Iggy saves everything -- from old mattresses to balls of string -- and his son, Ziggy, is embarrassed by what his schoolmates are saying about all this junk. His father has turned their yard into a pigsty! What Iggy creates out of all the bits and pieces is beyond what anyone would expect -- come and see! A happy, rhyming environmental tale by one of the world's favorite singers, Olivia Newton-John (with Brian Hurst), with endearing pictures by popular children's book illustrator Sal Murdocca is just what budding environmentalists (and their families) will enjoy.
Dame Olivia Newton-John, AO, OBE was an English-Australian singer, songwriter, actress, entrepreneur, and activist. She was a four-time Grammy award winner who had amassed five number-one and ten other top ten Billboard Hot 100 singles, and two number-one Billboard 200 solo albums.
A Pig Tale is great for children to learn about saving the environment. Children can explore their creative side listening to this book. This book also teches how people should not judge others just because they don't get them. In this book the grandpa is making a hot air balloon out of trash.
Learning Experience: In small groups children can explore making new things from old material. Teacher can put together tables with differnt object such as cereal boxes and see what the children make.
Little piggy is embarrassed that his Dad is a garbage collector, because the other kids make fun of him. But then the dad turns those odds and ends he'd been saving into an incredible flying balloon! The rhymes might be the corniest thing I've ever read. Leave it Olivia Newton-John to write something like this! It might be worth reading out loud for someone afraid to read to read in front of a large group. If you can do this one with pizazz, other books would be much easier.
"Protect our earth don't throw it away you to can make magic from garbage some day". Ziggy's dad Iggy collects so much junk he make a ball (like a hot air balloon) and they travel the world.
