FOUR SPLENDID SPRINGWATER NOVELS—TOGETHER FOR THE FIRST TIME!
The daughter of a town marshal, Linda Lael Miller is a #1 New York Times and USA TODAY bestselling author of more than 100 historical and contemporary novels, most of which reflect her love of the West. Raised in Northport, Washington, Linda pursued her wanderlust, living in London and Arizona and traveling the world before returning to the state of her birth to settle down on a spacious property outside Spokane. Linda traces the birth of her writing career to the day when a Northport teacher told her that the stories she was writing were good, that she just might have a future in writing. Later, when she decided to write novels, she endured her share of rejection before she sold Fletcher’s Woman in 1983 to Pocket Books. Since then, Linda has successfully published historicals, contemporaries, paranormals, mysteries and thrillers before coming home, in a literal sense, and concentrating on novels with a Western flavor. For her devotion to her craft, the Romance Writers of America awarded her their prestigious Nora Roberts Lifetime Achievement Award in 2007. Long a passionate Civil War buff, Linda has studied the era avidly for almost thirty years. She has read literally hundreds of books on the subject, explored numerous battlegrounds and made many visits to her favorite, Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, where she has witnessed re-enactments of the legendary clash between North and South. Linda explores that turbulent time in The Yankee Widow, a May 7, 2019 MIRA Books hardcover, also available in digital and audiobook formats. Dedicated to helping others, “The First Lady of the West” personally financed fifteen years of her Linda Lael Miller Scholarships for Women, which she awarded to women 25 years and older who were seeking to improve their lot in life through education. She anticipates that her next charitable endeavors will benefit four-legged critters. Though I liked this book, I didn't feel that it was up to the same caliber as her more recent books. The Stonecreek series is much better, but you can see where LLM has really grown as a writer.
There is four different stories in this book and each one centers on the town of Springwater. Each woman comes to town for different reasons and ends up finding love.
I had to set this aside for a couple of weeks and read something else before I went back to it because I lost interest.
Tasteful romance for those who want something to just wrap a blanket, grab a cup of hot chocolate and read on.. Linda Lael Miller has always been one of my favorite authors. Her books are always tasteful. This one in particular is a History romance novel. Has four books in one! So, I am serious when I say grab a blanket and hot chocolate! :) Enjoy!!!
Please, consider yourself fortunate to be reading this book .. several stories about a town and the pioneers who settled it and loved it and found love in it!
I usually stay away from books that have have multiple stories in them, but I took a chance since I adore Linda Lael Miller. I'm glad I took that chance! All 4 stories came to life on the page with lovable characters, a little bit of action, and, of course, some romance. Definitely looking forward to finishing this series!
This book is actually a compilation of four short stories that are very loosely connected. Perhaps the most significant commonality they have is that they are set in the fictional frontier town of Springwater, Montana.
Young single Rachel responds to an ad for a schoolteacher in Springwater. She is from the East, and she has some pretty rigid ideas about how things ought to be. The last thing she intends on doing is falling for the part-owner of the local saloon. Predictably, that’s what happens here.
Savannah’s story begins a year or two after Rachel’s concludes. She’s not a prostitute, but she does own a part of the saloon in which Rachel’s husband is invested. Convinced she’ll never marry because of the town’s assumptions about her career, she prepares for a relatively lonely all-business life, but the town doctor, himself a misfit with bad memories of the recently concluded Civil War, finds in her qualities that heal his own life and that could be used to help heal others.
Miranda is an unwed mom who hits town a few years after Savannah and the doctor marry. She has no real goals, no future, and only one idea—to escape where she’s been and start somehow somewhere new. She, too, assumes her status as used-goods will mean no marriage. But there’s a widower in town with decidedly other ideas. He’s quite ok with her baby if she can learn to deal with his young hellion sons.
Jessica hits town intent on saving her deceased brother’s newspaper and making a home for his twin baby girls. His brother’s wife had also died, and the children were orphans. One of the folks she deals with early in Springwater is an attorney, about whom her brother had warned her. But the two ultimately find love despite her brother’s warnings.
This was a good book, but not wonderful. I enjoy reading series, so having 4-in-1 was perfect! The characters were fun and the stories were well written. A couple of times I felt like portions were cut out or severely edited for length, leaving the story a little lacking in spots. Still recommend, just not exuberantly
I love the Springwater girls! I can't get enough of them. Months after I read this book I am still thinking about the stories and how I would love to read them other! If it just weren't for all the other books I plan on reading I would! Highly recommended!!

Love this Book. I had them individually but I like getting the set in one book. Great reading. A little too much sexual stuff but I always skip over that. It's 4 different women with different backgrounds ending up in the same town. I have read several of her books. Very good Author.
Even though all 4 stories were predictable, they were still entertaining. LLM has the ability to write characters that are generally interesting and keeps the story moving along.
Great stories about stubborn and powerful women and men who fall in love ... I love me some old school throw back stories of pioneering days. I enjoyed this one.
Pretty typical for this author. Not very complex, but an ok way to spend an afternoon or plane ride. I won't hold onto this one, though. It's not a keeper I'll need to re-read
Wonderful series of books. I especially found it hard when the story or Miranda came to an end. I just wanted to keep reading about this women's stories.
Really enjoyed the first two stories in this antho, but found myself skimming the other two after the 2nd chapters. Still, very well written! And loved to see the evolution of the characters:)
