Michael Hutchinson's Tiddy Mun is an energetic leap through the history of Axholme from the 17th century up to pre-Covid 21st century. The story is well-paced and the characters are credible. I feel that Andrew Pinder's character might have been further developed - and I wonder if therein lies another tale! I hope so because I found it difficult to put this book down. The background of Environmental Science/Ecology works so well with a story set in this fascinating landscape so altered by man's intervention and steeped in folklore and superstition.

I'd love to read another book by Michael Hutchinson - and I'd really enjoy a second tale about my native Isle! Either Michael Hutchinson has a similar background - or he has spent a great deal of time finding out about it!

Tiddy Mun! This is my kind of book! Not overly written. It kept me interested the whole way through. It’s a wonderful, slightly detective mystery involving an old English water spirit, a spiritual medium, a wise old woman and her familiar black cat, a creepy room, a writer, an unknown body found in an ancient bog, a death, lots of water, magical amulets, and incantations! I absolutely loved it and highly recommend it.

The author brings a unique perspective to this narrative. The story follows an academic who became dangerously entangled in the old tales of the region.
