Upon A Moonswept Tide… Trapped in time…Ronan Garring is a man of action; a ship captain who has sailed the seas from Europe to the Caribbean…in the seventeenth century. When he is tricked by a sea nymph, he is sent to a deserted island in Poseidon’s realm to serve the gods for all time. On a mission to modern day Miami, he finds his earth home crawling with underworld evil and is waylaid by an enchanting human woman who seems to stall his attempts at completing his quest at every turn. He can’t be sure if she is an entirely innocent wrecking ball or the agent of a more sinister force. Against all his good intentions, he finds himself continually, albeit pleasantly, entangled with her both in this world and beyond. Searching…for a friend whose gone missing, Cindy Pierce left the Rocky Mountains for the beaches of Miami to try to make sense of, what looks to be, a hopeless case. As the trail grows cold, she stumbles into an intriguing dark stranger and is literally knocked flat. Fierce and intense as he is, towering over her and exuding old world masculinity, she can’t help her body’s immediate response to him. When she finds herself being chased across the southern tip of Miami and into the Florida Keys by the handsome foreigner however, she’s convinced he’s not only psychotic but intent on doing her harm. Once she finds herself in his arms again though, her attraction to him can’t be denied and neither can the fact that he may be the only one who can save her from the dark forces at work on the beach. This book contains some intimate scenes and adult situations. If such material offends you, please don't buy this book. Shane’s new Tides of Atlantis series and help them to discover their soul mates, the women who will win their lost hearts and help them fulfill their destiny!
Amanda is a Colorado native and fully admits to being a library dork growing up. To this day, she loves the smell of book paper on an almost fetish level (okay, maybe not, but that gives you a peek into the dark and twisted mind of this author). One of her first book romances came at the age of nine when, in a far back aisle, she found the story of King Arthur and was entranced by the blood purple canvas cover with gold leafing (she likes shiny things.) Since then, she’s been hooked on stories with magic, mythical beings, daring heroes and, of course, desperate romance. Today, all of the thumbnails on her e-reader sport book covers with chiseled jaws and “shiny” abs but the stories are no less magical, no matter what genre. She writes paranormal and fantasy romance from her home where she lives with her family and a Bassett hound who she routinely has to fight for the “soft” end of the couch to set up with her laptop. She likes chocolate, wine, coffee and kids, in no particular order.
This author is new to me and I am so happy that I found her! Elements of Greek Mythology mixed with regular people makes for an interesting paranormal romance read! The subplots are engaging well-crafted. The worldbuilding is a mix of the Ancient and modern world are rich and very well thought out-this alone deserves 5 stars. The dynamic between Ronan and Cindy left me rooting for them early on! Although there are quite a few plot threads to follow Amanda brings it all together while simultaneously setting up for the next installment! I thought this was very well executed. This was an easy 5 star for me, and I am looking forward to delving into book 2! Well done!
I was provided an ARC of Moontide from Miss Shane and this is my honest review.
This is my second read by Amanda Shane and I just love her style of writing. She has the ability to craft her words into a magical and enchanting story.
“Staring back at her were the little lightening bug fairies that she had just dreamed of.”
With Moontide, there were different subplots happening and every chapter left me wondering how it was all going to come together at the end.
And I wasn’t disappointed. Although I did find the first 25% of Moontide a bit slow, the last 25% of the book more than made up for it. I couldn’t read the pages fast enough with all of the plots merging as one.
And holy hotness between the sheets! You will not be let down with the sex scenes! Mucho caliente!
Moontide hasn’t even released yet and I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of Book 2 in the Tides of Atlantis, Crystal Tide
Overall I give Moontide 4.5 stars! If you love fantasy, romance and mythological tales then you need to read Moontide. Miss Shane will take you on a otherworldly journey with her wickedly weaved words!
This was a fun diversion from post holiday chores! The MC, Cindy, is a compelling character. She’s strong, even in the face of otherworldly creatures and an enticing stranger she’s drawn to with magnetic force. Ronan has his own troubles, one of which is his confusing and intense feelings for this beautiful woman he feels compelled to protect. They certainly sizzle when they’re together! The story is a little tricky to follow at times, but overall it weaves together nicely. A fascinating cast of characters . . . my personal favorites, the lightning bug fairies. If you like, fantasy and some ‘between the sheets’ action that may leave you reaching for a cold glass of water, you should add this to your reading list.
The synopsis for this book is comprehensive and you’ve likely already read it so let’s assume you have a good idea of the plot. I’ve always loved Greek Mythology so I had interest in this one from the start. I love that the Gods bounce between realms, immortals mix (repeatedly) with humans for some paranormal romantic (or just plain sex driven) ‘interminglings’. Ronan and Cindy are strangely compatible and subsequently their relationship believable. A good number of subplots (maybe a few too many) kept me from fully relaxing and settling into the story (and I was hovering at a four star review for a while whilst in the throes of reading it) but I forgave all that when eventually everything was drawn together in the setup for the next book. On the basis that this is very much cleverly priming the reader for future instalments I'll happily award five stars.
Book one of the Tides of Atlantis series has so much. Greek mythology? Check. Slow burn? Check. Steamy romance? Check. Book boyfriend? Check.
Cindy and her friend are in Miami searching for a friend who disappeared without a trace. The first night out trying to retrace her steps, magical things begin to happen. Cindy runs into Captain Ronan and the story takes off.
The story is a play at Greek mythology. Dark forces and beings from the otherworld have found portals and are teleporting from one world to the other. There is a battle for control of the other world and present day between the god Poseidon and Thelma. Each character is a pawn in their game.
It took me a bit in the beginning to follow because there was three different story lines at play. Once I caught on, the story line between Ronan and Cindy was incredible. Their strong attraction meaning so much more than either of them realized.
Cindy was a strong developed character. She was consistent in her words and actions throughout. Finding her way from innocent to a strong woman.
This was a 🌟🌟🌟1/2 star book for me. The Keeper storyline was a bit confusing. I didn't understand what happened to the friend they went in search for. There may be answers to my confusion in the next installment.
What’s not to love about a gorgeous sea captain, enchanting Atlantis, and an unsuspecting female who’s searching for her friend when she gets caught up in mystical forces?
I loved that this book started off with a flashback to ancient Atlantis. I was immediately hooked! From there it bounced to many POVs, which as a fantasy reader I absolutely LOVE. (Give me ALL the POVs!!) There was so much going on and I kept turning the pages to find out what would happen next.
It was funny, exciting, and had me swooning!
Sweet Cindy Pierce, who’s always been plagued with vivid dreams, meets dashing Captain Ronan Garring in Miami while searching for her missing friend, Kay, at a hot Miami nightclub. The look of this handsome stranger is enticing, otherworldly even, despite that he doesn’t act or talk like a modern-day man; something strange is going on here. Little does Cindy know that Ronan has until sunrise to get back to the Tides portal and his island, or he’ll die. But she soon sees there’s something unbelievable happening that she can neither explain nor understand. She will be literally swept away by romance, action… and a prophecy as old as time itself.
This was such a great beach read with tropical locales, conspiracy, romance, fantasy, and action. It had a Pirates of the Caribbean meets Men In Black meets Ghost Busters meets Clash of the Titans vibe. It literally had it all: sex, laughs, adventure, and enchantment.
I loved this book and would highly recommend to any and all lovers of fantasy romance! (I'm so glad I got the entire series in paperback :-D I'll be digging into book 2 very soon!)
Moontide was a refreshing experience. One, I love Greek mythology, I studied it in college. So, you know I was hooked from the first page.
I adore fully fleshed out female characters and this book has it in spades.
Clever, meaningful, and an adventure, Moontide is not the kind of book you speed through. This is a novel you savor and dive into. Each line was written with care and intention that it would be a crime to rush through
The combination of Greek mythology, a steamy affair, and a wonderful sense of humor make this a delightful read. Working out the various supblots created another level of intrigue and interest as well.
I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Tides of Atlantis is an exciting new series by author Amanda V. Shane. The series is set to follow the life and love of 10 lost kings of Atlantis, sons of Poseidon. The ancient world of gods collides with our modern landscape in a richly complex tale and reimagining of ancient Greek lore. The series’ premier installment tells the tale of Ronan Garring, a formidable and immortal ship captain from the 17th century and Cindy Pierce, a thoroughly modern woman on a mission in modern-day Miami.
Part paranormal romance, part urban fantasy, Moontide was an entertaining read. The plot is extraordinarily complex and considering Moontide is the first book of the series, loads of set up takes place. I would caution readers against getting too bogged down in the details, because before long the plot ‘clicks’ into place and details begin to make sense. The book is wildly imaginative with a mythological base, which I liked. The character development is effective and the Ronan-Cindy dynamic is well executed.
I’m very excited to see where this series leads. With abundant plot potential and several intriguing characters to explore, I’ll be looking for book two.
Loosely based on Greek mythology, Moontide is a love story for the ages wrapped in the mysterious pasts of its heroine and hero and the convoluted machinations of a world beyond either’s ability to fully comprehend until its dangers are upon them.
The generous helping of steamy scenes and the general tension and trials our duo endure are very well done. And while the multiple subplots and points of view were a bit hard to follow at first, it all comes together in an ending that is both satisfying yet perfectly set up for the next installment.
Moontide proved to be a great adventure and I'm very excited to see what Amanda V. Shane has planned for future books! I loved the dichotomy of Ronan's old world pirate persona and Cindy's modern woman personality. The romance was slow burn and sweet. Ronan is protective but not in the alpha domineering way. I will admit that I was at times confused between all of the characters and storylines/history happening, hence the 4 stars. I'm not sure why it didn't click for me until the very end but it just didn't. Shane's world and character building is strong and she lays a wonderful foundation for more Tides of Atlantis books. I already have book 2 on my kindle and book 3 pre-ordered. I can hardly wait to get swept away again in Shane's series!
A gripping and tantalising contemporary "mythology" filled with Greek Gods, demons and a sassy heroine who'll melt your heart. It is also a fairy tale romance where the princess gets to save her prince, not once but twice and that goes beyond modern feminism because he saves her too. True equality--I like that!
Ms Shane has written a very clever story of ancient myths and gods meeting today’s people and facing dangerous other worldly situations. There is romance, humor and mystery combined in an entertaining story that is a real page turner.
Flipping between Olympians in ancient Atlantis and "regular" people in the modern day, Moontide is full of fun magic, characters, and connection. My favorite part was the visual of the ship's crew coming out of the centuries and into the Miami bar ;-) Fun adventure romance!
