Fated for the Dragon

Rate this book
A curvy scientist on a mission + a reclusive billionaire dragon shifter + a powerful enemy bent on revenge = one heart-pounding romance!

This is the second book in the Lost Dragons series.

All his life, Isaak Vallas has been tormented by the beast that lives inside him. Desperate, he retreats to his private island, hiding away from the world in fear that his dragon will slip his control and hurt someone. But when a curvy beauty breaks into his self-imposed isolation, Isaak just might have found the one person who can calm his beast and heal the conflict inside his tortured soul.

Bird scientist Josie Torres isn’t sure what to expect when her search for the world’s rarest bird leads her to a seemingly idyllic Greek island, especially when the locals try to warn her away. Sun, sand, and surf tempt her to let her hair down, but the greatest temptation of all comes in the form of a sexy mystery man with blazing green eyes, an athlete’s body, and a family secret that could threaten them both.

Is Isaak truly the island’s monster, or merely the victim of a much greater evil? As an implacable enemy closes in on them both, Josie and Isaak must work together to untangle the secrets of Isaak’s past before he loses his mind – and his life.

Combining romance, action and a whole world of discovery, "Fated for the Dragon" will delight fans of TS Joyce, Terry Bolryder, and Harmony Raines.

Enjoy this steamy, action-packed standalone BBW interracial romance today! No cheating, no cliff-hangers, and a guaranteed HEA!!

It's no surprise I love anything i've read by Zoe Chant.

Fated for the Dragon was no exception.

Dragons.

D...to the r...to the a.g.o.n.s.

Short, sweet, sexy dragons are my guilty pleasure. It's no surprise. I've read a ton of them by select authors. Zoe Chant is one of few who do it so fucking well.

You are Zoe Chant!

K, i'm done fawning over her. Can't help myself. Her work makes me so fucking giddy!

Fluffy. And the fantastic kind of fluff!
Issac and Josie were so perfect for eachother. Their actions. Dialougue. Pure perfection.
YES! There is insta-love! And yes it was every bit cheesey!
No, I don't fucking care cause it made my heart feel like it was on cloud nine.

My Thoughts - 5 out of 5 Unicorns - I loved it!!!
***I choose what I read and review based on what intrigues me!! Yes, I received a review copy of this book, but no one tells me what to think, feel, or write about any book! I buy all of Zoe Chant’s books because I love her HEAs and her style of writing! I do own this whole series!

The cover is okay, but this one isn’t doing it for me though I can’t put my finger on why.

Poor Isaak, I’m not sure I can even imagine thinking there is a monster in me because he doesn’t know who he is. Josie is a passionate about her work, and she shows her passion in everything she does. They are drawn to each other, but the bad guy is after them. There is treachery and fighting mixed in with the romance. Isaak learns about himself and his family; while Josie learns about Isaak and all there is to know about him.

I read this book a month ago, but things delayed my review. I couldn’t put this book down when I was reading it! I love these dragons who treat their woman like a queen. I can’t wait to read more of Zoe’s book because they are always an adventure!

I highly recommend to all dragon shifter lovin’ readers especially if you already love Zoe’s work!

Liked both Josie and Isaak.
Isaak is a lost member of the Novak clan who was hidden by his parents during the blood feud and ended up being raised by humans, therefore not knowing his heritage. He feels he is going crazy with a beast inside him.
Josie is an ornithologist and comes to Isaak’s island on the hunt for a rare kingfisher.
Enjoyable enough read but doesn’t really tie into book one until near the end when we have Holly, Stefan and Darklis turn up.
In this book we get a horrible dragon hunter and poor Magnus, a dragon who has been enslaved and abused by the dragon hunter.
Once again we do not find out what punishment is dished out to the nasty hunter.

I received an ARC with no obligation to leave my honest review.
Second book in the series was much like the first as it was super quick, sweet and a little predictable. Not a bad thing of course but no wow moments for me.
There seemed to be a lot of inner monologue by both the main characters and I wished they had more actual conversations, it was hard not to skim a little.
Isaak didn't know he was a Dragon shifter and that took up a lot of the story, so the ending felt a little rushed. He was convinced he was evil with an inner beast and scared of hurting others but the whole time he was putting everyone before himself.
Josie was an ok h, but nothing really stood out about her.
We got a little from the previous characters in the series and a new Dragon by the name of Magnus was interesting so maybe we will see more of him in future books.
Overall an ok addition to the series.

I love Zoe Chant books, and I'm a sucker for dragons. So, double win, right there.

But seriously, it was a good read. Isaak (H) is a reclusive billionaire, worried about the 'monster' inside him which he doesn't understand. Josie (h) is an ornithologist who comes to Isaak's island looking for an extinct species which might not be extinct after all (and no, I don't mean the dragons). Also arriving on Isaak's island are a dragon hunter and his enslaved dragon servant. Duh-duh-DUH!!

There was steam, the 'fated mate' insta-love and magic, some more world building from Book 1 (A Mate for the Dragon), and solid fight scenes. I liked it more than Book 1, felt a bit more connected to the leads compared to Holly and Stefan, but still it wasn't one to really knock my socks off. Again, this was a short and action filled read (in and out of the bedroom), so lots of fun and entertainment, but not one that really grabbed me and took hold.

While this is a good solid longer novella, it could have crossed into 5 stars if there was just a bit more of the character development. I liked them learning all about dragons and shifters, instead of just operating as if 'this is the way things always are.' While I missed the voice of the dragon inside Isaak (I always like that aspect of Chant's shifters), it was great character development to see him come to terms with that half of him. However, it was still a touch superficial and could have been really solid with just a touch more. Especially when it comes to Isaak's mental issues (his 'monster inside') and Josie's female-in-a-STEM-field hurdles - both of these could have made for some really interesting character development.

FYI (and tiny bit of a spoiler), for being Book 2 in the series, it stands alone really well. If you've read Book 1, you know who Isaak will turn out to be (the whole dark hair with green eyes). But it's not until almost the very end that we learn who exactly Isaak is and get the cameo appearance of Holly, Stefan and Darklis, tying it back to Book 1.

Alternating 3rd person POV. No cheating, no OW/OM drama, no love triangles. Quick paced with lots of adventure and steam, which made for a fun afternoon escapism. Enjoyable with likable characters. Like an action movie, but as a read, I suppose - fun, fast, entertaining, but not particularly deep. And dragons! HEA and epilogue, no cliffhangers.

Would I read more? Of course. Zoe Chant is one of my favorites, and this is still early in a new series, so it'll be interesting to see what this world has in store! And I really want Magnus to get his HEA!

Each focuses on a new couple, with no cliffhangers!! They can be read in any order. But characters from previous books reappear in later ones.
Josie is a human as she can be. She is an ornithologist. And she is looking for prof the white speckled kingfisher is where she says it is. Not that anyone has seen one in a while.
Isaak adopted when he was five years old. His parents died when he was 19 leaving him in charge. Now 6 years later he is hiding at his family villa not to protect himself for the outside world but to protect the world from the monster within.
This is book 2 of this series. What poor Isaak has gone through to be left on a doorstep and know nothing about himself. Then to think a monster residents in him. When he sees Josie everything starts to make sense but that only leads to more questions.

Josie and Isaak

Josie studies birds and is looking for are rare one that was thought to have gone extinct seventy years ago. Someone mentioned that they thought they saw one on a private island in Greece. On her way there she met a man named Bain who gave her the creeps and tried to but her grandmother's ring from her.
Isaak secluded himself on his family's private island because he feels like there is a monster inside him. He doesn't want to hurt anyone so he has been alone for the last four years.
Bain is a dragon hunters who is trying to rid the world of dragons. He has one under his control.
Can Isaak and Josie figure out who or what he is? Can they escape Bain and his dragon?.
I liked the first book better but I also enjoyed this one. I am glad there are more books coming for this series. I adore Zoe Chant's dragon books-all of the different series. If you like shifter books Zoe is the author for you!

It's ok

Although I thought this was an ok book, I feel its isn't Zoe's best work. The writing is very simplistic and the romance not quite as sizzling. I feel almost as if this is her earlier work and that she got infinitely better as time went on. So if you are new to Zoe's work and aren't gelling with this series... try Firefighter Dragon from Fire and Rescue Shifters.
Now saying all this, I do feel there are some pros to this book. The story concept intrigues me and I'm definitely reading the next book. I really want to know what happens next with some of the characters. The over arching theme is interesting and the characters are likeable. So for all of my negativity there is some redeeming features to this series and I am going to persevere in the hopes that I like the next one better. I'm a big fan of the zoe books so I will continue to support her work.

Fated for the Dragon, Book 2 of the Lost Dragon series, tell the story of Isaak, a reclusive billionaire CEO, who has spurned contact with humanity because of the monster he feels he is, and Josie, an ornithologist who is searching for a rare bird many thought extinct. The passion and pull that each immediately feel for the other is inexplicable, and each offers little resistance. The truth that they discover, the enemy they must vanquish and the bond they come to understand is from their pairing as mates, propels this great story to an exciting climax with a satisfying resolution.
Wonderful story with edge of your seat action, heated passion and genuine love. A must for every lover of paranormal romance.

Outstanding!!!!

My heart is still beating fast from the excitement and action in this second book of Zoe Chant's Lost Dragon series! This series is so emotional because of all this clan has lost, and Isaak's story is even more heart wrenching because he grew up thinking he was a monster and not knowing what he truly was. I can't wait for the next book in this series, and I really hope we get to read Magnus' story, although he isn't part of the Novak clan. There is a very intriguing story there I think. I highly recommend you one-click immediately! Mature eyes only due to violence and of course, HOT shifter loving!!!!

Intriguing second story in series

Except that now I have to wait for the next one. The twists in this story are throughout the whole thing, starting at the beginning. Isaak is very conflicted, to the point of hiding himself from the world. Josie is determined to prove the a species of kingfisher is not extinct. Neither expected what happened next.

Cool storyline, great characters, steamy scenes, action and a ton of twists and turns make this a super story, except for having to wait to see what will happen next! Read these in order, if possible. Mated to the Dragon is first and this one is second. Enjoy!

Isaak has always known that he was different and thinks that there is a monster living in his head. Josie has always had a fascination for things that fly and is determined to prove that a species of bird is still alive. Instantly their chemistry is through the roof, but Isaak has fears. Will Isaak discover who his true self is? Will Josie accept everything Isaak is?

LOVED this book! Loved how Isaak really didn't have a clue who he was, but he was so kind and protective. Loved Josie's scientific mind and her acceptance of things. These two were the perfect match!

This is the first time I have red about a shifter who did not know he was shifter. And wow, can one say I loved it, yes you can, and its about dragon's so what there not to like,
Isaak Vallas has been tormented by what he believed to be a monster inside him, thus he hides on his private Island. Until Josie Torres arrives on the Island looking for a certain bird that has been sighted again after all believed it no longer existed.
The two do become close until an enemy comes to disrupt their lives, will Isaak survive, will their love make and bring them the life they both deserve.

A sweet romantic story

This is an easy to read and low angst romance. Issak is a supernatural creature but he doesn’t know it. He was adopted and raised by his human parents. They loved him dearly. Josie is a talented and studies birds. She discovers this white winged bird and goes on an adventure to a private island. This is where Issak rescues Josie when she takes a wrong step. Their awakening begins. Read On!

I was so excited to discover A Mate For the Dragon had a follow up book and dived happily into Lost Dragons book 2 (Fated for the Dragon). I don't want to give a certain something about Josie and Isaak away. So I'll just say I love that they find there way together, how their story ties into book 1 (though you do NOT have to read book 1 to enjoy this one), and can NOT wait for more!!

Bird watchers will love this one!

My mother caught birds in most nets banding them for tracking and study purposes just like the heroine of the story. It was a fun storyline as well as quite accurate. The hero had a quiet strength for a "monster". I can hope for several spinoffs from the reunited Dragon clan.

Fated for the Dragon

I thought they had gotten rid of Bain the first time. I thought perhaps he was a Dragon when he first wanted to buy the ring from her when they first met. I figured Isaak didn't know what he was from the start and that he felt so drawn to her because she was his mate. I hope Magnus gets his happily ever after too.

Another enjoyable series

I have read a lot of Zoe’s books, some of which I have enjoyed more than others. This one is definitely on the enjoyed pile. An intelligent heroine, a mystery of being adopted all adds to a story rather than just the ‘usual’ paranormal romance. Going to look for more ‘Lost Dragons’ now.

Enjoyable Read

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book; especially since it was a sequel. I have loved reading about this list Dragon family. After all the loneliness and other trials a happy ending in both cases was a welcome relief. I am looking forward to the next book in the series. I also hope to read more about Isaak and Josie.

I have been on a shifter binge and that is where I found Zoe. I have enjoyed many of her books since then and am working my way through them. There are some minor editing issues in her early books but not enough to give up reading them.

With many variety of shifters who are hot and true mates I am sure you will enjoy them as much as me.
