“I’m a good vampire, Quinn. Not a good man. I can’t have it both ways, and neither can you.”

Forget everything you know about vampires.

They’re as mortal as you are. They’re born, they live, and they die as vampires. They eat, sleep, laugh, and bleed like you do. And when immortality isn’t an option, they have much, much more to lose.

Zane Carus lost his father at fifteen. Over the next seventeen years, he built a family of rogue vampires alongside his sister, Savannah. The strongest of his kind in Vegas, Zane became a known, respected, and feared Coven Master, ruling the streets of Vegas like a king.

Until he nearly killed a rival Coven Master in a brutal confrontation, and the rest of the Sin City Sanguines declared war.

Now his coven has disbanded, Savannah is a captive of the rival coven, and Zane is being hunted by every faction in Vegas to answer for his crime. And when he’s caught, a horrific fate is already in store for him.

It’s up to his old friend and lover, Quinn Masterson, to find him and rescue him before his captors can carry out their demonic intentions. As a detective and a Witch, she should have no trouble, but pitting herself against every vampire, vampire hunter, and hybrid in Vegas is a deadly venture. Quinn will stop at nothing to see her vampire safe again, even if it costs more than her life to save him.

In a world of vampires, witches, and hybrids, we meet Zane. A vampire with a rough and tumble personality and a background that could bring anyone to tears. His Black Star and closest confidant, Quinn, is loyal only to him and swears the bond they share is more than just a Blood Bond. When he’s kidnapped by a hybrid named, Miranda, Quinn will invoke the forces of every being she can to see to it that he’s returned safely.

Just so many good things to say about this book, I’m not sure where to begin.

First, I want to say that I’ve never read a book with such interesting lore inside of it. The way that Miss Sebring blends the worlds and lives of vampires and witches was fascinating. Not to mention the classic vampire mythology that was explored and examined in a new light. No hate against YA vampire books or anything, but it is so refreshing to see an adult vampire book. Quinn, as a detective in the human world, had so much more to lose than any of the characters.

And speaking of the characters, even though there were a lot of them, they were each fantastic in their own way. Zane was fun to read. His sarcastic comments and martyr complex made him interesting.

Miranda, a hybrid, was a solid enemy. With her hive of vampires at her disposal, she was fearsome. She had some dangerous ideals in mind for Zane, though I have to say I did not expect what happened when she moved to put those plans into action.

What else is interesting? That twist at the end of the story. I never saw that coming, but it’s always a good thing to see characters evolve throughout a story. Seeing a hero take a turn for the darkness is a fascinating way to go.

So much action, suspense, and even a tinge of romance in this book. It has everything that a vampire lover would adore. In my opinion, this series should be popularized over stories like Twilight.

One last note: I love the way that the author also built up tension in the background of the main story for events that I am sure move over to book two in the series. And oh, how glad I am that there are two more of books set in this awesome world for me to devour.

An enjoyable vampire book, with some fun, original world building. Writing could be bare and telly, but it was really easy to read through. Proud of my friend for putting her book out there for the world to see :D

"It's not over. It's far from over. There's only one way he'll still be safe. Only one way he can come back. They're going to have to die. All of them."

I'm all for a good vampire story. This one rocked it!! So much more than I expected!! Twists, turns, betrayal, unexpected alliances, and all beneath it a love story.

Zane Carus crossed a line. In an uncontrollable rage he nearly killed Damien, a rival coven leader. Now, Zane's coven has abandoned him, and he's got a target on his back. Hunters, witches, hybrids - they all want to see him suffer. When he is captured, the question becomes who is responsible and where have they taken him? It's up to his Black Star and local detective Quinn Masterson to put all the pieces together and try to save him. Will she be in time to save him from his fate? Does he even want her to? After everything he's done, he doesn't deserve to be saved - and he doesn't deserve her love.

Quinn Masterson is blood-bound to Zane. She's his Black Star -his nourishment - and she'll do anything for him. When he's taken, she and her team of fellow witches put their powers together to try to find him and destroy those responsible. But, when it becomes clear there is a plot against him much bigger than she ever imagined, she'll take matters in to her own hands. She needs Zane safe and she'll give up everything to make it happen.

I loved these characters! Zane is sexy and alluring. Quinn makes being a BlackStar a sensual opportunity that make you want to become one too. Quinn's fellow witches have such diverse personalities but they mesh so well. And the villians? You can't help but love to hate them! I cannot wait to see what happens next!!

"Zane" Sin City Sanguines #1 by Amanda Seabring is a good solid fast paced read. I like the idea of the vampires possessing normal human life spans. Being human, but with a vampire gene inside. A more scientifically plausible portrayal of the worlds favorite monster. However this book, its characters, still stick to the classic mythos, traits, and motives of their respective being so keeps the story grounded in the fantastical, para-normal realm. The story line and plot is interesting, and fun. I believe this book, the coming series has great potential.

I really liked this book and I definitely want to see what happens in the next book. With betrayal, angst, love, revenge and a plot so twisty you may just get dizzy!! The characters are great, some you connect with instantly and others you just might want to bury in the bush, but overall a great read!

Vampires have their bite again.

I will always have a place in my heart for vampires, they are my absolute favourite and I will even admit that lately the vampire reads have become a bit monotonous and repetitive. Not ZANE!

Amanda has a wicked way with words and storytelling, her prose is on point with a great knack for scenes that get your heart racing and fingers wanting to turn those proverbial pages. From the beginning to the end, ZANE left me on my seat, squirming at times and falling in love with the characters that Amanda has created.

Darkly delightful with masterful storytelling and a kickass imaginative world, you cannot go wrong with this book. I devoured it and sit and wait for its successor, because Sin City Sanguines is a staple on my vampire fiction shelf.

With enough action, blood thirst and angst, there is a rollercoaster of emotions the characters face and with Amanda’s spot on writing, you feel like you are ok their shoes. I loved it, I loved it, I LOVED IT.

Been a while since modernesque vampires lulled me in, but after a little while this really bought me back to why I like them. Vampires, witches and hybrids are the supernatural element of this tale. Zane an infamous vampire ,(not in the classic sense as such, more like a tweaked realism to those people out there who cut and feed, believing in the whole folk lore but these have got the fantasy elements, blood rage, strength, the power to thrall people etc.) He does something unethical and causes a domino effect which leads him to be kidnapped. Meanwhile his "girlfriend-free meal" Quinn a human but a Las Vegas cop uses her witch friends and anyone to help find him. Things go bad when the hybrids are working with one of Zane's rivals and needing his blood for dark magick.
Once it gets going you will love the little differences to other vampire tales yet still be in somewhat similar territory

A different kind of vampire

Zane hits the ground running. The world within the book feels like it was already in motion before the first page of the story. Which is refreshing. These characters exist on their own and it’s up to the reader to get to know them and their surroundings.

This seedy world of Vampires, hybrids, and witches is thrown into chaos when the title character, Zane, gives in to his own chaotic nature and sets events into motion that threaten the balance of this delicate ecosystem.

Zane is a no-brainer for fans of Vampire lore and stories about dark creatures of the night. It’s a much needed new take on the genre.
