A holiday story from the award-winning Axel Scheffler that’s just right for toddlers
It’s Christmastime, and Pip and Posy are busy decorating the tree with gingerbread and a beautiful sugar star. But the decorations keep mysteriously disappearing from the tree until there are none left at all. . . . Oh, dear! What will happen when Posy finds Pip lying on the sofa, feeling sick? Is it possible Pip might know what’s happened to all of the ornaments? A charming and funny new Pip and Posy story about honesty, with gentle lessons about friendship.
Axel was born in Hamburg, Germany. At school he was good at art, but didn’t think of a career in illustration until he won a cuddly purple cow in a drawing competition.
He moved to England in 1982 to learn English and study illustration at the Bath Academy of Art and then set up home in London. Axel illustrated a number of books for various publishers, and in 1993 Kate suggested him as the illustrator for Julia Donaldson’s first picture book text, A Squash and a Squeeze. This was the start of a hugely successful partnership: their bestselling modern classic, The Gruffalo, has sold over three-and-a-half million copies worldwide, and the TV animation was broadcast on Christmas day 2009.
Axel has illustrated a number of other highly successful books, including Muddle Farm, and his books have been translated into 42 languages.
Axel lives in London with his partner and young daughter.
If you have a niece, you get to read another short book that totally counts towards your reading goal. And no, this is still not an embarrassing attempt to cheat in order to meet said goal at the end of yet another year that was difficult difficult lemon difficult.
Hihii, kerrassaan mainio joulukirja!
Pip and Posy decorate their Christmas Tree with yummy-looking sweets. When Posy leaves the room to run various errands, the edible decorations start to disappear. The illustrations make it clear where the ornaments have gone, and young listeners will be delighted to point it out. Eventually the tree is bare and Pip has a stomach ache. Pip confesses his mistake to Posy and they work together to come up with a solution. A cute story about friendship and Christmas that works well for toddlers, teaching a gentle lesson while showcasing the fun of Christmas.
This book describes one activity that is done during the Christmas season. The activity is decorating the Christmas tree. The characters of the story, Pip and Posy, who seems to be brother and sister, decides to decorate their Christmas tree. They did so first with decorating cookies, hanging candy canes and chocolate bells. However, every time Posy gets new decorations to hang on the tree, Pip kept eating those that were already hung, like the cookies and candy canes. By the time Posy got the star to put on the top of the tree Pip had eaten all the decorations and was now feeling sick. Posy, shocked and disappointed at what Pip had done, brought him a glass of water to feel better. He apologized to Posy for eating all the decorations and then they both decided to make paper decorations to decorate the tree instead. When they were finished, they placed their presents under the tree and enjoyed opening them on Christmas day.
I loved this book, it was a good read because it reminds me of the Christmas season, which I love a lot. The pictures were all colorful and bright reflecting the colors that I see around Christmas time. It was also quite funny every time Posy was putting a new decoration on the tree the previous ones went missing. I think Pop learnt his lesson in the end that too much candy at one time was not at all good for the stomach.
This book can be used across all age groups. It can be a regular story read in the home around Christmas time. It can also be a great introductory story for a teacher doing a lesson on the topic, 'Decorating A Christmas Tree.' It can also be one of the themed books displayed in the classroom when covering the theme of 'Christmas Seasons.' This can teach lessons of helpfulness, honesty, trustworthiness, patience, contentment (Pip didn't have to eat all the candy on the tree), care and love for each other.

It's Christmas and Pip & Posy have brought home a tree to decorate themselves. First they make cookies to hang on the tree, but when Posy is out of the room, Pip eats one, then he eats a candy cane and eventually everything has been eaten and Pip feels very sick. How will they get the tree decorated in time for Christmas?
Pip and Posy are great siblings - Posy's reaction to Pip eating the decorations is great - the illustrations are hilarious. They don't blame or fight, just figure it out. A wonderful Christmas book about working together.
Pip and Posy decorate the Christmas tree with sugar cookie ornaments, but the next day Pip isn't feeling well. Could that be the reason that the ornaments have disappeared and the tree is bare once again? A very cute story, and one which I'm surprised isn't older than it is; it has the feel of a classic despite the fact that it's only been out for a year, and I wouldn't be surprised if this story becomes a Christmas staple in the future.
Pip and Posy book series are so bad. I read the books: With snail, with frog on the beach all of them are presented like Pip or Posy has real unhelathy negative emotions that are using as a tool for manupilation to get what they want. Also they are no happy when another is happy. Total unhealthy with so bad stories. Illustartions are interesing and good.
The illustrations are simply adorable in this book. However, the story falls flat. The plot jumps around and is fairly inconsistent. Nevertheless, it is a Christmas story, so it's fitting for the season.
