Devyn Morgan is a contemporary man with a love of contemporary romance! He grew up in several different states due to his parents' careers, which instilled in him a love of travel and seeing new places. After finishing college, he traveled around the globe for two years in search of romance, experiences, and adventures. In that time, he came up with more story ideas than he could ever use, so he started to write gay fiction.
He currently lives in the eastern US with his partner and a dog, but he still considers himself a free spirit.
Night Train by Devyn Morgan was not my favorite book by the author. The sentences were kind of stilted because of missing articles in front of words and filler words missing. I get that it is the new style of writing to remove as many filler words as possible but not to the point where I have to keep adding them as I read to make the sentences readable. I also had questions that weren't given a thorough enough answer. Like did or didn't Claude work for Steve. And the epilogue didn't help with that answer and are they dating now, or is Claude just moving in until he finds a job that he wants to stay at like they had talked about earlier. I did like their interaction on the train and later in Baltimore when Steve was looking for Claude. Overall, it needed to be fleshed out and polished just a little bit more to make it work for me. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
This was a really sweet story of two men, Claude and Steve, who meet on the night train going to Baltimore. Claude, a recent grad student has failed at his greatest desire to be in the circus an now is on his way for an interview for job in business, his second love. Steve is an ex-stunt man double and now has a very successful business. The two miss getting connections with each other when they disembark on the train. This is a short read that has some angst, has a solid storyline, but lacks good editing. Woworse in the beginning than in the end. However, the story is good enough to compensate for this lack and know that others will enjoy this story. I voluntarily read and reviewed this ARC book.
Wow.. A beautiful book with gorgeous descriptions of the Cyr wheel as Claude manoeuvres it around. The chemistry between both characters is smokin, as they both feel it. The acrobat and ex-stunt double are a great pairing for a story into a book. The factor of being black and other country origins is regardless cause they mesh together beautifully. Claude was traveling on the train feeling sore after training ached his tied muscles after failing a job interview. He worked up to being an acrobat for the circus and after 5 years, now the dream was over. Esteban or Steve rode the same train and by chance got to share a diner table together. Steve was an ex stunt double and now a was company owner.. left speechless at the sight of Claude he wanted to know him more.
Devon has written a book that makes you smile, causes you to cringe and ultimately bond with the two main characters, Steve and Claude. There is the confusion (centered on their names)...the way their first career choices aren't fulfilled...and the joy they bring each other. The racist encounter on the train was written really well and demonstrates how far we still have to go in this country. The ultimate choice, a great job or the one you're attracted you, solidifies their relationship and hints at an HEA ahead. Plus Baltimore is shown as a wonderful place to live!
This is the story of two men who meet on a train, and feel an immediate connection. They lose one another, and meet again in unusual circumstances. Both MCs are sweet and fall in love very quickly. I enjoyed the story, but felt that just I was really getting into it, it stopped! I must admit that I was a little disappointed, I would've liked to read more about their lives together. However, it is a sweet story, with a nice HEA, and helped while away an hour or so.
I received an arc from the author, in return for an honest review.
I knew this wasn't a long book but felt like I was just getting to know the characters. They have loud personalities that I enjoyed. I would recommend this book if you want a short read with hot interaction between MC's.
But fun to read. Two men on a night train who met once again after searching for each other in the city. Their love overcame all of their problems and a happily ever after is in store for them
