When a young man with big dreams suddenly becomes an orphan, he is faced with big decisions. Holding to the dream of living in the Rocky Mountains that Tatum shared with his father, he begins his journey—a journey that takes him through the lands of the Osage and Kiowa and ultimately to the land of the Comanche. A solitary man by nature, he travels by night and sees a different land than the many pilgrims and settlers of the 1840's. Although driven by a desire to be away from people and their scheming ways, he is repeatedly drawn into the lives and problems of others. Although the ways of the woods are not new to him, he was a novice in his dealings with people, but his upbringing made him interject himself into the problems of others. The passing wagon train had more than its share of conflicts, but when Tatum spotted an impending attack by Comanche his conscience demanded he warn them. Then when that involvement includes a smallpox plague and a defenseless tribe of Comanche, Tatum is faced with a decision to try to free the captive white women or warn the warring Comanche. His journey to the mountains has become a journey to jeopardy.
Born and raised in Colorado into a family of ranchers and cowboys, B.N. Rundell is the youngest of seven sons. Juggling bull riding, skiing, and high school, graduation was a launching pad for a hitch in the Army Paratroopers. After the army, he finished his college education in Springfield, MO, and together with his wife and growing family, entered the ministry as a Baptist preacher. Together, B.N. and Dawn raised four girls that are now married and have made them proud grandparents. With many years as a successful pastor and educator, he retired from the ministry and followed in the footsteps of his entrepreneurial father and started a successful insurance agency, which is now in the hands of his trusted nephew. He has also been a successful audiobook narrator and has recorded many books for several award-winning authors. Now finally realizing his life-long dream, B.N. has turned his efforts to writing a variety of books, from children’s picture books and young adult adventure books, to the historical fiction and western genres which are his first love.
Somehow, I have a bad habit of reading a series of stories out of sequence, and that has just occurred once more. This series is comparable to many other great western stories, and the author does an excellent job with his extraordinary writing abilities of the old western experiences. I am definitely impressed with this series and after reading books one and three, I hope to catch up with Tate and his never ending adventures throughout the old western world of years gone by.
I definitely don't have a problem awarding five stars to this masterpiece, as this story is one of the most innovative heartwarming adventures I have ever had the opportunity to read. Never a dull moment throughout the entire book. Too, the storylines and characters proved themselves time and again, as to their assigned duties and responsibilities. Tate is definitely worthy of his designated role and the excitement never ceases throughout the entire process. I, most definitely, recommend this series to all of you seeking another exciting western series that is very family-friendly and the excitement never falters. One never knows what is going to happen next. Just hang in there as the next episode will be entirely different from the previous ones. Read this series and follow Tate throughout his extraordinary visionary tactics involving all kinds of fulfilling adventures!
Mr Rundell paints a beautiful story, drawing the reader in right a long side Tatum during his quest to reach God's Country, The Rocky Mountains.
Mr Rundell knows those Rockies and from him, my love of the Rocky Mountains was born on a camping trip with my family and the Rundell family when I was a little girl! It's so thrilling to read his books, especially this new series. Historical westerns are my favorite genre. BN Rundell is a gifted writer. I highly recommend this book!
Another exciting information filled with story of men and women in the 19th century frontier. Tate Saint sets out trying to avoid human contact after the murder of his father, his last living relative. Unable to quell his altruistic actions, he becomes involved with three of the major Indian nations. Captured white women from a wagon train further involve Tate as he sets his dreams aside to help. He becomes involved with a third Indian tribe and their battle against his mother’s killer, smallpox.
The methods in which this book series is written, puts us (the readers) in some of those same locations with the main characters of each series. When I read, I am there on location, and thus I enjoy the story better.
This is the second series I've engaged myself into, and am enjoying everything written by B.N. Rundell.
I also approve of the God fearing and beliefs of B.N.'s into his writings.
I recommend for each of you who reads this review to take up and read some B.N. Russell's series.
Wow! What a awesome read. The author makes you feel like you are there watching everything happen. You can just see the people in the book. This is gonna be another best seller. I sure hope there will be many more and more of the Buckskin Chronicles also. Thank you for a awesome read. Look forward to the next book.
Story flows smoothly through the book without any surprises as if there is no action in the story. Then all of a sudden the action explodes to return back to smooth life full of niceties and good deeds to explode again. I like Rundell writings and style...I recommend this book.
IReview of "Journey to Jeopardy: Rocky Mountain Saint Book 1" by John Lietzke
I thought the book was excellent. I rated the book with 5 stars. The book was Book 1 of a boxed set. I have read the boxed set regarding the Rocky Mountain Saint. The author, B. N. Rundell writes very good stories in my opinion.
A good simple story with more twists than a snake. It is a good Christian story of a young man's adventures in the west. It was predictable and simplistic but you have to like Tatum and his adventures. A nice quick read you will enjoy.
Enjoyed the story,it was fun reading and quite believable even? Though its about a younger person. I'll certainly be looking for more stories and writings from Mr. Rundell.
An opportunity to appreciate our forefathers through a Christian lense.
The events recorded here could have actually occurred and probably did in some form or another in our past. I gave the book 5 stars because the author's approach is excellent.
Tatum Saint at age 14 if left orphaned after his father if killed by a man he accused of cheating in a poker game. Tate heads for the Rocky Mountains and his adventures start. I think I'm going to enjoy this series.
I'm not new to the writings of this author, but I am never bored either! I love his style about the adventures of the Mountain Man Era. I anticipate many hours of enjoyment with this series!
Loved everything about this book.Im kind of a novice when it comes to reading westerns but this story really resonated with me.I love that the story begins with Tatum Saint as a young man venturing into the Rockies.Cant wait to see where the next book takes him.
I love this authors writing, the way he goes into discrimination is amazing! I've rode a lot of country a horseback and love feeling like you are mounted right beside young Tate!
Extremely well written. Beautifully describes the locale. Does a good job of growing his characters and keeps the story moving. Overall a very worthwhile read.
Very poorly written even for ebooks. Not the usual plethora of spelling and grammar, but, wrong names, almost exact repetitions. Overt SJW agenda. don't bother.
