A summary from better.me, initiated to provide knowledge for people who crave development

“Intolerance of others’ views (no matter how ignorant or incoherent they may be) is not simply wrong; in a world where there is no right or wrong, it is worse: it is a sign you are embarrassingly unsophisticated or, possibly, dangerous.”
― Jordan B. Peterson, 12 Rules for Life: An Antidote to Chaos

What does the nervous system of the lowly lobster have to tell us about standing up straight (with our shoulders back) and about success in life? Why did ancient Egyptians worship the capacity to pay careful attention as the highest of gods? What dreadful paths do people tread when they become resentful, arrogant and vengeful? Dr. Peterson journeys broadly, discussing discipline, freedom, adventure and responsibility, distilling the world's wisdom into 12 practical and profound rules for life. 12 Rules for Life shatters the modern commonplaces of science, faith and human nature, while transforming and ennobling the mind and spirit of its readers.

Great read. Gave me some life rules to live by that make sense

I recently discovered mr Peterson and must say his way of thinking makes perfect sense. Great, easy read and I plan on looking into more of his ideas.

The book has lot of practical advice. I found book amazing in some parts, boring in some, eye opening in some and practical in most parts. Author summarises about chaos and order in beginning, then goes on to give rules for life. The rules are applicable to most of us and can change our outlook towards some big questions. Book gives hope but not in the sugar coated manner where hope decimate all the problems, instead it lets you know that problems are a part of being. There is nothing to sugar coat the brutality of life and that can be redeeming for some and traumatic for some. The choice we make guides us through life, problems and everything in between.

Great summary to have and review with full book.

I found the original book to present some great thoughts on how to live; I read it first. But I personally wanted to collect the key point of the rules; this book definitely helps accomplish that. I enjoy then returning, selectively, to the complete text to support the entire thought and explanation of a topic.

Short summary

I know this book is popular and I couldn’t handle the author on his own book on Audible and I tried reading it, but still could not handle it. Thank you for the very brief summary.

It's probably a shame that I didn't realize I was reading the summary of the book until I felt it was missing information and checked the cover (why I give it only 3 stars). The result of trying out ebooks! But it was easy enough to read it in a day.

This is definitely a thought provoking book. I would encourage anyone who wants a more fulfilled life to read it. BTW, the cat chapter was my favorite one!

The summary was decent but I think I would gain more information from reading the full text. Overall The summary is slightly useful.

Remember it's just a summary

I was expecting something different, knowing Paterson. But I realized it's a summary. So it's an OK book if you want to read something fast.

Words to live by!!!

I only question the comment that the Bible neglects teaching how to live. ..or however he phrased it.

Good ideas. Since it comes from a Christian perspective, though, (which is fine by me), there was a lot of repetition of good principles but ones I get already in my spiritual study. Ex: Do not lie.
