i also hate books about books (usually) because there is so much about literary criticism and commentary that doesn't interest me. but this one is good. not for a serious scholar--but that's why i liked it. it just got to the point and explained the poem without waxing long on all the history of literary criticism leading up to this point or all the possible other interpretations, etc etc etc... just great for anyone who wants to understand the wasteland--or an undergrad who needs to write a term paper fast. well anyway.
