Preggers is your new favorite guide to pregnancy, from trying to get pregnant all the way up to labor and delivery. It's the perfect combination of informative and funny, and you'll love reading about the crazy, wonderful, disgusting things that happen during pregnancy. Filled with tips and practical suggestions to help you survive pregnancy, Preggers gives you all the information you need without being overwhelming or too medical. You'll laugh, you'll cry, and you'll feel like someone actually gets what it's like to be pregnant! Whether you're a naive first-time mama or a seasoned third-time mama, this book is for you!
This was such a fun read! As a third-time mom, I didn’t necessarily learn anything new, but would definitely recommend it to all my first-time momma friends! This is the pregnancy book you want to read.
Initially I wasn't too sure about this book, but as it progressed I am definitely a fan. The lists are extremely helpful, and the information super informative.
Although I've read several pregnancy books, this book still managed to include information I'd never heard before (like avoiding wire bras) and the conversational tone kept me engaged. It's a pity this book isn't better known because it's full of information that's not only valuable, it's the kind of thing that you didn't know you wanted to know - but feel better when you do.
Johnson is an excellent writer, and Preggers had the style of a novel but the information of a reference book - which is wonderful, especially since I fully expect to be referring to this book again when I get pregnant, and for every subsequent pregnancy after that. In fact, if Johnson has written other books (especially on the topic of pregnancy) hand them over because I need to read them, stat!
I would recommend this book to all moms-to-be, especially first time moms, and love that there is even a small section for husbands ... so as you are reading this book, make sure to share that with him. Although the ever-popular Belly Laughs was good, Preggers knocks that book out of the water ... so definitely give it a try, especially if you are on a pregnancy book reading binge (like me).
P.S: Preggers is the kind of book you give to a friend when they get pregnant. Friends, you've been forewarned ;) .
I was lucky enough to read Preggers before it was published, and let me tell you- I wish this book had been around 5 years ago when I was pregnant with my first. This is not a boring, textbook like pregnancy book. I felt like my sister was telling me everything people don’t like to talk about regarding pregnancy. Hemorrhoids, pooping after delivery, postpartum depression, that I still would need to wear maternity pants for months after delivery... it’s all covered in Preggers. I am so excited to send a copy to a few pregnant ladies in my family so they don’t have to learn about some of the less desirable parts of pregnancy on their own!
