Behavior Management: From Theoretical Implications to Practical Applications

Rate this book
This student-friendly text presents the most coherent wealth of information for any current behavior management textbook, addressing stereotypical beliefs regarding the use of reinforcement, punishment, and self-control and providing clear guidance, real-life examples, and fill-in charts that demonstrate how to effectively manage a wide range of problem behavior in children. It is written in an easy-to-read style and provides students with a solid background in both the implications and applications of behavior management.

I really wish textbooks did a better job catering to their audience, and that author's stop forcing down "ideas" without reflecting on their own practices first. It's the twenty-first century. Also, I was irritated with the amount of "data collection." I can't help but wonder if anyone actually does these things. It all seems so unrealistic and impractical. This detail of analysis would be impossible for a teacher with thirty kids in their classroom to even begin to handle, let alone secondary teachers who work with some 100 students every day.

I read this book from beginning to end thanks to a wonderful professor(sarcasm). It was too much information. A condensed version of this is needed. I don't want to look at another book for 2 years. My eyes feel like they will never be the same after all this reading in a short amount of time. Seriously, I need to make an eye doctor appointment asap.

A really useful textbook. I'm very glad that I purchased a physical copy of it. It will live in my classroom for a very long time and be consulted when I need another approach. The book helped me synthesize about seven different methods and provided the research behind them all. Absolutely wonderful and, even better, it's actually readable.

This textbook was an interesting read for a class. It has a lot of valuable information on behavior management especially focusing on students with disabilities or students with intervention plans. I will definitely use it as a part of my teaching reference library.

It was my first ever textbook for special education. I took it with Michele in summer 2010. I liked the book.
