This volume adds so much to the plot!! We learned more about vanitas’s past and backstory, there got some amazing reveals, I LOVE THIS MANGA SO MUCH!

I enjoyed the book. I wasn't sure what was going to happen during this volume, but I was happy to learn more about Vanitas past and I can't believe all of the information that this volume supplied me with. The book left on a cliff hanger which makes me very excited to read the next volume and I had a funny feeling that that kind of cliff hanger would happen (based on other stories I've read), so it didn't surprise me, but it made me say, "I knew it!". I can't wait to see what happens next.

IK this was probably VERY obvious but Im glad that they showed that domi is confirmed to be bisexual and also, VANITAS COMING HOME THROUGH THE WINDOW ON NOE'S SIDE OF THE ROOM???? JRJFJRJRNR I love them so much. Also Jeanne finally getting to enjoy herself/ relax is cool even if it's with Vanitas

A roller coster of emotions and contradictions.
The part I liked the most is when Noè thinks:
“Maybe…the one who hopes to be saved…or desire it… it’s Vanitas himself…”🥹.

Vanitas and Noe make a surprising effective team against the chasseurs, considering that they can hardly stop bickering for five minutes at a time. But the real threat may be a renegade chasseur who once experimented on Vanitas, after his parents were killed by vampires*. Yes, our boy just has layers of trauma, evidently- who could have guessed! Also, the more we find out about Noe’s teacher/adoptive father, “the shapeless one”, the more sketchy he seems…though the highly trusting Noe doesn’t seem to have come to that conclusion yet. On a lighter note, Domi advises Jeanne how to use reverse psychology to get Vanitas to stop bothering her.

*His name is Dr. Moreau, naturally! And I’m not sure if the fact that Vanitas was experiment 69 is meant to be a joke, but…probably!

There were some weird moments. After the battle and getting out of the underground only romance was left. And the romance was weird. And a bit spicy. One scene she just licked his hand. That was weird. Not really a fan of romance so that was a lose for me. Hope next volume doesn't focus about it that much.

This one has tons of plot/character development. Some of it went on a little long (this is like a 3.5 read for me). Noe and Vanitas survive the catacombs and even befriend one of the men stalking them (Roland). We learn a great deal about Vanitas's past and it hints at more. We learn that someone has betrayed them and worse (but I don't want to spoil them).

Jeanne and Vanitas's paths cross again with interesting results.

The art is lovely. And it's hard to hate on vampires in historical (if fantasy based) Paris. I'm curious to see more.

Feels like the story is quite subpar so far, even tho we did get more background info in volume 3 and 4, but I keep coming back for the artwork lol

One of my goals for 2020 was to catch up with this series and I’m killing it so far, but if it keeps being so-so once I am caught up with chapter 40 I will just momentarily drop it and come back to it later on once it’s closer or close to being finished.

Finalmente tenemos info sobre el pasado de Vanitas, lo que hace que quiera saber aun más aunque el arco termine sin más. Luego de eso tenemos la cita con Jeanne que a simple vista parece fanservice y quizás un poco de relleno aunque sueltan datos que servirán a futuro y es que ese par de capítulos dedicados a la "parejita" tienen un porque bastante IMPORTANTE que veremos en el siguiente volumen.

Ay, ya quiero saber todo por favooooor.
Vanitas me parece un personaje tan interesante, a pesar de que en este tomo muestran cosas de su pasado siento que hay mucho más y que bien avanzada la historia podremos comprender realmente al personaje.
Quedé mal con cierto suceso que no puedo olvidar, mucho peso para el futuro.
