true cliffhanger, and at the time I'm posting its been 2 years. There is some foreshadowing that this could have Mpreg and /or become m/m/m.
Series Notes = CLIFFHANGER & 2 years since published still no 2nd book.
Rating Notes = The world building was good. The writing solid, but sometime after 50% it just veered off the rails. I, for one, do not expect the type of serious relationship issues these 2 had in what was billed as "True Mates". Part of the draw is the Alien Dragon Mate which kind of becomes a moot point. Do not even get me started about a true cliffhanger with absolutely nothing resolved.
(Obviously this cannot takie into account all the various personal pet peeves of readers, though I try to take into account the common ones often bemoaned by other reviewers).
Blurb rating purpose: ( I don't think a book should be docked stars for being as stated. If I don't like stories about "?whatever?", I shouldn't give it 2 stars, JUST based on my preferences. Unless... it wasn't clear in the blurb.)
Review Factors: Since 2009, I have exclusively read m/m. My 1st was in 2007. I am a Kindle diehard, and I never do audio for m/m. . I read at least 100+ books a year - at an average length of 220± pages; but the total number of books is usually much, much, higher. My Goodreads lifetime rating (at the start of 2020) was a 3.72 average for 1390 books. Which considering, the more you read, the better you should be at picking out books you like, I feel is a accurate average.
I really wish that this blurb just said this would be a M/M/M read. Menage books are not my taste and I really would have liked to know ahead of time before paying for it. And it's also an Mpreg. I'm more lenient with Mpreg reads, but I definitely try to avoid them unless I feel like the story is really worth reading.
Its not a bad book, I really enjoyed a lot of elements. The kidnapping and forced attraction was everything I'm into. I also didnt mind the fact that Sena had a lover back on earth, I thought it might make for an interesting jealousy/posessive angle, but ending with Sena and La'el inevitably choosing one another.
Ofc that didnt end up happening. We are left on a massive cliffhanger with Sena still conflicted over the two loves of his life. Being a massive player he makes out with Rhyan and then immediately has sex with La'el. No pause in between. That's a huge no for me. It doesn't help that Sena is a boring and rude character. Rhyan was another character I couldn't like. He and Sena felt like twins of eachother, neither of them were very individual.
Basically I enjoyed the first 30% of the book... and got increasingly nervous as it became clear that this story was leading into menage and mpreg territory.
Also I'm not a fan of bestiality...But I really preferred La'el in his dragon form... (it doesnt count if the "beast" in question is of equal intelligence as a human and is an alien, right??)
Frustrated bc I was saving this book for days bc I got so excited for it.

Great story and sweet romance. I loved how it the point of view of all the main characters and how unique and detailed the "dragon" home planet was without taking away from the main story.
Good read, well written. However, there's no indication that this is a series, yet we're left with a cliffhanger (I absolutely despise cliffhangers). Hope the sequel comes out soon.
