About the author

Robert Kirkman is an American comic book writer best known for his work on The Walking Dead, Invincible for Image Comics, as well as Ultimate X-Men and Marvel Zombies for Marvel Comics. He has also collaborated with Image Comics co-founder Todd McFarlane on the series Haunt. He is one of the five partners of Image Comics, and the only one of the five who was not one of the original co-founders of that publisher.

Robert Kirkman's first comic books were self-published under his own Funk-o-Tron label. Along with childhood friend Tony Moore, Kirkman created Battle Pope which was published in late 2001. Battle Pope ran for over 2 years along with other Funk-o-Tron published books such as InkPunks and Double Take.

In July of 2002, Robert's first work for another company began, with a 4-part SuperPatriot series for Image, along with Battle Pope backup story artist Cory Walker. Robert's creator-owned projects followed shortly thereafter, including Tech Jacket, Invincible and Walking Dead.

If you are a die-hard The Walking Dead fan, then you will enjoy this book. If you're not, then this isn't for you. And if you also don't like reading or seeing alot of cussing and sex talk, then this isn't the book for you. I couldn't even begin to count the number of times f**k was used, though you may find it interesting to know that Negan has used it in one form or another 792 times in the comic books. You will find this fact and many others in this book. Along with many of the quirky, weird quotes that have made Negan famous in the comics and the show! This book is all about Negan. So if you're a fan of the show, comic and/or Negan then this would be a great addition to your collection. Since obviously I'm a fan, I enjoyed it. It was a quick, enjoyable read. I think I finished it within an hour. Releases July 3!

Hummmm.... What do I say about this book? I will start off by saying that I did win this from the Goodreads giveaways. I like the show but I wouldn't call myself a fangirl. I entered as I know a lot of fangirls and I thought this would be fun. It was. A collection of things Negan said in the show with some tidbits of other information. F-word 792 times. I didn't actually count but you will understand if you read this. Sidenote: I did see who I thought was Jeffery Dean Morgan in Charles Town Walmart once and nearly fell over but it must have been his look alike as there was not a mob, but he could have been visiting the Racetrack and his wife did grow up not too far from here, So I will keep my dream that I saw him but didn't have the nerve to talk to him as it was most likely some random handsome man. I like JDM work but I have a love to hate relationship with Negan. So this books is what is expected. Now how do I rate it, It delivers what it says it will but it wasn't mind-boggling. I was hoping for more backstage tidbits then this delivered. 3 1/2 but I'll bump it up to 4 as they don't allow 1/2 because I really do like JDM and wish there had been some photos included but since this was written by the Creator Robert Kirkman I didn't really expect that to be included.

I won a copy of this book in a Goodreads firstreads giveaway. It's a slim collection of Negan's quotes from the comics divided into somewhat arbitrary categories. All of the quotes and illustrations are from the comics (pardon me: graphic stories), not the TV show. I suspect that rabid fans of either will enjoy this book, though folks who've just watched the show may well be amazed by the extent of the coarse language in the printed version. One of the special features in the book is a chart showing Negan has f-bombed 792 times in the printed dialog, and I'm afraid that if the word were removed from this volume we'd be left with a lot of blank space or an even slimmer book. (Got to give credit for imaginative use of the word though... verb, noun, adjective, adverb... sometimes in the same line of dialog! Don't leave a copy laying about where your kids or mother might pick it up.) I enjoyed and was amused by the book, but I doubt that anyone who's not already a fan would get much out of it.

I just received this book today from the kind folks at Atria Books! I won this in one of the Goodreads giveaways, of which I've entered probably 30 and this is my first win! Goodreads mentioned in the email informing me of my good fortune that reviewing the book might be a worthy way to express my gratitude. I'll try to remember to get back and expound after I've read it, but I have glanced through it, and feel I can make a few comments.

It's a small book, almost the size of my hand, and as the title implies, is not a contribution to the story arc in any way, but is a light hearted look at some of the details of the remarkably foul-mouthed villain we've come to loathe in TWD universe. Kirkman outdid himself with Negan, and this tome, ideal for the "meditation" room, truly lists some of Negan's most offense, creative, and surprising quotes, along with the issue of origin. There is a forward by the aforementioned creator, Robert Kirman himself, an overview of Negan "kills" nearly in the Talking Dead vein, the statistical analysis of his potty-mouthed inclinations that another reviewed referenced, a look at the lesser discussed side of Negan, something on Lucille, and a few other tidbits. I'd consider it a necessary purchase/read for the extreme amongst TWD fandom, as well as a great gift for anyone who has seen the show and enjoyed it even a little, especially to encourage those who've seen the show and haven't read the books.

Love the character, but the even though it warned me, I found the vulgarity too much.(loss of one star.) Apparently, they have toned it down for the public show. I have only seen a few episodes. Many of the quotes are funny (I change the vulgar to not so vulgar in my head) and make a lot of common sense in a Zombie situation. But many of them simply make sense in life.

I will pass this on to some of my friends, those that will appreciate the context of the vulgarity. and , so long as the reader is fully aware of the content, I recommend the book for its outlook on life...

A funny look at the polarizing character of Negan from The Walking Dead. The quotes are from the comics not the TV show. I also enjoyed the funny introduction by Robert Kirkman about the similarities between his own sense of humor and that of the character he created. Necessary disclaimer-most of the quotes have words that are considered profane, but you already knew that if you are a fan (or even a hater) of Negan.

I'm a huge comic book fan so this book was wonderful to win in the giveaways. I'm only about 1/3 of the way through the comics so I haven't been introduced to Negan yet but from everything I've read in this he is going to be one awesome character.

Negan happens to be my favorite character from the comic series. My friends and family all ask, "Why do you like such a terrible person?" It's the character development, and this fun book of Negan quotes highlights some of that progress. Not to mention his choice vocabulary. Whenever I am reading the newest comic, I often read some of Negan's quotes to my husband (who hasn't caught up with the series) just to highlight some of the humor this character gives among the seriousness of the events in the series.

This book is perfect for a Negan-lover like me! While I do find the cussing to be excessive, it's just a part of who his character is and what makes Negan so...Negan!

I also really liked how there are kill counts, F-bomb trackers, and a Lucille timeline, among other things, in this great little book of humor.

What else can be said about this book that the title cannot already tell you? Personally I love a good villain, and Negan making Abraham and Glenn resemble ground beef was actually my first full episode of the show that I watched. That started my binge of the show and small research into the graphic novels. For any fan of Negan, this book is an absolute must.

Once I finished reading it I passed it over to several family members who are also fans and they are enjoying it still. Grab a copy immediately.

Even though I hate him for killing Glenn (and Abraham on the show, may they Rest In Peace) I love all the funny things he says.
