I’ve always believed in happily ever after, until he walked out on me without a word and left behind a lifelong memory in his place. Writing a humorous and fictional account of our time together helped me cope and captured a bigger audience than I could ever imagine.
When that book brings my muse right back into my life, keeping my distance is useless.
The chemistry is far too hard to ignore.
I made a vow to protect and serve my community. Becoming a cover model was never part of my plan, but one viral photo in the middle of a hurricane changes all of that. And brings her back into my life.
She thinks she can push me away, but I don’t give up that easy.
But there’s a secret between us.
When he finds out the truth will things be too hot for this cop? Only time will tell.
Aubree Valentine began her book world career back in 2016 as a virtual assistant for a friend/fellow author and as a book blogger. But, she began writing stories long before that.
After carefully learning the ins and outs of the Indie book business, Aubree finally decided to give publishing a try for herself - with a whole lot of encouragement from the friends and mentors she met along the way.
Her first book, Take Back My Heart, was released in the fall of 2016, with its follow-up - Come Back to Me launching a year later. They were quickly followed by her breakout novel, Hot Cop, part of the Too Hot to Handle Series.
Aubree has a degree in sarcasm and resides in Pennsylvania with her husband, two children and several furbabies. She enjoys reading, chasing after her twins (or trying to keep them out of trouble), cuddling with her husband, and coming up with new project ideas that often involve power tools. Oh my goodness!!! Hot Cop is an awesome read! All the characters are great, and it’s fun and entertaining. The chemistry between Rhys and KJ is off the charts. I can’t wait to read more in Book 2!
Hot Cop is exactly what it says on the tin or cover in this case. It’s HOT!
It has a fast paced storyline but didn’t feel rushed. The way the writer has written it, in first person feels intimate and like you are connected to the story. The chemistry between the main couple Rhys and Kelsey (KJ) is very up and down and filled with palpable tension. Watching them try and work at a relationship, one that is filled with deception and distrust is very entertaining.
I’m going to admit that Rhys actually irritated me at the beginning of the book, I don’t know why, there isn’t one specific part that stands out but I just felt disconnected to him. However, after a third of the way through, he’d started to worm his way inside me and by the end I just wanted to hug him. I’ve got to be honest though and say I’m more intrigued by his best friend and fellow hot cop Smitty. There’s a fabulous story there between him and Kelsey’s best friend Zoey.
Anyway back to Rhys and Kelsey’s story. Kelsey for me I took to quite well and anyone that knows me knows that the female leads usually get the thumbs down from me. Kelsey was real and relatable in the fact that on the outside she acted and gave off this confident persona but underneath had this vulnerable quality that I found endearing. I think a lot of women would relate to her.
There’s actually a bad side to this book though and I find myself thoroughly frustrated with the author. This book ends on a cliffhanger and I’m mad because I got so engrossed with the story I didn’t see it coming. So for me this author is pretty much an evil genius, she’s managed to entice me by dangling that carrot in front of me, then taken it all away so that I’m left wanting more. It’s a clever ruse. One that has me panting to know what happens next. Well done.
Absolutely loved this book, i totally fell in love with the characters, Rhys is absolutely delicious, and i loved the banter between him and KJ!! I literally inhaled this book and didn't stop reading or put my kindle down until I finished the book, can't wait for the sequel ♥️♥️
This book was inspired by the #HotCop craze that went viral on social media and in it there are lots of LMAO moments .. I don't want to spoil it for anyone, so all I'll say is #revengewithhandcuffs 👮🚔🚓 with a #bookworld setting! 📚📖📚
When Aubree first told me about what she was planning with this book, I couldn't get my hands on it fast enough.
Hot Cop is everything I could want and then some when it comes to steamy, spicy reads. I devoured this book and wanted more when it was all said and done. Rhys Mitchell (mine) is as funny and sexy as his cover model counterpart. I fell instantly for him and was rooting for him the entire time.
KJ is a sassy, fierce, and loving author who gets caught up in the whirlwind that is this handsome man. I loved how strong she was throughout the entire novel, and she never faltered from that. Any book that has a strong heroine is a plus in my book! (No pun intended)
If you're looking for an extraordinary read, one that will leave you wanting more, then pick this up because I can guarantee you won't regret it.
From the author who brought you the Come Back To Me Series, comes a romantic comedy about the hot cop with the good hair and a sassy brunette who isn't impressed with his fame.
He's has had one goal his entire life: to protect and serve the community he loves. But when a photo of Rhys and his colleagues goes viral, he finds himself faced with opportunities he never anticipated before. From book covers to modeling gigs, and even a few tv appearances, Rhys quickly becomes the object of female attention. Women every where are offering themselves up for a good time.
There's just one problem. There's only one woman's attention he's after.
KJ is a best selling author who finds herself in a very compromising position with one of Tallahassee's finest police officers. His abrupt exit after a weekend fling, has her convinced she's seen the last of Rhys. Until one surprise leads to another, and his photo is plastered all over social media.
When he becomes the featured model at her next signing event, KJ finds herself tangled in more than just the sheets.
After all, Rhys Mitchell is so much more than just one Hot Cop.
‘Hot Cop’ by Aubree Valentine is a not-too-long story that will make your heart swell of cuteness and hotness.
The characters are funny and lovely but sometime they will leave you saying “WTF just happened???”
The fact that the story was inspired by the real ‘Hot Cop’ viral thing and Daniel Rengering makes it even more real and it will be easy to forget that this isn’t just a story that has no correlation whatsoever with the real life. And the ending though!!!!
I recommend this sweet story to anyone who wants to forget about real-life problem and drown in a all to sweet funny.
I love that not only was this book inspired by the "hot cops" of Gainsville, FL, but that Daniel Rengering is the cover model. Perfection!
Author KJ had a sexy weekend with Tallahassee cop Rhys a year ago when he was working security at an author signing event. A major miscommunication led them to both think that they were given the brush-off. He hasn't been able to get KJ off of his mind, and Rhys left a major impact on her life. A year later, cross paths again at the same author event -- but now, Rhys has gained nationwide fame thanks to a "hot cop" photo that went viral and has landed some book covers. KJ is there promoting her newest book, "Hot Cop... Or Not," which she kinda based on their weekend fling.
The two reconnect, but it is a big tangled mess that they have to work out. The chemistry between KJ and Rhys is sizzling, but there are plenty of heartwarming and sweet moments as they try to work out the issues between them.
I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.
OH HOLY MOLY IS THIS BOOK SOOOOO SOOOOOO GOOOOOOD! I DEVOURED Hot Cop because well, the title said Hot Cop and I was immediately interested. But I still wasn't expecting to love it as much as I did. It was funny, cute, charming, sweet, and just plain ole' delectable. I laughed out loud, I smiled A LOT and I definitely fanned myself as I read. This book was BEAUTIFULLY written with really LIKABLE characters and a excellent plot that I liked a whole lot.
Hot Cop was super fun. I loved Rhys and KJ. These two had a lot of hot, crackling chemistry that I could feel with every touch, encounter, innuendo and everything in between. I liked that this book was really funny at the right times and managed to still have plenty of heart warming ones too. It had everything and therefor deserves the best kind of rating.
Hot Cop gets a RED AND BLUE SWIRLING FIVE SHOOTING STARS!
Hot Cop (Too Hot to Handle) Book One is a fabulous romantic comedy written by Aubree Valentine. The main characters, Officer Rhys Mitchell and writer KJ "Kelsey," are two very strong- willed people. If they weren't verbally sparring with one another, which was hilarious, they were tearing each other's clothes off. Let me tell you, Rhys and Kelsey were hot and steamy between the sheets! There is plenty of sexual tension between the couple, but also a great deal of tenderness. You'll be surprised when a secret is unveiled - I held my breath when that happened. You'll probably shed a few tears here and there. I did. Overall, Hot Cop delivered on every level that you expect from a sexy, romantic comedy. I didn't want Rhys and Kelsey's story to end and happily, Aubree will be bringing us more in the very near future! Five stars!!!
Get ready to feel the heat as you turn each page and fall in love, hard and fast, with Rhys Mitchell! Hot Cop will touch your heart and soul, leaving an everlasting effect long after you've finished reading it. Full review to come on release day.
This hot cop shocked me in 2 big ways. The story and the character himself. I had no idea how funny I’d find this book or how much I’d like and connect to the characters. Hot cop isn’t just a pretty face, I learned that right along with KJ. It’s hard to write this review without revealing a big secret. So I’ll sum it up, this book had all the stuff people need in life to make it great, therefore makes a great story. Friends, family, the ability to laugh at eachother, love, and a dash of drama.
Hot Cop is the first book in the Too Hot To Handle series, and what a fun read this was. If you are a member of the romance book community, you know that attending author signings usually sets up a memorable weekend for all involved. Hot Cop is the story of what happens when bestselling romance author, K.J. Pierce, encounters Tallahassee’s newest viral sensation, police officer Rhys Mitchell, during one such event.
Sparks fly when they meet at a book signing, resulting in a wild weekend together. After a stupid misunderstanding, they go their separate ways. One year later their paths cross again, and this time there is tension in the air. What results from their unexpected reunion is both hilarious and heartwarming.
Hop Cop is full of snarky humor and inside jokes for authors and readers of the romance community. As I read the novel, I thought to myself that I’d likely attended the same signings as K.J. and Rhys. I felt like I knew both them and their circle of friends, people who are dealing with that thing called RL, but also taking the time for creative pursuits and chasing their dreams. The characters in Hot Cop are relatable, funny, and overall good people.
Even better, a portion of the proceeds from Hot Cop will benefit Basketball Cop Foundation. This charity aims to build relationships between law enforcement and youth through trust. This is done primarily by supporting law agencies with sports equipment that is then passed from patrol officers to youth they interact with on the streets.
I’ll always happily recommend a book that also supports a worthy cause, but if you’re also looking for something light and funny, scorching and sweet add Hop Cop to your summer reading list.
One weekend of passion. A year to forget. Fate, or is it Murphy decides to put them back together to tempt and test them...
Kelsey is an author and after a weekend of steamy sex is hurt when Rhys walks out. It turns into a steamy romance novel. She hopes to avoid Rhys at the book con, but as I mentioned Fate and Murphy are a biatch and he's at the table next to her. Can she keep her hormones, and other secrets, in check and avoid the one man she can't stop thinking about?
Rhys is a SWAT officer who, after a single picture goes viral, tests the waters as a cover model. As the weekend for another book convention begins, the one woman who has plagued his dreams and fantasies is the one woman he pulls over for speeding. He knows she's avoiding him, but the sparks are there from that second and he's determined to win her over. Because he wants more with her.
Another weekend of steam and then a late night escape leads to Rhys tracking her down. But what he finds is not nearly what he expects. Can they find a happy relationship with the secret Kelsey has been hiding? Do distance and time make the heart grow fonder? I can tell you that the author had me laughing so hard I was in tears and my family looked at me like I'd lost my mind. I absolutely enjoyed this story, with so many relatable moments that I couldn't help but laugh, smile, and cheer for the couple. My one complaint... The massive cliffhanger at the end of the story. The one time I wanted to scream, rant, and rave. Now I have to wait to see what happens next, because I absolutely must know what happens!
I knew I would love this lol I hate when the women hide the child from the father in these stories. Also, coming right out and telling them the very next time they see them though is also pretty lame. The suspense of waiting to tell them is always fun to read. But she decided for him that he shouldn't be tied down or forced to be a father and didn't tell him. I get that she didn't want to trap him but in the end it's his choice to make. He told her before he knew about Reid that he wanted to make it work with her. He didn't want a weekend of sex so why at that point didn't she tell him? He wanted her before the baby so when he found out about the baby he would've still wanted her. She definitely regretted her choice though.
Rhys is amazing for forgiving her and giving her another chance. She hurt him bad yet he still wanted to have that family with her. I loved his character :) OMG and when she handcuffed him and left him - AHHHH I was dying
They keep mentioning the first time they met was when he helped her fix her tire, but the prequel didn't mention anything about that at least from what I remember. The prequel made it seem like their first meet was the coffee shop. Also, why was swat watching the author convention? Isn't that for regular cops? lol
Either way, I really loved their story. FMC was a bitch but she grows on you. I've already added Smitty and Zoey's story to the TBR list. I am needing to know more about what happened to Zoey at the end of this book. Plus I really enjoyed the author's writing and the story was really great. I'm excited to read more :)
I love books about cops (and firefighters!) They're my weakness so I was REALLY excited to read this and let me say- Ms. Valentine did not disappoint! Kelsey and Rhys met one evening and blew each other's minds. That night meant something to them both beyond a one night stand but misunderstandings lead each one to believe the other blew them off. Their reunion months and months later is hilarious and had me snorting along with the characters. Neither KJ or Rhys is able to pick up where they left off due to circumstances (that I won't say!) but it was great watching them try to find their new normal while dealing with crazy friends, distance, and something completely life altering! And that ending... Let's just say it had me completely devouring Zoey and Dylan's story, too! So let me amend my first statement- I love books with cops that can make me laugh, swoon, and feel completely invested in. This one had all three!
The storyline was acceptable. The main characters were well structured. I'm older so the other characters were much too immature to take seriously. The big problem for me was a lack of quality editing. The number of words incorrectly used was totally unacceptable! I wanted to reach for my red pen. "Bounded" is ridiculous and poor Lucy definitely should "bark". The list of mistakes were very distracting. I won't be reading the next book.
What a great read!! I giggled at the references to fans and signings. I will try very hard to be a good girl when I go to the next one!! Lol it’s like a subtle rule book. This story was great!! Hot and sexy cop, beautiful and confident writer.... what could possibly happen! A lot of explosive connections and a great story is what happened!! A must read and I need to read the next one!
It was hot , sweet , sexy and sad in spots .. They met fell apart , met fell apart .. The writing was good and the storyline did flow .. I am not a huge fan of a bunch of "misunderstanding's" between the lead characters and wow these ones had them for almost all of the book .. And in the end they both could have found each other if they really wanted to .. He was a cop , she was a writer and they met at a writing convention ..
It was a good story and a cute read overall, however, there are definitely some typos and I don't like a cliffhanger ending that leads into the second book. I hope that the second book does not do that as well. Because that gets old really quickly.
This was such a fun book to read with great characters and a believable storyline! Such great chemistry between Rhys and KJ! I liked too how realistic it was with the book world; author events, photographer and photo shoots! I'm anxious to start Book 2!
I liked this book well enough. I felt the female lead was a little too bitchy and immature through most of the story. The male lead was a very likable character. The love scenes were steamy and I will be reading the rest of the series.
Plot: Rhys and Kelsey meet when he stops her car (he's a cop). They spend a hot night together, and then he seemingly walks out the next morning before she gest out of the shower. She's not impressed, even though he's this viral sensation, Hot Cop, due to being photographed being heroic and hot. She doesn't bother catching up with him, and decided not to tell him that she got pregnant and had his baby. She's a romance novel writer, and it turns out that he had started moonlighting as a cover model, so they run into each other again while she's on her way to another convention. At first he doesn't even recognize her! They connect, then disconnect, then connect again.
Character development: There is the typical miscommunication you find in a secret baby story. He's pretty mad, and you can't blame him; at that same time, I felt really sorry for her because she truly thought he walked out on her. He's slow to forgive, but does eventually, of course. She learns to be more trusting and grovels a bit.
Part of a series: Yes (Too Hot to Handle)
Would I read more from this author/in this series: I am interested in the couple in the next book
This was a pretty good book, and included a lot of humor along with the main plot. It was an interesting idea to see the authors and models interaction. Solid entry.
This is NOT a book you should read in public especially if you need to be quiet!!! I laughed so many times at the banter between these characters. You could Feel every emotion as it was expressed. I'm looking forward to Smitty and Zoey's story..
This book was amazing! I began reading at 5pm and finished by 8am the next morning....I couldn’t put it down! Patiently awaiting the next book! Bring it on
