A fast-paced, sweet billionaire romance with a few twists and turns to keep you on the edge of your seat..Emily Williams is on a mission to change the face of the gaming industry. She doesn't have time for romance least of all with the new CEO of the worst offending gaming company. Conor Dunne is a man who needs no one. He's far too busy taking over failing businesses and turning them around to feel lonely. He enjoys all the trappings of his billionaire lifestyle, or at least he did until recently. Now his days and nights seem longer. He needs a new challenge. Butting heads with his new rival provides the excitement he is missing.
Sparks fly when they meet at a fundraiser. It's safe to say their lives and those of the people around them will never be the same again.
Emily is a female gamer in a men’s world. She wants to stop the violence and objectification of women in video games. Conor just bought the company that makes the kind of games Emily despises. They meet at her foundation event. He is everything opposite of what she has heard, and Emily is nothing like what Conor envisioned. Sparks fly and soon Conor learns why Emily keeps to herself. Lots of twists and turns with a little mystery of who is threatening Emily.
Billionaire Bodyguard starts off The Irish Billionaires series with an intriguing story of romance and danger… and the gaming industry. All of which are my “I’m gonna enjoy this” buttons since I am a gamer myself. You know the really nice thing about playing multiple player games like World of Warcraft online? No one knows how old you are unless you tell them… which means an older gamer like me can kick butt with the young’ens without a hitch in stride. *Grin* And in some ways that’s exactly what this story brings to light – no one knows how old… or how young another player is in some games, no matter the age level stamped on a box or blazoned above a sign up page. Of the thousands of games available online, for our phones, there really are some bad games out there that no one underage should be involved with. But that’s another soapbox, and part of the plot of Billionaire Bodyguard.
Emily is a game developer, head of her own company, head of a foundation, and a blogger who is ripping the cover off of the really bad, totally not necessary over the top violence and the treatment of women in the games produced by some companies in the gaming industry. Her stand has earned her some nasty comments on her blog, tons of trolls doing their annoying and disgusting thing… and some real threats slipping in there as well. She has her suspicions about the source, one sleazy gaming company and the man who just bought it. Emily is about to get the surprise of her life.
Conor has made himself, and those around him, very rich by doing what comes naturally to him – buying up drowning companies and either turning them around to be profitable or redesigning them and selling off the parts. He has a talent, a touch for this and usually he is right in the middle of it all, except for one set of companies he bought on the suggestion of someone close to him… without checking them out at all. What the heck does a non-gamer, a man who has never played a video game in his life know about running a gaming company? When his new company becomes the subject of Emily’s blog’s rants Conor is paying attention and it’s about time.
I firmly believe it’s going to be hard to find a more stubborn, bull-headed, blinded by their own sense of rightness couple than Emily and Conor. Oh, I loved them to pieces, but talk about holding on to a thought, even when it’s been proven different than what you believed. Their’s is a slow burn romance with issues and roadblocks galore. Each has had events in their pasts that have shaped them today – and each are wrong about part of what they believe to be truth. They are about to get some serious wake up calls. As the danger to Emily escalates, and Conor gets closer to a woman he’s come to admire their dynamic changes. There are always possibilities, you simply have to be willing to look for them. I completely enjoyed Billionaire Bodyguard by Jill Snow, a new-to-me author so much that I’m about to go download the next book in this series. I’d definitely recommend this story to Contemporary Romance readers who enjoy a good plot, twists and turns, a lively couple, a villain that isn’t always easy to figure out and some feisty secondary characters as well. I had fun and that’s the whole point.
I read this title through my Kindle Unlimited subscription.
Great story about Romance in the Gaming industry!!!
This is a very well written and entertaining sweet and clean Romance!!! I am not a gamer by any means, but I love the story and characters. I have three grown sons who are avid gamers and can relate to the issues with finding games that did not demean women for them. So parents and gamers with morals should read this book and support this author!!!
I loved the characters in this story. Emily is sweet and fierce. She’s strong yet willing to admit she needs protected. Connor is hard nosed and tough but Emily brings out his weaknesses. Together they fight evil and seemingly fight each other! There’s drama and suspense to keep you on the edge of your seat and turning pages. Great story!
I found this new series to be interesting. It took me awhile to like Emily she is a gamer developer that is out to get rid of bad games. However, she grows on you as she begins to get involved with Conor. Am looking forward to the next book.
You will instantly fall in love with the hero. If only we could hear him talk I'm sure we would swoon. This is a book with everything. I really appreciate the author's stance on video games.
I love these clean billionaire romances. It’s so refreshing to find a good romance with excellent chemistry that doesn’t go beyond appropriate boundaries. The story was well put together and I enjoyed the premise and all of the surprises that came along.
I enjoyed reading this story, due to the clean humor and romance. I am looking forward to reading more by this author. In fact, I downloaded the next two stories already. Enjoy.
Although somewhat interesting, I kept expecting a little more excitement that never came.
Even when Conor was shot by the intruder, it was okay, now what? As driven and intelligent Emily was, why did she keep taking Jude's lies as truth? Just ask Conor what's really going on.
I read hundreds of books a year. And I rarely comment on them. But I couldn’t put the book down. Great story development. Loved all the characters. Highly recommend.
Rachel Wesson is a new author for me but this book was so good I look forward to more books by her. If you like a feisty redhead and a Irish billionaire you’ll love this book as much as I did. Oh and I can’t forget a very outspoken nana.
Delightful and unique. I loved the sweet romance and the characters were lovable. It was refreshing to have a different setting of the gaming world and a billionaire without pretension.
This was a good story, but the title didn't fit it well, which was disappointing since I was looking for a bodyguard book and this wasn't one. The billionaire protected her, yes, but not as a bodyguard.
The video game developer / charity angle gave this billionaire story a fresh perspective.
The addition of the grandmother and her friends from the home were a welcome and fun addition to the book.
Jill Snow has a way of story telling that is so great ! This story has romantic , mystery and fun twists and turns. The unlikely pairing of two main characters that were fun to read . Characters were well developed . Look forward to more books by Jill Snow .
This is an excellent book by an excellent author. I stayed up late reading this book because I couldn't put it down. If you are looking for a good book to read, I highly recommend this one!
I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
