Ruby has come to terms with her fire fetish as a fire inspector and a part-time bartender at the fetish club Purgatory. As part of the staff she can experiment with her desires without worrying about going too far or too deep into a scene she is certain she doesn't belong in. But there's one Dom in town who makes her burn for things she wishes she didn't and his ability to take control of those around him goes against what she needs.
Zane made sure he was on the roster at Purgatory for charity night with the assurance that Ruby would be on duty. He's respected her wishes as long as he could but tonight while his fire burns bright he'll take possession of the willful beauty who has captured his heart.

Latest Release: THE HEART OF THE DRAGON Coming next: THE FATE OF THE DRAGON
Club Purgatory is said to be a club for every fetish… and includes Fire. As a avid reader on BDSM books, I have read and reviewed many BDSM books, but this was the first time I’ve read a book on Fire play. I was intrigued. I.HAD.TO.READ.THIS.BOOK!!!
As with the rest of the books in this novella series, Burned was a short, sweet and Smoking HOT!!
Ruby is fire inspector and a very independent woman who refuses to submit to any man. She is also keeping a secret, she has a fire fetish.
The story begins with Ruby learning that Zane will be preforming at Purgatory that night, where she works as a part time bartender. Zane is a Dom, master of Fire. We learn that Ruby and Zane have a volatile past, when Ruby freaks out after she hears Zane will be performing. She wants nothing to do with him, but as the flames are lite, Ruby becomes mesmerized by the fire and can’t help herself from being drawn to the stage to get a closer look. Zane recognizes and shares Ruby’s passion for fire and has decided that tonight he will make Ruby his.
*deep sigh* I thought the last book was my favorite, OMG I was so wrong! I totally fell in love with these two characters. And I never thought of fire as being erotic. I stand corrected.
For as short as this book was, I finished it feeling satisfied. Ms. Gayle packed a lot into this short novella.
If you have never read a BDSM book on fire, I HIGHLY recommend Burned, by Eliza Gayle
I have heard about Fire Play before in the BDSM world but I never thought of it so sensually and erotic before. Eliza Gayle does a great job of exposing the intense sexuality that different forms of fetishes can have to a person. This book was HOT!! (pardon my pun)
Remember that's HOT Don't Touch! But out of curiosity you can't resist touching the item and Ouch! the results are painful. Did you learn anything? Curiosity killed the cat and satisfaction brought him back. Burned by Eliza Gayle, an awesome author of all things erotic and thrilling. Ms. Gayle has the ability to stimulate and rock a dull afternoon or evening into one that can provide sexual healing. Burned is one sizzling book and appropriately named placed in the erotic romance BDSM genre.
Burned creatively penned by Eliza Gayle is a fun read that all partners would like of their significant other to read before dinner because this book ignites all the sensory receptors and will push them to overload. Wouldn't be a shame to waste such powerful aphrodisiac?
As you might guess I enjoyed Burned; it turned my backside on a five alarm blaze while relaxing on my chaise lounge and I envied Ruby.
Ruby is Ms. Gayle's leading lady. Ruby is an attractive young woman, hard working trying to make ends meet like most Americans. Ruby is a former firefighter and works part-time as a bartender. Due to few incidents on her dream job as a firefighter a major change was required. Ruby works in the well known bar/club called Purgatory that has a special customer base. Purgatory has large private party rooms along with a stage for live entertainment. Ruby is scheduled to work one night that she clearly stated she did not want to work; but as a loyal, reliable employee and friend she would never leave the club owner, Gabe in a lurch on one the club's busiest nights. Ruby bites her lip, pulls up her big girl panties and works her shift.
Ms. Gayle pushes you up close personal to the inescapable blaze that occurs on this particular night. The mesmerizing sway of multi-colored element dances across the stage and you along with the club's audience is drawn to it like a moth to a flame. No escaping the power of the heat and flame. Ms. Gayle's source of this heat is her leading man Zane. He is the source of all things scorching hot and dangerously addictive just like the fire he uses to entertains the audience. Zane's performance is totally breathtaking, awesome and provides the crowd the sensations they crave.
Good Lawd, Zane is a god, perfectly defined hard body with ripping muscles and the sexiest body art that smoothly travels from his bulging biceps to just below the his waist and ignites the fire before he lights the first torch. Zane has me squirming in my seat. Zane pecks are chiseled and they jumps with the melody of the music played by the DJ. Displaying his delicious physique you know the other half of his body is just as perfectly balanced however, he has those goodies locked down in a pair just resting on the hip hugging buttery soft like skin black leather jeans. Looking up at this Adonis makes women all over weak in the knees and out of control and all he has done is walk onto the stage. Ump, Zane also sports a sexy bald head that you can't wait to touch and hold close to your breasts to as he performs all kinds of mind-blowing acts before you. Zane is dangerous and he plays with fire making your heart beat triple time.
Ms. Gayle's portrayal of the atmosphere of the club and the sounds of glass clicking, loud roaring cheers from the predominately female audience makes it deafening as to read each sentence. Any smart guy would be seating right there with his mate to later profit from the benefits of the combustable titillation that engulfs the room.
Ms. Gayle's secondary characters are handsome well-built gentlemen who devoted and protective of Ruby. Their roles play an important part that adds sensitivity to the story. Ruby is rescued on that evening while taking a break observing the fire play in Zane's performance and it appears to go into in distress, losing control and experiencing difficulty being coherent. She is quickly swept up and taken to a much cooler, safe haven about a block or two from Purgatory with Gabe as the driver of the speeding SUV. Thank goodness for true loving friends. Ruby's rescue leads to the manifestation of a few haunting secrets that impact Ruby, Zane and Gabe.
I was totally consumed by the eroticism, the personalities of the characters and the resolution of the plot of Burned. Burned provide me with with a fabulous escape from a dull, cold afternoon but also with a very subtle message about hiding past haunting experiences from those you care deeply about or love. These secrets can/will cripple the quality of life we live.
Loved this short novel, burn was very interesting. I've not read much about fire in the BDSM world and this book examines its draw for some. Ruby is captivated by it, and Zane wields it like a pro. Very hot lol
Ruby has always had this fetish for heat and fire, going so far as to become a volunteer fire fighter until she found herself in the middle of a fire and just standing there staring at it's beauty. So at the suggestion of a counselor, she became a fire investigator instead.
When Ruby first met Zane, by chance, during one of his fire demonstrations, she found herself instantly drawn to him and not just because of the fire! Despite the intense attraction she felt for him, Ruby learned Zane was a Dom and she refused to be his submissive ... or anyone's submissive for that matter. But Zane has never felt so strongly for any woman the way he feels for Ruby. He knows that she is his. He just needs to find out what she's so afraid of.
I found this story very enjoyable, particularly the fire play. I don't know anything about BDSM other than what I've read in books but fire play was certainly something new for me as a reader and I found I loved it. But it wasn't just the play or the sex or the dominance of Zane that I liked, it was also the story behind why Ruby is so against the whole dom/sub situation.
Regarding the writing and perhaps the Kindle formatting, I did find some issues but they were minor.
I look forward to reading more from Eliza Gayle!
NOTE: I received a copy of Burned from the author for a giveaway win at a book review blog.
Fire can bring pain or pleasure. With the right person, it can be a sexual tool not unlike a whip or cuff. Enter the world of fire play and watch your passion burn! Ruby grew up in a family where her mother was a submissive slave to her father. This warped Ruby’s idea of Dom/Sub relations. She is against being a submissive because she worries that she will turn into a slave like her mother. But Ruby is definitely a submissive and longs for fire play. Zane Michaels has always been in love with fire. He is a natural with fire play and has fallen in love with Ruby because of her desire for fire. He noticed another person who could understand his own need for fire play. The cover of Burned is smoking hot! It alone is enough to make you want to explore the world of Purgatory, the BDSM bar where people go to experience their deepest desires. The characters come alive! I was so interested in learning along with Ruby about the differences in submissive play and how fire can be used for pleasure. Burned is a sexy read that thrills that will entice the reader with its passion and sexy scenes. If you are looking for a fun and fabulous read, you should read Burned. It will light your passion!
Ruby has been obsessed with fire and she's drawn to submission but she's in big denial about that even when watching Zane the Dom playing with fire. This seems like a pretty normal story set up but this story adds a few elements that make it unique. Ruby comes from a lifestyle family and she knows she's not like her mom so she's having a hard time realizing that she can be submissive but on a totally different level. Also, her fascination with fire had led her to change from firefighter to investigator for her own safety. It is interesting to watch her battle with herself to figure out what she needs and that its okay to want it.
I have read quite a few BDSM books but none with Fire play. It was a "Hot" change of pace that's for sure. It's such a short read but the author did well with it and nothing was rushed or left out- it seems a good book always leaves you wanting more and this book did that but I was still satisfied with the ending! Actually this is the 4th book in the series. I have not read any of the other books to know if they touch on past characters.
I know this book is currently being reworked--though I am not sure which aspects are being changed. I am not sure what I didn't like about this book....maybe it was that it was too short? Maybe it was the heroine's fascination with fire that I didn't relate to, it just wasn't my cuppa...I might read the new version in order to see the changes.
I love Eliza Gayle's books! I read Roped first, which led me to Burned... Gayle's stories are always solid, and the simmer index is BOILING. The cover alone should make one want to find out what's inside.
My only whine is that I wish there was more story!
I'll definitely ferret out more Eliza Gayle books.
Essentially, fetishes are what they are, and those who have them finally get to the point where they acknowledge them. So it is with this heroine who is a fire inspector occupationally, and a participant in "edge play" in her darker personal moments. It is a continuation of a series about a kink club called Purgatory, and about the Dom that was able to give this woman what she seemed to need.
Eliza Gayle is one of my favorite BDSM writers. I love her work. She draws you in and makes you feel things that the heroine feels. I love how she spins the tale and sucks you in. This was definitely a new one for me. I've never read a BDSM with fireplay and after this, I will definitely be reading more. She gave all new meaning for me to say this book was HOTTT!
This story is short and very well done. It features a Dom whose speciality is fire play - an edge play that I've never read about before. The heroine, a reluctant sub, has an obsession with fire. Ms. Gayle made the fire play sound so amazing, so sexy, so hot. In the end, this is also a nice love story.
This was my favorite of the series. There was some character development and the fire play theme of the story was unique but it was still too short. Zane was my favorite of all the hero's in this series. Now I want to read Gabe's story.
WHEW! That sure was HOT...not pun intended! I, myself, can't imagine fire-play - the idea alone scares the crap out of me! This story was like tinder - sparked quick, fast and intense....my only complaint is that it was just far too short - I WANT MORE! I'm greedy like that!
Out of all the novellas so fair this one was my favorite. It seemed easy to swallow that the relationship between Zane and Ruby could work. They are kindred spirits and it works. It is a quick short read but great.
The heat in this book is so intense I couldn't put it down. To find that one person you would be willing to give yourself completely over to; simply because they care enough to understand your needs and desires.
The coming together of two souls burned in flame. This was one of the best. I would have liked to have seen this story go a little deeper, but Zane is a character that won't soon been leaving me.
Great story but it ended way too soon. I can't say I was all impressed with that. However I love the fine line of balance the author described in the novel.
This was a really interesting read. I really enjoyed learning about fire play. The characters were interesting and entertaining. I thought the fire play element was interesting.
I liked this one. I was able to connect to the characters and their story. A good quick read. It certainly does not deserve the very average rating it has here.
