Jake is still reeling from discovering that Lexi is Artemis, but honestly, Lexi still is too. He may have ended their relationship, but it's obvious that he still loves her. Lexi may have her identity and her powers back, but with her memories still locked away, she has no idea who she is, what sort of person she was.
Apollo is thrilled to have his sister back, but is disappointed that she can't remember him. He's determined to help Lexi get her memories back by bringing her to Artemis's home.
It's more important than ever that the group track down the missing pieces of Zeus's lightning bolt to bring him back out of the wires for he can only sustain himself in there for so long before he dissipates. It is believed that Poseidon has one of the forks, along with Hestia's, they're only missing one piece. Without Zeus, the shadow shapers can't be stopped, for there is a traitor amongst the pantheon, but nobody knows who.
This is a wild ride of an ending to the series. The action just doesn't stop! Between dodging shadow shapers, hunting down the missing parts of the lightning bolt and trying to recover her memories, Lexi is always on the move.
All I remembered going into this book was the very ending, and I mean the epilogue. I'd forgotten who the traitor was, where Zeus's bolt was, everything! Was fantastic watching it all unfold again.
This is definitely a great fantasy read. It seemed to steer away from the classics (specifically what you normally find on Kindle unlimited) in terms of the plot, especially the love element which is always welcome and so refreshing! Although I didn't form a deep connection with the characters like I do with some books (maybe because this is a short read), I loved them nonetheless. Syl's banter was amazing, and spot on for someone who's half cat.
Was a great ending to a great series, the characters got what they deserved. I'm glad I came back for a re-read.
