LA Guagua Aerea (Paperback) by Luis R. Sanchez - Spanish Edition

This is a collection of 29 essays, newspaper articles, interviews, and reviews associated with the Puerto Rican writer Luis Rafael Sanchez.

Four of the essays are Sanchez's interviews conducted by various journalists. Several are reviews of new books that were published and reviewed by the author. Thre of them are essays talking about Spanish American writers: Mario Vargas-Llosa, Antonio Martorell, and Mandrake Morrison.

The main theme is Puerto Rico as a US colony: how Puerto Rican have maintained their cultural integrity in spite of over 100 years of colonization. How Spanish survives in spite of the English imposition to Puerto Ricans.

The title essay: La Guaga Aerea - The flying bus - deals with the San Juan to New York flight that many Puerto Ricans take on a regular basis and how they try to maintain their identities, but most of the time, they end up not belonging to either place.

It's a short book, 185 pages, but it doesn't work for me. Narrated from the universal point of view, it tries to touch on too many topics and does not elaborate on any of them, I found it a waste of time.

DNF after a couple of chapters.

Why I DNF? I was way too young when I was assigned to read this at school. I didn't understand half of what I was reading and thus, I was bored out of my mind.
