Toni Kenyon lives in Auckland with her husband (and their dog and cat) the goldfish is just squatting! She writes romance by day, sings in a band by night and in her spare (yeah, right) time she wrangles difficult heroes into line, so they can star in her next novel. Toni also loves the garden and has a special place in her heart for her fruit trees and her veggie patch. A keen amateur photographer, Toni posts “Mood of the Suburbs” shots across most of her social media profiles. She loves to hear from like-minded people, so pop on over and say 'Hi' any time. Fate plays a part in our lives as it did for Rose and Todd that day in New York on the Brooklynn Bridge. It’s a story of age doesn’t matter and love for another person taking over your life when you least expect it. Todd was the drummer is a fast rising rock band who thought he would be the sworn bachelor amongst them. Rose has come to explore life away from New Zealand and was struggling at obtaining voice over jobs living in a shoebox apartment with her best friend from back home. She had no idea her bike had just crashed in to a famous rock star. This is a story of overcoming what people think of you and learning that age does not define love especially when that person has engrained their life with yours.
I received this book as an ARC for a freely given and honest review.
Todd is a drummer in a successful band touring the US. When in New York he meets Rose and the connection is instant. Only issue is she is over 10 years older than he is. Is it possible to get past the big age difference and have a HEA? I enjoyed this story told in dual POV as we find out what they are both feeling as they decide what matters most. Add in the guys of Style Strike and you have a story I really enjoyed!
Rose just moved from new Zealand til new York to start over. One day her bike hits a tourist a guy named Todd. But Todd is a drummer from a famous band and there is a lot of chemistry between the two of them. They share a couple of hot days together and everything is fantastic but Rose has second thoughts because of the age different. what is she going to do? A great rock star romance. I really enjoyed it. it was so hot and sweet. I loved it
Another wonderful book by Toni Kenyon! I have read about the boys in this band before, starting with the story of Jules and Mags. This can be read as a stand-alone, but reading about the characters from her previous stories made me realize how I had missed them, especially that moody Jules MacAvoy, although he seems to have relaxed a bit since time has passed. And I think it just makes this book more rich.
This is the story of Todd (Murph), the drummer and Rose James-Spencer and a literal crashing into each other on the Brooklyn Bridge. They are in New York for several days of performances and she and her friend had recently moved there from New Zealand....to live a little. The two have an age difference, which she has a problem with...he doesn't care and is very persistent.
They spend a few days together in New York and then Rose makes a tough decision. She misses New Zealand and longs to go home.
I missed the golden sand of the east coast beaches and the calming expanse of green paddocks dotted with white sheep. I wanted to hear the quiet chirp of crickets and cicadas instead of the incessant screaming sirens and car horns of downtown New York.
I love that this author lives down under and I happily googled images of all the places in New Zealand she mentioned.
I fell in love with Todd immediately and I liked Rose but she doubted herself so much, sometimes it frustrated me.
Did age really matter? I had to ask myself. Todd had tried to assure me that it didn't. But it might not matter to Todd, but the rest of the world?
Another winner story from Ms. Kenyon! I would love to see more stories from these characters and I'm not sure what she has planned for this series, but anything coming from her, I will definitely read!
There’s good news and bad news about Toni Kenyon’s Strike: A Style Strike Rockstar Romance. The good news is that if you missed book 1 of the series like I did then you can totally take this book 2 as a standalone. The bad news is that once you finish thus book you will really regret having missed book 1. Why? Because this perfectly great standalone is just that: perfectly great, which will inevitably make you want the other book. Rose and Todd’s story is beautifully told, working just as well as a fun rockstar romance as it does as an older woman / younger man (by 10 years: Rose, you rock!) story.
