I really enjoyed these two new characters, Javin and Claudia. Lots of action along with conspiracy and emotions. I can't wait to see what they get into next.

I received a free advance copy from the author for my honest review.

No spoilers! The Corrector was my first read, from Ethan Jones but I have to confess that I have a bunch of his books on my way too long Kindle TBR list, totally like his writing and will have to get caught up on all his series. Like that he kept it simple verse being more complex or detailed.

Like both of the main characters Javin Pierce and Claudia Aquarone, the two are Corrector Agents for the CIS, along with the support cast, that enables the two to go in and then correct mistakes made by the Canada Intelligence Service.

The two are supposed to steal back a flash drive in Istanbul, end up going into the dangerous territory of Syria, were they find trouble at ever turn, realize they've been sold out and you have to read it, to know the rest.

Totally enjoyed the Corrector, it's my favorite read of 2018 so far, really it's my style of good read, with it's fast pace, action packed, full of twist and turns, suspenseful and liked that it's really one storyline that just grows into an intertwining one.

Definitely will be reading more from Ethan Jones, if you haven't yet give him a try and he might end up your new favorite author.

It was pretty good but the story felt somewhat choreographed. It reads like a Mission Impossible. As the first story of a new series, I felt that the characters definitely need more development. They are just thrust into your face with past history that we are unaware of but which is a major factor in all of their relationships and their actions. The plot is clever, with the concept of a “cleaner” agency that goes behind black ops when things go wrong and cleans up messes. This is a very interesting idea, but I felt that this adventure was incomplete. As for the characters, Javin is definitely paranoid in a lot a ways. He has severe issues with trust and past betrayals. Claudia’s character is still somewhat of a puzzle, but by the end she was growing on me. We really don’t know anything about her except she had just recovered from serious injury and was just now ready to go back to work. The clandestine meeting at the end with the Russian seemed like the beginning of another book, not the end of this book. Overall I feel that this is the beginning of a pretty good series and do recommend it to readers. I just feel that the characters need to grow so that we feel more comfortable with their ideas and beliefs since these facts are a considerable part of the story. I definitely intend to read Book 2.

The Corrector (Javin Pierce #1) - a review by Rosemary Kenny

Don't get in a Corrector's way - he (or she) will make sure you're eliminated, as a problem to be disposed of without a second's thought - after all, that's what their job for Canada's government group, the CIS is for - as we learn in Ethan Jones's The Corrector.

Introducing super-spy Javin Pierce, Canada's answer to James Bond, in the series opener of the series of the same name. He promises to be even more fascinating, stirring, sexy and oh so fit, than Bond, Bourne or Ethan Hunt, as he and his female sidekick race across the globe, on a mission to recover a purloined USB, that could put many others' lives on the line, as well as their own.

Guaranteed to make you forget all about the Covid-19 nightmare, as your biggest worry will be whether you can un-dig your fingernails from the arms of your chair, where you've dug them in your excitement, before the intrepid duo can make it back to HQ with their impossible mission fully accomplished.

You should definitely get your copy of The Corrector, by the great Ethan Jones, as soon as possible...this review will self-destruct any time soon...oh, sorry no it won't, but don't wait anyway...go, get it NOW!

Explosive, electrifying, non-stop action which takes
off quickly keeping an invigorating pace up to and
including it’s dramatic conclusion. This keeps the
reader on the edge of the seat throughout the
entire book!!
The intriguing action and adventure is anything
but predictable especially in the world of espionage.
The Canadian Intelligence Secret Service sends us
along with well fleshed, well defined characters into
situations of devious planning, fear, betrayal and courage.
The Correctors are agents that carry out missions that
others have failed. They are able to get in, accomplish
their task then disappear without anyone ever realizing
they were there. Not an easy, safe job?
Javin Pierce and Claudia Aquarone are two CIS agents
whose mission is to retrieve a highly sensitive USB flash
drive. But they are not the only ones after this drive.
Once you start reading, you will want to read to the final
word.
A Highly Recommended Read!!!

The Corrector. Ethan Jones

Javin Pierce and his partner, Claudia work for the Canadian Intelligence Service. CIS. Their mission? A simple one, retrieve a hard drive. The encrypted information is extremely damaging, to many diplomats careers. Especially the British. All Hell is about to be unleashed. Whoever else wants the information is willing to kill for it. Betrayal, intrigue, explosive action. This is an action packed thriller to the last page! Enjoyed tremendously!

I read this story as part of the Starter Set. Both Javin and Claudia are coming off situations that kept them out of service. This story has Javin and Claudia being dispatched to Turkey to clean up a mess that an earlier team created. They are directed to recover a flash drive that was stolen from the Turkish Police. During their planned attempt, the MIT came to the police station and took the flash drive. Javin's team followed the MIT group and were able to recover the drive in addition to a member of the MIT team who had been wounded.

Many additional events occurred as Javin and Claudia tried to get the drive back to Canada. Their journey took them from Turkey to Syria and eventually Jordan where both Javin and Claudia were admitted to the hospital from injuries sustained in Syria.

To find out how this all ended in the final stage and who the other party was that was involved in trying to take the flash drive from them, then you must read this book. The ending is one that you will not expect and I recommend this series highly.

I recently re-read this book.

Here's my original review back in March 2018: Ethan Jones is one of my favorite authors. Never a dull moment in any of his books and The Corrector is no exception. This book is a little different in that Javin Pierce & Claudia Aquarone are called into action to fix, i.e., correct, earlier missions that have gone awry. As in Mr. Jones other books, you feel like you're right there in the middle of the action. Excellent character & plot development. This will be a great new series I'm sure. Try it; you'll like it!

After just re-reading The Corrector, I still give it 5 Stars. Plenty of action & you'll feel like you're part of it. Plots & sub-plots. Not sure what other readers were expecting when they gave the book just 1 or 2 Stars. This is (at the time) the first book in a new series by Ethan Jones but it certainly had the potential to turn into another great spy thriller series ... and it has in my opinion.

The Trouble with Correction - Two Wrongs might not make it Right.

Javin and Claudia are tasked with a simple job. Retrieve a flash drive from a police station in Istanbul. In and out, leave no trace. But things never seem to go as planned. The two find themselves targets, plunging deeper into dangerous territory. Who has betrayed them. Will they succeed? Will they survive?

Ethan Jones has a penchant for things that go wrong. His new Javin Pierce series begins with the same blockbuster action that Ethan is known for in his dramatic Justin Hall series. The new team certainly has skills but they will need a large portion of luck to overcome the danger and villains Mr. Jones throws at them. Even some of their allies can’t be trusted. And there seems to be a trail of bodies behind them wherever they go. Not exactly as clandestine as they would like.

Ethan Jones takes his reader right into the middle of covert ops. When other teams have missions that don't go properly, the Correctors are sent in to fix the mistakes and make things right. Javin and Claudia team up to recover a lost thumb drive that has everyone from MIT to MI6 scrambling to get their hands on it. For those that will be harmed, the recovery is no holds barred and has Javin with a target on his back from friendly fire. Not one to watch friends and co-workers killed and let a killer walk away, retaliation is Javin's only option but one that he cannot involve his organization or his partner. I received this as an ARC member for my honest review. Ethan Jones is bringing us a new series and one that I look forward to with the next mission to find missing Al-Qaeda leaders lost in a prisoner exchange that went wrong.

Great spy thriller. A Corrector is supposed to quietly fix clandestine ops that other operators foul up. Javin Pierce fixes things but not very quietly! Everything goes sideways — multiple times. Can’t a guy EVER catch a break?!

This is a fact paced, actioned packed book that keeps you on the edge of your seat!!
Javin Pierce is an agent of the CIS, Canadian Intelligence Service, who is a part of the Europe Division. He is what is called a corrector, someone that carries out a mission without anyone knowing he was there.
Javin is joined by Claudia Aquacone for a mission to retrieve a flash drive. As they try to get it, others are after it too and spoil thier plans. The mission has turns into more than what was planned.
Follow along as Ethan Jones keeps you guessing what is going to happen next! There are more ups and downs, twists and turns, than a rollercoaster! Just as you think you have things figured out, be prepared to have the rug pulled out from beneith you! Get ready for the ride of your life.
I highly recommend this book!

Ethan Jones again proves himself in The Corrector, the first novel in a new series. This is not just a fast moving run around the Mid East, but also an in depth study of the lives of operators via safe houses in Turkey and Syria. The lead characters, Canadians intelligence specialists Javin Pierce and Claudia Aquarone, are Correctors, fixing botched and failed operations. The storyline flows quickly, yet with a depth unusual in this genre, with the two Correctors, their team, hostages and enemies. I had read other Javin and Claudia books in this series, but had missed this first novel. Can readily assure other readers that the subsequent books in this series are equal in their intensity and excitement.

This is an action packed novel. Javin and his partner Claudia are sent to Istanbul, Turkey to recover a flash drive with sensitive information on it. They do get the flash drive, but have a traitor on their team. They get shot at and wounded along the way to get the flash drive into safe hands. They have to shoot their way out of danger many times.
Once you start reading you get drawn into the action and suspense.

Corruption with Allies

5*

The rating feels too low. Once again Ethan has proven to be able to mould a full storyline from several subplots which includes two betrayals, one from a contact in a volatile country , within a stone through dangerous and unstable region of the middle east. The other betrayal is in regards to the corruption within a friendly ally's government which is expertly written as though the author's knowledge is intimate without being overly complicated.

I have read all of Ethan Jones books. This is a new book in a new series. Ethan does not disappoint. I feel Ethan is one of the best writers I have read, and I read a lot of books. His books are fast paced, thrilling, secretive and much more. If you haven't read Ethan's books you need to start and this book would be a good place to start.

Extremely well written, great new series with well “fleshed-out” characters, and a story line that promises many more books in the series. The main characters are operatives in the Canadian CIS which is the equivalent of the US CIA. These operatives are send in to “correct” botched assignments and the main characters go wherever the trail leads them to complete the assignments.

The Corrector by Ethan Jones was an excellent spy novel. The hero, Javin Pierce, was a spy with a conscience and morals, most of the time. The plot was fast paced with unexpected twists and turns that that kept you on the edge of your seat and surprised you every time. I highly recommend this book.

The Corrector: A Javin Pierce Thriller is the first in a new series by Ethan Jones. I have read a number of his Justin Hall books and enjoyed them. This novel is fast-paced and action-packed. The title derives from the mission of Javin and his sidekick Claudia. Their job is to fix botched missions that have been conducted by other operatives of the Canadian Intelligence Service (CIS). In this case they are sent to Istanbul to retrieve a missing flash drive which contains sensitive information that could, if it becomes public, topple senior figures in an allied government. With the aid of some Turkish operatives they get their hands on the drive briefly but then lose it again as they are ambushed by a SWAT-like team whose identity is murky. With lots of bodies strewn in their wake they head into Syria in an attempt to retrieve the drive. Again mayhem awaits them. Jones's prose is clear and concise. If you liked his previous works or like the novels of Vince Flynn and Brad Thor you will enjoy this novel. If you have not read any of these, then give it a try anyway. You will enjoy it.

As the first book in a series they don’t come any better than The Corrector. For anyone that has read an Ethan Jones spy thriller before you get all you’d expect from this author. There’s covert ops, double dealing, double crosses, international settings, complex political situations and, of course, the absolutely first class action scenes. The story follows Javin Pierce, The Corrector of the title, who is sent in when things have gone wrong. Essentially he’s there to ‘correct’ any mistakes and to try to rescue a potentially lost situation. The story travels through several different countries offering Pierce and his colleagues various challenges but rest assured this guy is up to the task. This book is exactly what I’d hoped it would be, a fast paced action and espionage filled thrill ride that flies by. When I’ve enjoyed a book this much I can’t wait for the sequel. Luckily it’s already loaded on my Kindle.

The story is around Jarvin Pierce who is a CIS agent as is his partner Caudia Aquarone who are “correctors” for CIS agent (Canadian Intelligence agents) both having recently gone through issues and going back into the field as agents. Jarvin losing his wife recently and Claudia having her own issues.
The book starts in northwest of Tirana Albania with Jarvin looking down the barrel of a berretta. After successfully completing this mission this leads Jarvin, Claudia and his team being sent by Hugo Martin his boss who is the Director of Intelligence for Europe on a new mission. Also thrown into the mix is Mila Kuznetsov a Russian Foreign Intelligence an old friend and acquaintance of Jarvin.
The story is a fast action packed story that is centred mainly around a retrieved flash drive that everyone wants to get their hands on as it contains Intel so important that MI6 the British Intelligence service and a man called William fox will do anything to get it back. The flash drive is also encrypted and has a tracking device that only leads Jarvin and his team to trouble. Lots of car chases, double crosses and death to many on both sides.
It goes from Istanbul in Turkey to Damascus Syria, Derra in Syria from England to Canada and not all come home or survive. Who is good and who is not? You will find out at the end!
The end is brilliant and well thought through and the many twists and turns will keep you riveted to getting to the final result.
“A good read; NO a great read !”

Correctors are contractors who are called in when a previous assignment has gone haywire. Their job is similar to a U.S. Delta Force team who are assigned a mission to get in and get out without anyone knowing they were there.

In this first edition of a new series, corrector Javin Pierce reconnects with Claudia, another Canadian Intelligence Service (CIS) member. Their new assignment is to retrieve a USB flash drive that supposedly contained damaging information on a country friendly to Canada.

The story is tightly seamed together as the duo fights against a variety of international opponents who are also after the flash drive. After the two acquire the drive, it seems that they and their teammates just can’t get away from the other groups also wanting the drive and who are willing to kill them in order to do it.

It’s an excellent book.

The Corrector is a different take on the typical black ops story. Javin Pierce is the one who goes into the actions gone bad to rescue the objective. He has a history giving him baggage that seems to pop up in every action. Despite the difference in objective, this book has all the thrills and suspense found in a typical black ops story. The characters are somewhat shallow, but the adventure is far-reaching. Treachery and bureaucratic skullduggery keeps the suspense high and the frustration of the operatives palpable. Start reading early in the day because you won't be able to put the book down until the end.

An edge-of-the-seat action-packed thriller.

Fast paced action from Istanbul to Syria for the duo of correctors from the Canadian Intelligence Service, Javin and Claudia, who find themselves in the midst of gun battles and treachery as they try to retrieve a politically explosive flash drive.

Thoroughly enjoyed these new characters and series from the talented pen of Ethan Jones. I made a definite tactical error in opening this seconds after midnight when it appeared in my kindle library - impossible to close it and go to sleep once I'd started to read it, it's adrenaline laced from beginning to end.
I really should know better by now. Until next time.
