Ali Hale is done being the sidekick. Especially since she's set on getting revenge and finding the vampire who used her blood to make a werewolf friend go feral. That vampire's brother just showed up in town. One problem: he's an upstanding, well-respected federal agent who works with her cousin. Worst of all, everybody likes him.
Agent Oliver Goya has ninety-nine problems and a revenge seeking witch who bakes the best scones in Angel's Peak is merely one of them. When excerpts of one of the most dangerous druid magic books in history suddenly appear, Oliver knows his brother Alex has gotten into even deeper trouble. Ali Hale is the only person who can help him, but she's not content to cooperate, she'd rather cause chaos.
Ali and Oliver clash at every turn, but ultimately both want the same thing: to find Alex. Except Ali will only be satisfied when Alex is dead.

She raised guide dogs for the blind, is dyslexic, and can shoot a gun or bow and miraculously never hit the target (which at some point becomes a statistical improbability). So happy we finally got an Ali book, and it was so good!!! I was hoping for more about Oliver and his past, and also more Kate and Ali talking/bonding over fighting evil but I still really loved this book!
I have been waiting to learn more about Ali and this book did not disappoint. Ali doesn’t quite fit in. She is a witch and a Druid but she prefers to bake her healing wards and help people. She joins her cousin’s wolf pack of misfits and finds her family. She has a sense of honor and agrees to help federal agent Goya find his brother. Thus starts her romance and adventure with the unlikely agent. The story is lots of fun. Can hardly wait for the next book.
Excellent book! Ali and Oliver have a few problems and the biggest one is Oliver's brother Alex. Alex drank blood from Ali and gained her powers through the blood. How long would they last is not sure but Ali wants revenge for it happening. Now let's add in a few other items such as an unusual book, some Druids, witches and let's mix well. Action, romance, some humor and lots of twists to this story. I expected the ending and look forward to the next book! I highly recommend this series!
Oh, how I love this series! And this turned out to be one of my favorites since it was a delight to find out how much back story has been hiding in Ali's witchy baking. I sincerely hope this is not the only Ali and Oliver story to come because i want as much of them now as I do Kate and Becker.
The book kept you engaged in the story line. The characters kept you looking for what was going to happen next and definitely had some interesting twists - like the female character going for the brother. That was a surprise!
