He's one big no-no. But all she wants to do is scream, "Yes, yes, yes!"
This is going to be a Christmas to remember for journalist Giselle Randolph! Especially when she meets her new photographer. Because she'll be working-in very close quarters-with the man she's lusted after for years. Sexy Sam McKendrick...her former brother-in-law!
Sam's been in love with Giselle from the first moment he met her. Too bad he was married to her sister at the time. But he's not married now...and he's going to make sure Giselle knows how he feels. With a little help from a native shaman, he tunes in to her fantasies...and makes it a point to fulfill every one!
But perfectly taboo sex always has a price. And fantasies can take a guy only so far...
First, let me say this is how I show up at my desk every morning to write. Dahling, I couldn’t possibly write a word unless I was wearing 3-inch heels with a Martini at hand. NOT!!! But it’s so different, and face it, infinitely less scarey than the way I usually work, running shorts and t-shirt with a cup of tea nearby, that I had to put this picture up.
I’ve been an avid reader ever since I was growing up on a farm in south Georgia. At that time I dreamed of writing poetry while living in The Big Apple and traveling the world. Fast forward, bypassing lots of not-so-glamourous jobs such as barbeque joint waitress, telemarketer, and corporate numbers cruncher, to today’s reality. I write contemporary romance, live in The Big Peach (ya know, Atlanta), and I’m working on the world travel.
I actually live in the suburbs with my husband, daughter, three cats, two rescue greyhounds, and chihuahua who bosses the whole house.
Writing is one of the best jobs in the world and one of the most miserable–depending on which day you’re asking. However, obviously the best outweighs the most miserable or I wouldn’t be working on that next book. So, here’s the straight skinny on the good, the bad, and the downright ugly.
It was okay. I didn't find it all that steamy, like some other blaze novels are. Giselle is lusting after her sister's ex, but wants nothing to do with him after finding out he cheated on her. He's been listing after her and now that she's also divorced, he manages to wrangle his way into the business trip to be close to her. There's also a bit of magical realism, but some of the reasons why it's there is really glossed over and almost forgotten. Giselle's sister is an entitled younger sister who's gotten everything she's ever wanted while Giselle is off in the corner with nothing. You kind of get the rest of the story from there.
Feature writer, Giselle Randolph, has been looking forward to Christmas for ages. She's flying off to Sedona to write a magical story. But her plans for a peaceful time are ruined when she realises her photographer is Sam McKendrick - the man she has been in love with for years...and her former brother-in-law!
For Sam, working in close quarters with Giselle is a dream come true. He's felt a connection to Giselle ever since he met her. Unfortunately he was married to her sister at the time. But that's all ancient history now and, with the help of a mystical shaman, Sam taps into every one of Giselle's fantasies, and is determined to make all her dreams come true.
This book is one of a series that deals with forbidden fantasies - in this case, an ex brother/sister-in-law. Giselle is a particularly good character with insecurities enough to make her likeable and someone to root for. Understandably, she has reservations about a relationship with Sam, but in the end she can't deny her feelings. Sam too was a great hero - sexy, slightly arrogant and passionate.
The pair had great chemistry and the book was filled with plenty of tension, heat and sex - perfect to heat up a cold night in the run up to Christmas.
The story was realistic and interesting, the emotions real and engaging and the characters, fun and likeable. Overall, this was a delightfully sexy story with a warm, happy ending - perfect for a great Blaze romance.
I mean, not that I had high hopes here, but this is legitimately one of the worst pieces of writing I have ever read. Typos and grammar errors here and there, lackluster descriptions of what’s happening, massive plot points being given little to no time to actually be important or explained (looking at you Vortex), and such incredibly unbearable characters and situations for them to be in. I understand sex sells, and I’m realizing rather quickly I am not the target demographic for this type of thing, but smut CAN be well written if you try, and this simply just isn’t. Do yourself a favor and skip this one. Find something with a bit better writing. The plot (the magic stuff, mostly) itself could have been fun if executed well, but with little care given to the actual writing and more focus pushed onto the pure drama of constantly reminding you that this guy slept with her sister and she’s not as hot as her, it’s just not compelling.
The attraction that flares between Giselle and her sister's husband is certainly one of the forbidden kind. Two years on, these two get a chance to test whether the intense connection between them could lead to something more, a chance that they both have to be willing to take, for it to turn into something long and everlasting. My only thing about this is was you would think Giselle would have a little bit more guilt about sleeping with her sister's ex-husband. Instead Giselle just kept comparing herself to her sister.
