Misdemeanor is the first standalone in the Bleeding Blue Series.
Michelle Thomas is a romance author, but that description barely scratches the surface of the works she has written and published. Her stories have the tendency to span across multiple genres, yet always manage to keep steamy romance and real love at the heart of each story. She draws inspiration from real life and the raw, sometimes gritty truths that accompany it.
She’s a dog-mom, a caffeine addict, and obsessive bookworm who lives in Ontario, Canada.
From the very beginning I was hooked. As Alex and Hailey’s story developed I struggled to put it down, desperate to find out how it was going to play out between them. I loved Hailey’s strength after everything she’d been through, she really was a force to be reckoned with, as Alex puts it. Alex, well, Alex was hot! I loved his cockiness and jack the lad attitude but also his sweetness behind closed doors. I was dragged into this story from page one and I’m gutted it’s over so soon. I’m already patiently waiting for the next one in the series. I need more hot cops in my life!
OK, so this is my first read by this author and yes, I will read more by her:) As much as I looked forward to this book (policeman romance, I love) I just didn't feel like it quite lived up to my expectations. I liked it but just didn't fall in love with it.
For me, the writing was good, it was the execution of the storyline that was lacking for me. It all happened so fast and yes, Hailey got on my nerves at first but for me, I felt I needed "more" to fully connect with them. I did like them a lot as a couple and by the end I was swooning but the "build-up" for me is what I would have liked to see played a bit different.
Alex was a total swoon worthy man and Hailey took a bit to completely warm up to but again by the end I was so happy for them!!!!!
10 stars- As I finished this book it instantly became one of my top five favorites of the past year. The characters, the storyline, the truth between the pages that life is what we make of it. For one person happy is different than for another, and it isn't always fluff and fairytales. This book was amazing and as I read, the pages had to turned faster. Once I got near the end though I purposefully slowed down because I hated to see it end. What happens when the life you live isn't really yours? Is it possible to let go of all the mistrust and secrets and find someone? Thank you for allowing me to read this and write a review.
Misdemeanor by Michelle Thomas is an emotional crime romance that will pull you in and hold you till the final chapter. Hailey Spencer is running and when her past catches up to her their will be blood. Alex Brett is a by the rules cop who can't let Hailey go. He feels the need to protect her even though she's keeping a ton of secrets from him. I loved the mystery elements in this story and couldn't predict each move which I adored, also I'm pretty good a guessing so hats off to the author for being able to do that. The connection between our leads was a perfect balance and kept me glued to the page. 4 Hot Cop Stars for Misdemeanor by Michelle Thomas

Misdemeanor by Michelle Thomas a five-star read that can do no wrong in my eyes. This book will grip you from the first page, you will be sucked into the darkness and won’t see light for a very long time, but it’s worth it when you do. Alex and Hailey have a very deep and complex story to tell, and when they tell you the details you won’t be able to put it down. Hailey could have been wrote in so many ways but the way the author has created her made her a character that you feel compelled to read more from a character that you have to get to know. Overall this was a great story and one that you need to read, Michelle Thomas has a way with words that flow on to the page like pen to paper.
This book is a REFRESHING change. It doesn’t always start out being all hearts and roses. It’s filled with pain and distrust. That sometimes the path we take, while thwart with fear and danger, the end is and can be a pretty spectacular destination, if you take a monumental risk and leap of faith.
A PHENOMENAL, GUT WRENCHING read. The inner strength found inside each character to find peace and justice, even when justice seems so fleeting and fragile.
When you’ve been on the run, the price you pay to keep yourself safe can be and is steep. As Hailey, discovered early on in her young life, sometimes doing the right thing, to find justice for crimes committed, puts you in the crosshairs of a very bad man. That man, literally becomes your living nightmare.
Nothing and no one will stand in the way of a cruel psychopath, hell bent on revenge and playing his twisted mind games. Malicious, taunting, murderous games played to unhinge and make Hailey live in fear, even though she knows time is closing in.
Our journey, can change in an instant. Just doing his job brings Alex into Hailey’s path. Despite the antagonistic front Hailey continually throws at Alex… he sees more to her, something about her intrigues him and feels compelled to help her.
Incredibly strong characters, that feel real. The back and forth banter that captures this is what’s so welcome. They both are fearful but never afraid to share their feelings and fear.,When they learn to trust and let down their guard - they both can call the other out on snarky behaviour and know they are in safe hands. With such depths of inner fortitude and never give up attitude. That same inner fortitude and resilience, is what they will need in a fight for their lives.
A beautiful story, well written and thoroughly intriguing in its page-turning intensity and dramatic suspense. You’ll hold your breath with each page… to see where Michelle leads you. Misdemeanor is so worthy of your time to read Michelle Thomas’s beautifully written words.
Just WOW! This gripping, thrilling read is a block buster movie in the making! Oh what prose from a superb author Michelle Thomas, one of my favourite authors. She draws you in from the first page to the very last page! Hailey saw her mother shot and killed by Creighton Banks, a drug dealer, when she was 12 years old. She cannot forget his words “No one betrays me and lives”. So the chase of her life begins! She changes her identity and runs. Alex Brett is a police officer who is trying to find out why Hailey is feisty, evasive, haunted and nervous about an investigation of her purse being stolen! All Hailey knows is that she feels safe around him. Alex wants to protect her, but she just will not trust him! Creighton Banks and his cronies are still tracking her every day. Will the weight of the truth and her past become to much too bear? She is tired of running and she is so lonely. Alex is her muse and Hailey his kryptonite. Will they survive this life together? Could they defeat Creighton Banks? Will the hope he has given Hailey be enough? It’s such a pity that our path in life isn’t labelled! What a fantastic, highly recommended, must read this book is. This is my honest review of an ARC I received.
Here's what you need to know about this author: She's absolutely fantastic at being such a diverse writer. She doesn't stick to one particular type of genre, or give typical cookie-cutter type endings to her books. And I LOVE that every time she publishes something new, I never know what to expect! She's the type of author I wish more people knew about, because her stories deserved to be read around the world.
All that being said, Misdemeanor may just be my favorite book of hers, and that's saying a lot because her last book, To Save A Life was just that. My favorite book of hers. Alex and Hailey have now taken those honors.
Alex and Hailey are both complex characters that are extremely well written. One is hiding something and the other is determined to find out what it is. Alex is strong-willed and patient, and Hailey is just down right stubborn, but you'll love that about her.
There is so much to their story. Crime, drama, suspense and a few dashes of romance, all rolled up into one beautifully written tale. I'm very excited to see who she brings us next and where she take this series. I have a feeling it's going to be her best one yet!
This book has a little bit of everything you could want within the "romance" genre. Some heat, passion, suspense and throw in not trusting the other and yet there being an undeniable attraction from the very first page. This book isn't always pretty and that makes it seem that much more real and sucks you in. You can feel the pain that Hailey experience on a daily basis, always trying to stay one step ahead of people out to get her. Alex in a way is a breath of fresh air and yet he compromises everything to help her and there is just something more about her and he just can't stay away.
Together they are a great pair, even when we watch her slowly learn to open up and trust Alex...and honestly I think that is my favorite part. You could see her feelings coming out more and more and her learning to trust and open up, it wasn't an instant thing, but the gradual way that it happened made it that much better.
The suspense keeps you on the edge of your seat. This book sure takes you on a journey and you sometimes wonder if you can survive it (in the best way possible).
Like other Michelle Thomas works, this one does not disappoint! I was intrigued about this dramatic romance by this author as she usually includes unpredictable twists in her stories that leave you dumbfounded and amazed.
However, I felt this plot line was in keeping with other mainstream romance story lines and I must admit, I was a little disappointment in its predictability. Nonetheless, I loved Alex, the main hero in this story. He was real and gritty and tenacious. I wasn't too keen on the heroine in this story; I felt like she was this skittish little kitten who all of a sudden grew up and took responsibility for herself and her actions from one day to the next, near the end of the story.
I do believe that mainstream romance readers will LOVE this story. The sex scenes are incredible and the suspense keeps you hanging on. I will continue to watch out for this author's future works and look forward to the next novel in this series!
Having read every book by this author, I feel like I say this every time, but this is definitely her best book yet! She just keeps outdoing herself with every book!
In Misdemeanor, there was a little bit of everything. Along with the unveiling of enticing, multi-layered characters, there was the thrill of a crime drama, with an element of romantic entanglement mixed in. Alex was a quick-witted, foul-mouthed, rough around the edges cop with so much more than meets the eye. Hailey was a strong female in over her head, but not going down without a fight.
This book had me reading like wildfire out of control as I wanted to know what happened next, yet I was also sad when the rollercoaster ride was over. I really look forward to reading more from this series!
5* Read Danger, Suspense and a Hot Cop what more could you ask for in a story? Well if your greedy like I am then a happy ever after would be nice as well! This book has it all and as well as everything mentioned above the story is really well written. You instantly fall in love with the main characters Hailey and Alex and their relationship is feisty and funny from the start. I love that this book has a really strong female character who can hold her own and that the male encourages that rather than try and make her fall in line. Hailey has a really sad back story and that along with the evil in this book really gets your emotions going. I really enjoyed this book and couldn’t put it down and I look forward to reading more books by Michelle.
This story tells of how even through tragedy love can always be found...this story has you completely hooked from the first chapter and the ending is just perfect!!
I honestly couldn’t put this book, if I did have work and life in my way would have read it in just a few hours, it was that good!
Hailey has a strength about her you just have to admire, even with everything that has happened, she still keeps fighting...now Alex is such a cocky person, but I love how he just fights alongside Hailey and vows to protect her.
This is my first book by this author and definitely won’t be my last, I enjoyed seeing how this story developed and liked her writing style, definitely a 5 🌟 read.
Misdemeanor is a must-read! I give it ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ stars. From the very first page you can feel the intense and powerful connection between Alex & Hailey and trust me when I say, it only gets stronger with every page. I loved everything about both characters, the way that Alex was so sweet and attentive to Hailey but at the same time, he wasn't afraid to say it like it was. And Hailey!! Now that’s one strong and stubborn women. In my opinion, they are the perfect fit. I won’t give away any spoilers, all I’m going to say is; GO PRE-ORDER MISDEMEANOR NOW!!! It’s releasing March 19th🖤
I really loved this story! I had a hard time putting it down even to sleep. Alex is a sexy cop with tattoos (my weakness right there😉) and Hailey is a strong woman who is running from her past. They meet after she is mugged and after that moment Alex knows something is up with Hailey and he wants to help her. Hailey is scared and doesn't want help but she can't resist Alex. Together they will fight her past and for the chance at a happy ending. I will recommend this story for sure!
Hailey and Alex, a really bad guys daughter and a sexy officer. I won't spoil the story for you buy divulging spoilers rather say you will enjoy this read. Overall quality of writing was good. Proofreading was good. No cliffhanger or cheating and you get a happy ending. Intimacy scenes were PG which surprised me because if this was a movie it would have been rated R. I think with a wee bit of tweaking, Ms Thomas will have a 5 star instead.
I love reading books that are part of a series because I become so invested in the characters, and the first book of the Bleeding Blue series did not disappoint. Great characters and a wonderful story line, and because it is a series, the story will continue! Can't wait for the next book in the series! Definitely recommended if you are looking for something new to read.
This read was really Good. Plot was really interesting and not rushed in any way. Characters ... made me fall in Love with them: Both strong, not ideal, fighting. Really Good story for fans of strong characters, sexy cops and following past.
Intense, oh so intense. This book was a wild ride from the first page. I adored Alex and Hailey, they fight so hard for each other. The writing is great and the plot is fantastic. Great job Michelle Thomas!
Loved this story! the chemistry between the main characters. the sarcasm and strength is truly fun to read. I was not disappointed in this book. hated that my day job kept getting in the way!
This was my first read by this author and I really enjoyed it. This book kept me guessing until the very end. Good balance between the romance and suspense.
This is an emotional, raw, heartwrenching and intriguing read. Author Michelle Thomas has portrayed the protagonists in a way that captivates the reader from the first letter and makes them feel part of the story.
The characters are well developed, have great chemistry and let their struggles and insecurities shine through in their actions and thoughts.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Readers Copy of this book.
