Tate Verhoven was broken by an accident that destroyed his legs and his confidence. After a foolish decision, he also lost the woman he loved--to his brother. Feeling betrayed and broken, Tate hides in darkness. Even Cady McCoy is hard pressed to help.
Marcia came to Texas merely to help her sisters, Fatima and Lucy. The Verhovens also need her help after the devastating events of the past weeks. With a heart of stone and steel wall around it, she's not there to make friends. Designing an expansive plan to help the Verhoven ranch thrive, Marcy is ready to take on the world.
It takes the death of just one head of cattle on a neighboring farm for the accusations of witchcraft and bad juju to start flying. Cady and Lucy are first for the guillotine.
While Tate's fighting mental illness, superstition, and the mysterious death of cattle around Austin, he's desperate to find his place again. Taking on the task of proving Cady and Lucy innocent may be exactly what he needs.
To his surprise, the da Silva girls aren't done with him-- or his heart--yet.
Armed with her Bachelors of English, Literature from Montclair State University and a pen name, Katherine Rhodes has set her mind to writing adult romances which are kinky, dirty, and fun. A lackadaisical laundry goddess, expert in the profundities of bad movies, terrible music, and awful literature, she resides in Philadelphia with her husband and two cats.
An interesting turn of events for Tate. His depression and anger worsens. After treatment he has been diagnosed with a form of bipolar disease. He is faced with a long road for treatment while experimenting with various medications to keep him mellow. Life is finally starting to get better for him, when he is asked to help father information to prove the innocence of a couple of friends. Plus he is falling in live. Am amazing story that becomes totally addictive. Many surprises before reaching a happy ending.
"Empire of Dirt" (Hell Yeah! Kindle Worlds/The da Silva Heirs Book 3) by Katherine Rhodes is a fantastic read. I loved Tate and Marcia's story. This is a wonderful addition to the Hell Yeah! Kindle Worlds and The da Silva Heirs series. This story has passion, second chances, entertaining characters, dealing with mental illness, and more. I can't wait to see what happens next! Highly recommend to all fans of romance, horses, family, and series.
I loved this book. When I started it I wasn't sure I would like it but it caught me in the second chapter and I couldn't put it down. This is the third book in this series of the di Salvo's but it also part of the Hell Yeah World. Katherine Rhodes did a great job with the mental illness subject matter. The story is well written and it show the heartbreak that goes with mental illness. I encourage everyone to get this book. The only real spoiler that I will give you is there is a happy ending.
I must say that even though some more editing needed to be done I really liked this book. Several places wrong character names were used but the story line was spectacular. It addressed a few very tough subjects including abuse, mental illness, and guard wiener dogs. And that's just some highlights. This is my favorite in this series. I loved the ending to Marcy and Tates rocky road to happiness
