Elvis Presley: A Life from Beginning to End

Elvis Presley * * *Download for FREE on Kindle Unlimited + Free BONUS Inside!* * * Read On Your Computer, MAC, Smartphone, Kindle Reader, iPad, or Tablet. Elvis Presley was much more than a cultural icon; he was a reliable barometer of the world he grew up in. Long before the cultural revolutions of the ‘60s and ‘70s, Elvis was sparking a dynastic change of hands in American society. And by his own admission, much of it was by accident. Whenever his performances caused a stir, Elvis was always the first to ask what all the fuss was about. When questioned if he was trying to provoke a response from his audience, Elvis innocently replied that he was just doing what came naturally. Inside you will read about... ✓ Elvis and His Twin ✓ That’s All Right ✓ Presley’s Controversial Rise ✓ Elvis Joins the Army ✓ Comeback in Las Vegas ✓ Last Years and Death And much more! According to Elvis, as much as James Dean was a “rebel without a cause,” he was a rebel completely by accident. If we believe him, everything he did that led to his rise to stardom was just some sort of cosmic alignment of happenstance. Elvis claimed that when he went into Sun Records to record his first song, he wasn’t looking to become famous; he maintained that he just wanted to record a song for his mom’s birthday. This book will let you decide for yourself as you learn about the life, the legend, and the unmistakable icon—Elvis Presley.

Elvis Presley

This was a quick read about The King. For someone who wants a quick history of the king this a good beginner book.

Light and easy to read ! I learnt some interesting facts in this biography-for example that Elvis had a twin brother who died at birth and that he was a real ‘mummy’s boy’, totally overprotected by his mother despite his growing fame in the 1950s. A short but fun read about the King.

A very short book, 45 pages to be precise! Which gives a snapshot of Elvis Presley’s life, which is fine if you are looking for a quick read that gives an overview of the iconic star’s rise to stardom. Personally I was looking for a more in-depth read about the stars life.

Very sad

Seems like he started off great but then his life just became miserable and he thought drugs would make it better. Heartbreaking.

I am giving this book four stars because it is about par for the course with all of the other "Hourly Histories." The basics of Elvis's life is here but this book only scratched the surface of his life and didn't go into great detail. I was a big Elvis fan and I read a lot of the fan magazine articles in the day and so maybe I am simply more up on the details than the average reader. There was nothing in this book about Elvis's relationship with his daughter and the fact that she was there in the house the day he died. There is nothing written about how Elvis is still mourned and people still line up to tour Graceland. I was actually surprised and impressed that there are some details from when Elvis was in grade school that I had never heard before. I saw Elvis in concert at the Pontiac Silverdome in Pontiac Michigan on New Year's Eve 1975 and let me tell you - he still had the magic. Women gathered around the stage, screaming and hoping to grab on the many scarves that he gave away during his act - and during his act he "ripped his pants" which made the women go wild and was a standard planned part of his act. At midnight Elvis sang "Auld Lang Syne" and it was quite the nostalgic memory for me.

An HH. Historical Presentation of a Rock Star (EP) (ALFBTE ) (BORSB - 1)

HH. Has presented a biography of the Number 1 rock star during the fifties and sixties. The biography is very well presented because EP. was a great entertainer who was never allowed to prove how good an actor he could have become. His music was always spot on. I saw him do three concerts and was not disappointed at either one. He always had the women in his hand. The show I saw in Tampa was a classical example. As he wad singing "Love Me Tender" a pair of nylon panties flew onto the stage.
After finishing the song he walked over picked up the panties and said, "I do hope these came from your purse!" This is an excellent read for the genre ..... DEHS

Ok read.

I found this book by accident as something to read while travelling to and from Graceland.
Like many kindle books it was short and I found one or two mistakes.
Many fans like or dislike Pricilla...I’m not a fan of hers and in turn found it disappointing to see most quotes from her. I do not value her opinion of Elvis in any way.
However the book gave a brief guide to Elvis and in turn was worth reading if you’re a fan or a young person learning about Elvis. I have studied Elvis in depth and found myself saying things like “that wrong” and “No he didn’t”.
As I said though, as an Elvis fan it’s worth reading.

Well written

I have read a lot of biographies on Elvis, some with an agenda to degrade or defend Elvis. Some going into finite detail and others leaving you empty. Then there were some that told the story, they were refreshing and went you finished it was like you had a great feast.

Though this is a small book, the story was well done. You won’t get fat, but you will be satisfied. Oh, sure, you won’t know if he clips his toenails with fingernail clippers, but you’ll get to see the man. Some try to give you a whole turkey to eat while this book is like eating chocolate strawberry swirl.

A Classic Icon

Elvis Presley's rise to stardom had much mixed reactions, yet his pioneering impact on rock and roll is undeniable. His unique way on stage caught the attention and hearts of a whole generation. What I enjoyed in this biography was its highlights of key moments that impacted his music career such as the first guitar his dad bought him, his meeting with childhood friends, encounter with a Pastor, and more importantly, Colonel, beautifully connected the dots. His struggles with drug addiction and marriage raise lots issues to think about how people decline in their legacy years. I will give it a five star for such a good read.

Several of my girlfriends were Elvis Presley groupies, I can honestly say I was not. Though I did like his early music and much of his later songs, I never had any 45s to play in the late 50s and early 60s. I had a good friend at the time who was so crazy about him she had just about every piece of music you ever did, and while in high school a big poster of Elvis on her bedroom wall. Reading this abbreviated history of “The King” Brought back wonderful memories to me. I really enjoyed this recap of Elvis Presley’s life.

A Brief History of the King

Hourly History has done an admirable job of boiling down Elvis to its bare essentials. Now, I’ve read several Elvis biographies, so I knew most of it, but it’s brevity of the approach that makes it refreshing. Cramming anybody’s like into a hour-long read qualifies as a Procrustean exercise. Sure, HH could have dealt more with the infamous Colonel Parker. Nevertheless, this spartan version of the King of Rock’n Roll touches all the right bases. And it’s alright, mommy!

Tribute to the King!

There was much more to Elvis Presley than could be contained in this one-hour book, but it does give a pretty good synopsis of his life and relationships. I was disappointed that it didn’t touch on his strange food combinations but it covered most of his close relationships and the sensitive person he was. Elvis Presley was an American icon and loved by the Baby Boomer generation.

I do remember the day Elvis died.
I also remember asking my dad "Who is Elvis? and what's the big deal?"

So aged 8 I didn't know who he was. Fast forward 40 years, and yes I know who Elvis was, and know quite a few of his songs. But did I know his story? No I did not. Enter this 36 page book which brought me right up to speed.

A great primer before meeting an Elvis obsessed friend :)

I do love an Hourly History .. Good to have a few on your kindle as a filler read .. As I still remember where I was on 16th August 1977 when I heard of his death, I have read many books on the life of the Legend that is Elvis Presley. I didn't expect to learn anything new from this short, however, it is lovely insight into the life of a true inspiration of American Music Culture if you've not read anything about him before .. I have saved a few highlights as a reminder ..

Love this book !!!

I've always enjoyed Elvis' music and movies. Recently my daughter and son in law took me to Graceland and it was a lifelong wish of mine to be able to see where he lived. I never got to see him in concert but reading about all he accomplished means a lot to me. Very good read.

Everyone has heard of Elvis. This short bio at 45 pages gives quite a bit of information about the life of a man who was one of the first to popularize rock n’ roll and the rebellious spirit of it. Of course, there’s much more to his life, but this little book gives you the highlights. He was a legend and his contribution to music is enormous.

A good biography of Elvis. Some facts differ from other things I have read but most seem pretty accurate. He had such a great beginning in music and it's such a shame drugs came into his life and that he wasn't able to overcome his addictions. He was a great singer and I still enjoy his music and watching his movies.

Elvis "the Pelvis" Presley

Maybe be because I was just at Graceland this past summer and learned a great deal about Elvis and his life, I found this book to be a bit of a gloss over and sometimes inaccurate.

The King of Rock

This book was great in telling a quick read about Elvis life. Sad to say his life ended too soon. However, prescription drugs and other physical problems ended his life too soon.

it was okay

I guess I am surprised that the tale wasn’t in depth enough to flush out the influences around him. Little was said about his time in Hawaii. Good information I guess I wanted more.

Elvis Presley's Life from Beginning to End

I liked the concise biographical information given about Elvis Presley. I would have enjoyed it more if it had been a little longer & the author had gone deeper into Elvis' Christian upbringing & how it affected him.

concise

A short overview of the life of the King of Rock and Roll. Comes off as a little dry and lack of real connection but served as a serviceable introduction to those curious about Elvis.

Excellent book! Very condensed version that literally only takes about an hour to read. Touches on the most important parts of his life. Doesn't go into all the nonsense that a lot of the books do. I enjoyed it as I don't always have slot of time to read.
