DoZ-OFF: Department of Zoning Oversight Fellowship Forum

Rate this book
All roads lead to Zoning… Every construction project in the city of Chicago, from tall building to small porch, from kitchen renovation to driveway curb-cut, must first be approved by the Department of Zoning and Land Use Planning. The Department of Zoning Oversight Fellowship Forum (or DOZ-OFF, as in the activity most commonly found while waiting for a Zoning review) hopes to bring awareness to the various bottlenecks in the city’s permitting process. DOZ-OFF wants to change the culture of acquiring permits from one of fools’ errands to one that functions as an effective organ of civic management. Please feel free to vent (and be specific!) all of the frustrations that this process has conjured in you. While they may try to wear down your resolve by putting you to sleep with early morning arrivals and long wait times, we must keep our minds awake and alert and demand for functional government. Time to clear the pipes, and bring logic back to government.
