Writing is my bliss and I try to write every day. I started with two publishers who I learned a lot from. Now I self publish. I like the control it gives me over release dates and book covers.
Finn Langley came to America from Ireland. He came with a price on his head in Ireland. He traveled by ship and found his way from New York to Oregon with a Wagon Train. Maureen McDonald also fled Ireland in the hopes of a better life with the opportunity to send back money to help her family survive in Ireland. She was sold by the captain of her ship, into an indenture for 5 years. Escaping she too travels by Wagon Train to Oregon. Both of these people have harsh pasts, and secrets to keep for now. Both have claimed land in Oregon, and their claims happen to be butted against each others. Their relationship blooms despite Maureen's "husband" . They will survive many trials and many dangerous acts against them.. Will they come to love each other and reach their own HEA? This is the first book in a series taking you from the past to the present, with a multitude of fantastic Authors! The Langley Legacy: Beare and Forebeare You will love this book as much as I did.
Have you ever loved a book so much, especially the two main characters, you wanted to cry because you reached The End? I have a few, that made me feel this way and this is one of them. I wanted to yell, No...not yet. The book ended with a HEA and a satisfying ending, but I wasn't ready to let go yet. Kathleen Ball, this is the most wonderful hero you ever wrote. Finn, strong and determined to do what had to be done, but with a most gentle and loving heart. I loved him! I loved the heroine, can't stand a sniffing heroine and Maureen was anything but that. From the beginning to the end, I loved it. I just hope the rest of the series continues to sweep me away as this one has, leaving me happy and teary eyed. JudyE
Kathleen Ball usually writes some interesting western stories. Especially her Oregon Trails series. This was different, although it was a western, it was about Ireland their trials and tribulations in the 1800's. The storyline kept my interest because of all the mishaps. The characters developed nicely, and this is the first book in a series written by several authors.
Just love the whole story and the lead characters. This is another unique story of Ms. Ball. It gave me some knowledge of how life goes during the pioneering American days.. I love the strong spirit of Maureen and the smart but gentle character of Finn. The challenges in the story made me want to finish reading once I started. I would say, this is a well prepared story...
This was a nice book - a clean one, mind you, but packed a whole bunch of angst - which I absolutely loved. There were several incidents that instigated hurt - hahaha, I'm mean, I know. But the Hero and heroine were both really pleasant people, they just came from different family background hence they're not sure if they could trust each other thoroughly given their circumstances. Really liked this one.
Loved this story and the characters Maureen is strong and resilient she has been through so much and Finn has fought for irish freedom. How they meet and survive is a great story. It is full of so much of the history of the Irish and what they endured. I am looking forward to the reading the next book
Book 1 in a Langley Family history. Set in 1850 Oregon and the Irish plight. Maureen Mc Donald and Finn Langley each are hiding their past. Page turning plot and unexpected twists from a missing husband, missing treasure, fortune hunters, wolves, indentured servants, and more. A delightful start to the Langley Legacy series.
Can love surmount secrets and lies to start a family legacy?
Fantastic storyline and characters. The heroine snipes at the hero about most things. He meets all her barbs with patience and love. A great story of Irish immigrants staking their claim in America. This is a 5 star read and a real page turner.
This was a sweet read and very enjoyable with two very nice characters taking the lead roles. If you just want some enjoyable time out relaxing with a book then you will like this. It does lack excitement and tension but even if you prefer something edgier, sexier and more complex this still manages to be a nice read and it was free.
This was a very nice read by Kathleen Ball. She has away with words to make you not want to put the book down. This one is about two Irish people who come to America for different reasons. One to escape death the other to help her family out with the money she would earn. They meet in Oregon on the land they settled on. A very enjoyable read.
I have Finn's Fortune 5 stars because Kathleen Bell's plot kept me reading well past my bedtime. I just had to find out what would happen next! Looking forward to reading series and discovering new characters in this family.
I was not surprised that I loved this book so much. Like all of Ms. Ball’s stories, Finn’s Fortune was entertaining, enthralling, and endearing. And I loved Finn and Maureen. Great characters, they were.
I enjoyed the look back at Irish immigrants in Oregon. This book had suspense and I could and r stand the personalities of Finn and Maureen and what experiences had molded them. Good read.

Finn and Maureen both come from Ireland mostly for the same reason. The story takes you on a journey to where they meet. The love is ever present, both fresh and new. I loved the twists and they kept me eager to read on.
What a great beginning to a series. I'm off to read the next book in the series. I've never been disappointed with a book by Kathleen ball so I am excited to begin the next story.
Very cute it starts a series. He escapes Ireland and comes to America. He gets a homestead in OR only to find a lady has the plot right across the river. That is where it all begins, and it is a GoodRead!
As always Kathleen knocked it out of the park. Beautiful story of love and the challenges the pioneers had in their new nation. I look forward the the rest of the series.
I loved this story how Finn and Maureen over come so much. The two of them overcome their past and found a love that was so special. I can't wait to read the next book in this series.
Very good read. Well written and good example of the troubles the Irish faced as they fled Ireland. Looking forward to the rest of the series about the Langley family.
This is a very good book. Both people succeed with their dreams and love. The ending is wonderful. Can't wait to read the rest of the Langley Legacies.
This is the story of Finn and Maureen. It is a romance filled with fear, anticipation, longing, love and sharing. Kathleen Ball's writing skills really made the characters come alive. Great read!
