The drawings in this children's book are marvelous! I found myself chuckling at them as I read. The Hungry Thing and the small Hungry Thing come to a school and want to be fed, but they don't quite know the names of the foods. It is challenging for children to guess what these names are, and to decide what the small Hungry Thing desires most of all. I love books that make children think.
One of my favorite childhood books! I loved the wacky use of rhymes and learning about how sometimes we need to be more understanding of other peoples communication methods.
I really like this book because it has a story unlike one I have heard before and its illustrations are very unique! In addition, its rhyming is always enjoyable.
This would be a great read aloud. The Hungry things come to school and ask for "Flamburgers, bellyjeans, and crackeroni and sneeze" and the students have to figure out what they really mean. I think it would be great to have the class guesss what it is. This story doesn't really have a moral or lesson, it's just strange and fun!
I'm not sure where I got the recommendation to read this book. I thought it was okay but my five year old enjoyed it. It's kind of silly and is a good way to give kids more exposure to rhyming.
