Pre-read review: Could June please hurry up and be after April so that I can have this book in my hands sooner? (at least I have time to read the other two again)(my heart can't contain the amount of excitement I have for this book)(seriously can June just come now?!)

Post-read review:
This is one of the only books worth reading this year, and I think everyone should pick it up as soon as possible (so now)

It is the kind of book that you want to read in one sitting without stopping, so that you find out what happens, but at the same spend an entire week on so that you can get fully immersed into the story and feel like the story is never going to end. There is no in between.

I can't say much about the actual story because spoilers but I must say that this was incredible. To sum the plot up in three phrases: space pirates, suicide squads and sibling rival. (Yes, I used alliteration on purpose) There was never a moment in this book where I felt bored or confused with the plot which I think is a real achievement. To keep the reader engaged in a story for the entire 384 pages is something special, especially when it is the third book in a trilogy. Every page was different, with action and twists leaping out at you.

The characters have grown on me, although Sky was a diva in this book. There were times when I just wanted to jump into the book and shake her going 'Stop moaning at Kyle. He is trying to help you. Listen to your friends. Stop being so stubborn'. At the end of the day I did love her though. TO summarise Sky, she is the female hero that all the tumblr posts ask for. She is strong on her own, but does accept her friends' help. She can kick butt when she has to. She is kind and caring, but also stubborn when she has to be (and also when she doesn't have to be).

In fact all the characters in this book were perfect. Kyle has grown so much since the first book, becoming stronger both physically and mentally. He stands up for his friends, and literally this whole book is him trying to help Sky (with hilarious (?) consequences). All the secondary characters that we love (plus some new ones) have the right amount of book time so that you don't feel cheated out of a character. Each character is developed so deeply that it is hard to find flaws in Eugene Lambert's writing. My favourite thing about this book is that all the characters are flawed. There are no bad guys and good guys, although we do have people we are rooting for. Both sides do awful things to get what they want but we can't criticise them for it because we know why they are doing what they do.

My only complaint is the amount of exclamation marks in the book because every time I saw an exclamation mark it dragged me out of the plot. However, I can't really comment on this because my reviews usually look! something! like! this! (exclamation party!!!!!!!)

Overall this was a perfect ending to an incredible trilogy. There was no last book slump and I was keen to find out what happened next (rather than putting off reading it for seven years, which is what usually happens). I love this series because no matter who you are you can identify with at least one of the characters.

Eugene Lambert, you deserve a pat on the back (and a really good slice of cake)

I enjoyed the last third of this book much more than the first two thirds. It had a different feel from the first two books in the trilogy - probably because of the altered locations for the action - but it took a good while to settle into the characters again. I felt it ended the story well, no loose ends, but I did find the change of feel rather jarring.
