I truly believe that this story will please many young readers and even those who have passed the “coming to age” stage.

The descriptions are one of the pluses of this story. They are in the right amount to give you the possibility to imagine (very vivid imagines) the world /universe(s) of the Spinners’ Saga but, in the same time, they do not hinder the pace of the events.

Once I established that the story takes place in a very nice set, I have to say that the plot is well constructed. Reasons and consequences and the causation links between these are well developed and that gives strength to the story as a whole.

The characters are well shaped and the dialogues... normal, natural. Blaine (the main part) receives the support of various secondary characters; together they enjoy the same care from the author, serving their purposes in accordance with which were created.

The battle between good and evil, right and wrong, love and loyalty, as the classical themes of fantasy stories, will receive new, modern and attractive clothes which are accessorized with some elements of thriller and suspense. Great deeds and sacrifices are required or impossible to avoid.

Since I have only good words for The Telling, the first volume of the Spinner Sagas, it remains to you to see if we share the same tastes in books. As I said already, I’m quite sure many will like Mrs. Moullen’s work.

Enjoy reading!

The Telling definitely had me intrigued from the start, it gets going pretty quickly but can be a lot to get your head around. Whilst the first little part is set on Earth we are soon transported into other worlds.

The world-building was good, it takes a while for some things to be explained but I think that works well considering how much information you need to take in about Renault and the other places that Blaine visits. There was a lot of nice imagery as well, I didn’t find it too difficult to picture anything that was being described.

The premise of the story was interesting and kept me pretty engrossed throughout, always wondering what would happen next. A little bugbear was that there was a lot of build up toward Blaine meeting the antagonist of the book and I felt like the end was a little too rushed to do it justice. It kind of fell a bit flat, and was maybe just a bit too neatly tied up as well.

There was a varied cast of characters, I have to say I loved that there was a unicorn and other creatures rather than just elves and fairies. I felt a bit mixed about Blaine though, she was fine for the most part but there were a few little things like managing to work through her own problems instantaneously, which I think just wouldn’t happen even in a fantasy world and, of course, the insta-love.

I could understand it from Elian’s point of view because he’s been aware of her for a long time but Blaine is too quickly in love for my liking, especially because this is a series so it could have been built up over more time quite easily. That is a very personal thing though I know that there will be readers out there who are all for it.

This series has a lot of promise and I’m looking forward to seeing where it goes next.

I absolutely loved this book. It tells the story of a young girl imbued with magic but since she thinks she is human, she has no idea. When she finds out a little about her background it is only because her mom has decided they must run again. Through a twist of fate, she arrives in an alternate dimension and is surrounded by normal looking people and creatures she has never seen before. It is a fun and exciting story and I highly recommend it to any age that enjoys magic.

This was a wonderful fantasy. It's fast-paced, full of magical creatures and full of magic!  One of my favorite things about this book was the imagery. Also, the characters are just so well written. I really enjoyed this fantasy!

Imaginative YA fantasy tale about a teenager named Blaine who learns her mother comes from a magical world known as Renault and then joins the good people of Renault in their ongoing struggle against the Dark Legion. The author’s descriptions of Renault and its inhabitants are creative, well-written, and a joy to read. Also, the story contains much wisdom about the nature of fear, love, magic, and the soul.

This book quickly dives from our world to the possibility of a whole new realm.. with magic!

I really liked the concept of this book. There are a lot of questions that you and the character share during the first half of the story. And of course, no one wants to give us a splinter of an explanation.

One of my favorite parts in the story is the mother. The development that comes from her is definitely unique and makes you want to read more. I was really surprised in how she played out in their magical realm and the consequences that she now has on her daughter. It’s not a twist that is normally seen in YA.

I gave this book 4 out of 5 stars. The creatures are also unique and intriguing to learn more about. There is a romance mixed in but you’ll just have to read to figure out who it’s with.

The plot itself wasn’t too hard to follow. The dialogue was a little frustrating in that everyone was super vague, but overall this an enjoyable read!

When I began reading The Telling, I wasn’t sure that I was going to enjoy it. It has a bit of a slow, confusing start; however, I kept reading and I am so glad I did.
The imagery is phenomenal, the descriptions of the landscapes are breathtaking and it is so easy to visualize them. Of course, once Kern, the unicorn entered the picture, it was on! Anyone that knows me knows that I am obsessed with unicorns!
The characters are beautifully developed and I found myself wanting to know more about them. Blaine is a strong heroine, who doesn’t realize just how incredible she is.
The storyline, itself, moves along at a fast pace, once you get through the beginning. There is plenty of fantastic adventure and action to keep you wanting more. I actually found myself on the edge of my seat waiting to see what happened next.
This is a must-read for lovers of YA fantasy! All in all, very well done!

💥For this story the title is completely fitting. It's appealing to the cover I prefer. The author used plain, straightforward vocabulary that allows readers to communicate what the author wants to do.
💥I enjoyed this book's idea too much. During the first half of the plot there are several questions you and the character share. And nobody wants to give us an explanation, naturally.
💥The foundation of the plot was fascinating and had very absorbed, constantly asking what was going to happen next. A bugbear was that Blaine was about to face the book's adversary and I found that the conclusion was a bit too easy to do justice. It fell a little flat, and maybe was also somewhat too well attached.
💥Blaine continues to see a bizarre, silhouetted character everywhere she is and she realises, when she tells her mother about it, her magic is in another dimension and so is evil.
💥I loved “The Telling” too much. It's mystical, imaginative, and it reminded me of the Ring Lord a little. This is a fast reading and you can find yourself torn between who you can trust, with whom you will root and who you would like to see get their only desserts.

I received my copy of this book via Goodreads giveaway which has no bearing on my review.

I really don't like giving up on books I've won through a giveaway. particularly when the author took the time to personalize and sign the book before shipping it, but this was just something I couldn't get into. The writing style didn't grip me, and it felt very generic. I hope it finds a home with someone who will enjoy it more.
