Trudy Jensen has been caring for other people for over twenty years, their broken hearts, broken lives and broken relationships. Now she’s thinking about her own relationships, particularly with men. Should she try online dating? What if one of her counselling clients found her online?
Even as she stalls over these questions she meets an intriguing man. Does she recognize him? Is he only friendly and not really dangerous?
Is he who he claims to be?
Accompany Trudy as she wakes to a smiling face, cries on a reliable shoulder and discovers that God is real in her daily life.
HOLDING JESUS is the fifth book in the SEEING JESUS series.
As a small boy in Lincoln, Nebraska, I listened enrapt to my grandmother reading me children’s stories, such as The Little Engine That Could. I also recall the elementary school librarian who read us Winnie the Pooh, imitating all the voices. And I remember the first summer I was allowed to ride my bike to the library on my own.
Writing started for me in school. Teachers encouraged me to pursue what they perceived as a gift. For me, my imagination was a challenge as much as a gift. I found the real world so much less enthralling.
In my Christian high school, the English teacher supplied me with unassigned novels. I wrote the senior class play and served as editor of both the yearbook and the school newspaper.
At Houghton College, I majored in writing, including coursework in poetry and fiction. But I also majored in biblical studies and was persuaded to take my writing skills in a more “respectable” direction—academia and nonfiction writing. Remember that less enthralling real world?
When all my academic work led to no great employment breakthrough, I hopped from there onto that rapid conveyor known as the tech industry. Starting in the 1990s, I shaped a new career, eventually starting my own computer consulting firm.
During those years, I focused on raising two boys and cherished the role of doing the bedtime reading, including attempting all the voices in The Chronicles of Narnia series. I also composed a few stories from scratch for my attentive little audience, usually around a campfire.
I started writing again in 2006. Following a friend’s suggestion, I meditated on scripture by imaging myself present on a day when Jesus healed an entire multitude. That meditation turned into my first novel, And He Healed Them All. Closing the gap between the sparse descriptions in the Gospels and what must have been a rich miraculous experience enticed me.
A series of unusual events (ask me someday) prodded me to write my second novel, The Reign: Out of Tribulation. I began self-publishing with those first two books. My third novel, Seeing Jesus, expanded into a series when numerous readers begged me for more. As it turns out, that kind of begging is hard to resist.
In all, I have published fifteen books on Amazon, fourteen of them as installments in one of my series. I am constantly working to improve my skills and to better share my message with the reading public.
Anyone tracking my address could guess that I’ve had some setbacks in my life. But God has stayed the same, even as I evolve and have to start over again.
Now I am married and living in Vernon Hills, Illinois, attending a vibrant church and meeting new people. I work part-time on my computer consulting business, and I devote much of the rest of my time to writing and marketing my books, with my wife as my highly motivated marketing director.
I don't do counseling and intense relationships. This book is full of that. However, it stretched me well in a direction I need to look at. My recommendation is just as strong. This is an amazing book in an incredible series.
I have thoroughly enjoyed this series, yet this is the best one yet!!! On so many levels this story spoke to my heart and blessed my soul!!! Thank you, Jeffrey McClain Jones for stepping out and wrapping truth in stories that make it real, today, to me. I, Super, Highly, reccomend this series and particularly this story.
I've read all five through Holding Jesus, and have the sixth in my Kindle. These books are like fine wine, to be savored, not gulped. I'll hold off on number six because there are no more after that, but I will read it in a month or two--because I cannot resist. One must read these to understand how invigorating they are! To be sure, a Christian will comprehend and enjoy these more quickly than a non-Christian, but I believe these are so well-written and faithful to the Jesus of the Bible that a non-Christian might read one to investigate how enthusiastic Christians see Jesus and feel his presence. The stories are fiction (I think) but Jesus is faithfully rendered, and I can say, "He is like this."
I just reread book number five Holding Jesus and I knew I read it before but I really didn’t remember all of it because it’s been some time.but what I did find was that instead of wondering what was going to happen I was able to compare incidents in the book with my own life and I was able to see how Jesus was with me during difficult times and times that I did not wanting to live. ❤️
I cannot fathom my Lord kissing me on the lips or cuddling. Maybe the wrong words were used. I was confused by her seeing multiples of Jesus. To my understanding the Holy Spirit was left for us by Jesus when He returned to heaven, to strengthen and comfort us. But Jesus in human form is in heaven. It was a very different perspective on our Lord’s presence in our lives.
Jeffery McClain Jones gives beautiful gifts to those of us who long to walk more closely with Jesus in his "Seeing Jesus" series. This latest, Holding Jesus, can certainly be read on its own, but I'm thankful I read the others first because they allowed me to build my walk in slow steps. The way he lets us see Jesus in the everyday is something you will want to experience.
O have read all 5 books in the series in order. I do recommend that order. I think I should would be as shocked as any of the people in the books to see a real live Jesus, but the idea of listening for his voice is wonderful. I recommend this and the other books to anyone interested in a close walk with Jesus.
Trudy Jensen helps people with their problems. She wakes to a smiling face, cries on a reliable shoulder, and discovers that God is real in her daily life. Another book in this series that I really enjoyed. It draws me closer to Jesus.
This was an awesome book about Jesus becoming real to a woman who was a therapist. It changed her life for the good. This was a great book but not quite as good as the others in thus series. Good reading!
This is the fifth book from this author with the same idea of seeing Jesus, talking to Jesus, hugging Jesus and loving Jesus. Well all I can say is it seems so real! I feel silly being jealous of characters in these books but how could I not? I feel Jesus so much more and feel so special in just talking to him like my very best friend. Thank you so much Jeffrey McClain Jones for these beautiful love letters from our AWESOME JESUS!!!!!!
I'm so glad I found this series, as each book had helped me hear God better. This one didn't work out the way I expected, and I appreciate that, too. I've read the 1st five, one after the other, but feel the need for a break. I want to live with the new feelings for a while and be more aware of Jesus in my dqys, like the characters in the books.
All I can say is this series of books takes my breathe away, brings me to tears, and makes me laugh. Excellent job Jeffrey Jones keep this series alive I absolutely recommend this series to all my friends and family
