Demonic Tales #3

Demons Don't Duel

Rate this book
Dea's life is all about his role as a commander of a battlecruiser. At the height of his career, he can take command of any ship he wants, he's well respected, and surrounded by friends and family. Yet, something has been missing for a long time. Part of his soul was left behind at the academy, with someone he walked away from all those years ago.
Uri loves control. It's in every part of his life, his work as commander, his friendships, and even the bedroom, but there is one person he can't control, and that is the one person who turns his life upside down.
A deadly attack forces Dea and Uri to work together, putting their troubled past behind them for the survival of all those under their command. Yet, working together could be the toughest challenge either of them has ever faced as memories bombard them, stirring up feelings that were never dealt with. They struggle to resist the pull they have on each other, falling back into old habits, no matter how hard they try to resist them.
With shadowy forces trying to seize power, enemies old and new come out of hiding, and the battles begin to rage. The future of not just the demons, but other worlds hang precariously on the edge of a blade. Life and death decisions need to be made, and Uri and Dea find themselves leaning on each other as they lead their crews through treacherous space.
With conspiracies and plots all around them, they soon realize they are all in greater danger than anyone believed possible, and the plans to change the Alliance go far deeper than they first thought.

I really liked all books in this series but this is definitely my favorite. Uri and Dea are great characters (although I had troubles with Uri for the first 5% ... till I got to see his POV for the first time)

I liked the story and how it developed. the relationship development was well done ... as it was not an insta-love thing (or maybe it was but it does not show)
the only thing I did not really like were the flashbacks as they did not really contribute to the story

... and there are so many characters I want stories with. I want Evans story ... pretty, pretty please (with a blue demon ;) )

Awesome

Demons, political intrigue, high space adventure and hot MM action. This book, and this series, has it all. Fantastic read, captured my attention from the first page until the last. Hannah Walker is an excellent author that offers thrilling stories filled with everything you need to have a great read. I really appreciate that while the romance is central theme, it's just one of them. There is a lot more to the story than romance & sex. Hot sex. I highly recommend this book and series to any fan of hot MM action, sci-fi and good political intrigue.

Much better read

This book was much better than most of the series. There was a tendency to over monologue by the characters in the previous books. As well as inappropriate humor at inappropriate times. It made the books tiresome. This one had much less. It still had some of the over fruity language but it was somewhat bearable. It was much too long I thought. But a lot about the conspiracy was cleared up. The reason for the amity between Uri and Dea was never really full explained. Their relationship was not the main focus of the book. Their future was not decided. They are both commanders. Where will the live - how will they have a relationship? Is there another book coming? Makes me wonder who Evan will end up with as well. Anyway I still enjoy this author.

This is the third book that I have read in the Demonic Tales series and I liked it just as much as I did the previous books. I always like when a couple have a pre-existing relationship. I sometimes get tired of the whole insta-love thing and it’s nice when the MCs have a foundation already that they build their relationship from. Once the two got fully together, I really liked them and thought they made a good pair. I was pleasantly surprised that in addition to the crew members serving under Uri & Dea, we also got to meet a new Avanti crew. It is my hope that they will serve as the MCs in future books.

I think my biggest complaint was the use of flashbacks. I’m not a big fan. I always find myself impatient during the flashback sequences wanting to get back to the main story. This story was a bit darker in places than previous books. There are things that happen that are bit hard to read. Of course, there are the signature sappy moments that the author is known for also.

All in all, I really enjoyed this installment of the Demonic Tales and highly recommend it to fans of the series. If you haven’t read any of the previous books, I would recommend reading the series in order. I don’t think you need to read the Avanti Chronicles to enjoy this series, but it would give you additional back ground information.

Many questions answered

First a warning this book is part of a series. That involves events in a second series for maximum enjoyment I strongly recommend you read the Avanti and Demons series before reading this entry.

This book wraps up quite a few of the mysteries in both the Avanti and Demons series. As readers we finally get to meet the mysterious Rinauld, personally I felt the need for a shower after reading that chapter, we discover exactly what Agota has been doing, hint it involves Ari, and lastly we get to learn more about Dea.

Dea was introduced towards the end of Demons Don't Dance. Uri was introduced towards the end of Demons Don't Date and that is really the start of this story. We are introduced to a new Avanti team, which may be spun off in a new series or to cotinue the current one the author was not certain in her social media comments.

This book is Dea and Uri's story the book moves at a fast and furious pace finding a good stopping point is difficult so clear a block of time and read it all the way through!

Freak Me!!!

I don't know why I am surprised that everytime I read a new book by Hannah Walker I'm still amazed at her genius, her ablity as a writer or her uncanny ways to keep reader's always guessing. These traits are on full view in Demon's Don't Duel, and I can't begin to say how great of a book this is.

Not only are reader's treated to suspense, but you'll find yourself laughing out loud one moment, crying in the next, getting hot under the coller on the next page and wondering WHAT before you have a chance to cool down. You read these books, and you feel like you know the characters, you cheer for your favorites and find yourself planning revenge against their enemy's; but then you have to ruin it all when you remember your reading a BOOK!! But that's the genus that is Hannah. In hope everyone who haven't read this series will soon correct that error, and join me in the wonderful World's Of Hannah Walker's.

So much awesomeness!

Each of the books in the Demonic Tales & Avanti Chronicles just gets better and better. I loved how this book tied all of the events that have occurred thusfar into a complete whole, and opened up several new potential avenues for the future. I also loved that we learned more about the other Avanti groups and how they feel about the events of the Delphini.

Dea and Uri were so good for each other, and I loved that the needs of their crews and Kenistal overrode Dea's fears about working with Uri. Because of it, they were able to find their HEA and find out so much about what has been happening.

Alien m/m

3 stars

This book was action packed from beginning to end.

With traitors everywhere how can kenistal survive. Commander Dea is out exploring when he finds an alliance stow away with important life threatening information about kenistals newest little demon. On the way battle ensues and commander uri comes to their rescue. As the battles rage the teams must work together to weed out the traitors and assassin's. Love is in the air again for Dea and Uri but can they overcome all the obsticles?

Well written and well thought out but the romance really took a back seat.

I would read anymore books in this series.

I think this was my favorite of the series. There was just something about Dea and Uri that pulled me in and didn't let go. I love their background and who they became. The strong fighters, yet humble men are easy to love. The story is a wild ride with new and old enemies that leave you with gripping suspense and scenes that have you holding your breath. The new friends who come to help are fun and exciting to meet, and I hope we get to see more of them in the future. I love how everything seems to come together in this book. It's a must read. 5 stars from me!

Dea and Uri hate/love each other? Standing ovation for this book!

This story is outstanding if you like reading a romance with swashbuckling space demons, an adventure of saving a planet and saving billions of sentient beings in numerous galaxies, and falling in love with all the main characters that Hannah Walker has created (except for the bad guys)! The stories just keep getting better and this is the best yet! Make sure you read the previous 2 books in this series or you won’t be able to appreciate this story with all the characters fully.

Another piece to the puzzle

Hannah you always amaze me. This is another puzzle piece that keeps you coming back the way both series are wove so intricately together but separate is amazing. I am anxious to see where Evan and his story leads but most all puts us back with the Avanti and the puzzle. As a whole a must read. I would advise reading the books in order starting with the Avanti series. And the Demons in as you will know when. I'm anxious to see where you go and the rest of the ride. As always I love you and off to read dragons .....lol. Pics to come

Wow. First let me say that I really like this series. The romance was not in the forefront (which is a good thing). I loved catching up with Ari/Bo and Caris/Dasa and Vic't. Hoping Evan finds love! Can't wait for the next one.

Action packed 💖

Such a great addition to the Dmonic Tales/Avanti universe. It hit the ground running right from page one, it had enough action in the first 18% to do an action movie justice. I can't wait for the next book.

Amazing

Another amazing book to this series. I hope that it is not the end of the series, but if it is then it is a good ending. Maybe we can see Evan fall in love with a demon. That would be a great story.

Read all of the Avanti books, I love this author. However I have hard lines about certain triggers, especially without warnings in descriptions so readers can decide. DNF at 21%. Dubious consent, but most would say rape. "No" means no.
