From bestselling author Stacey Lynn comes This Time Around, an emotional and sexy standalone contemporary romance!
Five years ago I married the man of my dreams. He was supposed to be my last first kiss--my happily ever after. He promised to hand me the world, but in one night, all of those promises were shattered.
Now, I was barely surviving the tragic loss of my husband, struggling daily to manage what was left of the life we'd promised to build together, when Cooper Hawke unexpectedly walked into my life.
The Hollywood heartthrob had plenty secrets of his own and his eyes held the same darkness as mine. I couldn't stop myself from needing to know why. And as much as I tried to keep him out of my heart, he slipped past all my defenses.
We both had pasts that destroyed our trust and had broken our hearts, but nothing will stop Cooper from trying to convince me we could have it all this time around.

Title: This Time Around (Love In the Heartland #1) Author: Stacey Lynn Genre: Contemporary Romance Publication Date: April 10, 2018
This was such an unexpectedly good read. I knew I was going to like this book after reading the blurb but I never expected to love it as much as I did. This Time Around is truly a marvellous read. Stacey Lynn has written a book that allows the characters and the readers to grow together, get to know each other and fall in love. Yes, I will consider this book to be a slow burn romance but never once did I get bored or skim through the pages (isn't that the worst? That is a sure sign of a boring book).
Cooper is a true heartthrob, there is no denying that he captivates everyone, including yours truly. His charm... let's be honest and say that if he was real? You'd be gigging away feeling so enamoured too. Rebecca is so hardworking, so kind and down to earth... I love her strength. I love her will.
This Time Around is a beautiful book. A wonderful story of having a second chance in love and I can't wait for you to read this book. I highly recommend it!
I loved this story and I am so excited to read more about the people in this town in Kansas. If you relish books about small town life (True North Series by Sarina Bowen for example) then I think you are going to love this.
Cooper Hawke is an actor in Hollywood and he is hugely successful, famous, wealthy and gorgeous. He has been married to a Brazilian supermodel for five years but the marriage is over and a bitter divorce is underway. In order to get Cooper away from the relentless paparazzi, his agent sends him to a Ranch in Kansas which belongs to his niece Rebecca.
Rebecca is still reeling after the death of her husband , Joseph. The circumstances of the death are heart breaking but not what I expected and I thought it was a good twist.
Ultimately, this is a book about healing and moving on but there is so much more to it than just that. It is really well written and I cried at certain points - laughed at others. There are sweet moments mixed in with poignant ones. The secondary characters are so well written and engaging and I am itching for Jordan (Rebecca's younger brother) to have his story told.
I really enjoyed losing myself in this book. Rebecca is a beautiful heroine and my heart ached for her sometimes. Her isolation and loneliness were virtually palpable but there was never a sense of hopelessness and I loved her inner resilience and strength and that ultimately her tenacity got her through a really tough time. Equally , Cooper was a solid hero. He really is a sweet guy and he is not a manwhore or a player. He kind of wears his heart on his sleeve to a degree and it was really refreshing to read a strong, alpha male who was gentle and had no intention playing games or cheating.
I wasn't the guy who took it lightly when a woman gave herself to me.....I wasn't the guy who filled his weekends with meaningless one-night stands.
He fell hard for Rebecca and it was deliciously intoxicating to watch him fall. He is truly swoon worthy.
"She was a woman to be treasured, cherished, and taken care of every day for the rest of her life."
And he was so protective of her....
"She had the vulnerability a man like me wanted to protect, the backbone to stand on her own."
This is a deliciously intense read that will pull at your heartstrings and will also make you smile. It's a sexy, smouldering and entertaining book. I kept thinking about Rebecca and Coop even when I should have been doing other things!
These two are absolutely on my Top Book Couple shelf.
He made me laugh, he treasured me, and he loved me. That he had a way with his sexy, strong hands and body molded to perfectionwere very yummy side effects.
HEA? Yes...I really hope we get books about other characters is Town and the chance to catch up with Rebecca and Cooper. Cheating? No way! Coop is seriously a one woman man and Rebecca is loyal too.
My musical muse for Rebecca and Cooper... Me Too by Toby Keith This Year’s Love by David Gray.
What happens when you're cheated on by a spouse you have cherished since the day you met? Well that's what happened to Cooper, now this actor needs to get away and clear his head before he starts filming his next movie that is sure to bring him an Oscar. What Cooper didn't expect is to fall for the farm owner and widow Rebecca.......
He is going through a divorce with his model wife and she is recovering from her husband's death. They meet when her uncle sends him there to get away from his cheating lying exwife. She stopped living and he brought her back to life. It was sweet, he is faithful to her, but he did make out with the heroine when he was going through a divorce but that didn't bother me. The ending was good but the book dragged around 60% through the end for me. I will read this author again though.
I was shocked and surprised by this story. The cover does say it: a real life romance. And it was. It also broke my heart at watching Rebecca deal with her grief after she lost her husband and having to deal with the neighbors sabotaging her to force her hand at selling her land to them. I wish that i could say i've read something like this from this author in the past, but i haven't, so i have nothing to compare it to.
It was nothing like what i've seen from her so far, and quite honestly, i love seeing authors step out of what i'm used to seeing from them and deliver a story that is gripping and emotional. This Time Around is the type of book that will make you take a hard look at yourself, your endeavours, your goals and your life and make you think on whether or not it's making you happy and fulfilling you in the way that you've always dreamed it would. It was also surprising because it's the kind of story that doesn't explode or burn brightly right from the start, but rather, it warms up slowly until you finally realize that you've caught fire and there isn't much you can do about it.
I wish i could say that this story was fast paced, was full of action, but it isn't. It's soulful and it's also beautiful. I can't commend this author enough for penning this story and letting us readers enjoy it. I can only hope that i get the chance to read the next instalment in this series to see where we're going from here.
This time around was a good novel most of the time. I honestly don't understand why Rebecca had so much trouble saying three little words when she was feeling them. She didn't deserve Cooper as her happily ever after. The dude did everything in his power to make sure that she was taken care of and he was there for her. He had a more loving relationship with the little goat. When I was reading the book I felt like Cooper had found his forever woman and Rebecca had just found someone to help her get over her husband's death. I wanna know if Cooper won an Oscar for his latest role. And I wanna know why Rebecca's first husband did what he did the night he died. I didn't get closure.
The secondary characters were a nice touch to the story and they made everything better. I hope the next books in the series will feature them and not someone else. I want to see how the author plans to give them their happily ever afters. I have to say that I was a little unfair to Rebecca and that she was a good person. It's just that the story was going so well until she hesitated and never said the words. After that, some things seemed forced and I grew a little tired of reading this book. Overall, the book was good and I would recommend it. Cooper is a great hero.
This Time Around by Stacey Lynn is the story of Rebecca and Cooper. Cooper has left Hollywood to hideout at a remote ranch while his marriage has imploded and is being played out in the press. His agent suggests he stay at his niece’s ranch. He needs to get away and clear his head before he starts filming his next movie which is sure to bring him an Oscar. Rebecca Splendid is a country girl , a cattle farmer. She is also a widow who is barely surviving her grief and doesn’t know how to make it thru each day. Her uncle asks a favor of her, to let his favorite client come and hide out at her ranch. She cant say no so she is willing to let this city slicker come but what she didn’t expect was the immediate chemistry, the connection between them to happen. It was amazing to read how Cooper reacted to being on the ranch vs city life; how he compared his life prior to Rebecca to now with Rebecca. This was a beautiful and unique story that had so many good moments, tissues will be required. There are secrets and suspense, romance and intrigue that keeps you glued from start to finish. I loved every moment. Will Rebecca let Cooper into her life , will Cooper admit their love is real, will they pursue a relationship or let things go when he leaves the ranch? All these questions and more will be answered when you read this fantastic and beautiful 2nd chance love story.
My Rating: 4.6 stars ***** “I received an advanced copy of this book from the author at no cost to me."
I truly enjoyed This Time Around by Stacey Lynn. It was a sweet and charming story about second chances. It had great characters and really engaging story I lost myself in.
Cooper Hawke has it all. As a well-known and liked actor, his life is everything he could ever want. It was perfect. Until he found his wife was cheating on him. Now he feels lost and wants to runaway as his life implodes for all to see. At a friend’s recommendation, Cooper decides to lay low at his niece’s ranch.
Rebecca is a young widow who is grieving her husband’s unexpected death. She is struggling to move forward and buries herself in running her ranch. But when her uncle asks for a favor, she cannot say no. But she did not expect her response to Cooper when he arrives. She is determined to keep him at arm’s length.
Cooper and Rebecca were both so lost and broken when they meet, but their connection is strong and definitive from the start. But Cooper’s life is somewhere else, and Rebecca is still devastated. Even as they begin to connect, can they ever really have a future?
This was a beautiful and charming second chance romance with all the feels. It was slow burning and loved seeing them begin to open up to the other. Stacey Lynn did an amazing job engaging readers with This Time Around. I am so excited to read more in this series.
4.5 stars. Read and reviewed for Sultry Sirens Book Blog.
A big thank you to Social Butterfly PR and Author Stacey Lynn for an advance copy of this book.
This is my 4th book by Stacey Lynn and it won’t be my last!! For me she consistently delivers unique and realistic storylines with characters you can’t help but fall in love with. There is no drama for drama sake driving her stories and the supporting characters aren’t just ‘fillers’ but genuinely add to the story.
This Time Around is a beautifully written slow burn romance between Hollywood heartthrob Cooper Hawke and country girl cattle farmer and window Rebecca Splendid.
So how does a Hollywood Actor who knows nothing about farming find himself on cattle farm in a small country town outside Kansas for the summer? And why is the owner less than impressed by his arrival despite having previously agreed to him coming and helping her?
Our story slowly unfolds and through dual POV we discover the reasons and motivations that brought these 2 seemingly very different people together. They soon realise they both experienced very similar circumstances at the hands of their spouses but it was how they chose to deal with the fall out that was the difference.
I must admit I loved Cooper instantly, but Rebecca took a while. It wasn’t until we found out why she was so closed off and cold that I warmed to her and understand where she was coming from.
I really enjoyed how their relationship developed and with small and very cautious steps developed into more. I hope that with the next book in the series that Ms Lynn revisits them and give us an update on what is happening in their lives.
This Time Around by Stacey Lynn is the story of Rebecca and Cooper. Cooper is a Famous Hollywood actor who is dealing with a broken marriage. With down time between films he decided to go of the grid which lead him to Rebecca's ranch. Rebecca too is dealing with a lost marriage but her is due to her husband sudden death and not to mention her parents early death a few years ago. Rebecca and Cooper get to know one another and find an attraction that they can't deny. But what happens with Cooper returns to his real life? Great second chance at love story.
I have read all of Stacey Lynn's books and it has been amazing to watch her grow as an author.
This book was not your typical cocky Hollywood heart throb story. This was a beautifully written story about loss, betrayal, strength, hope, and love. I loved everything about this book. From the storyline to all the characters. It was very well thought out. It held my attention from the beginning to the very end. A definite must read!!
I like this story of small-town midwest rancher meets big time Hollywood. Love the characters, the setting, the slow build from hate to friends to more. There are some slow sections but not too slow. For me personally, I don't like a lot of inner thoughts.
There were some touching moments but I found it too superficial and focused on appearances. I just did a word search for 'beautiful' and there are 15 pages of results on my ereader. Sure, not all of these are connected to people (I believe there was mention of a beautiful quilt) but most of them are. Here are some examples: - She was everything beautiful I'd ever wanted. - Scared and pale and on the verge of tears, she was still the most beautiful woman I'd ever seen. - For that moment when she smiled, it hadn't just made her more beautiful, it had reached her eyes. - She looked as pure and beautiful as she always did, with her hair draped over her shoulders, a light sheen of gloss on her lips. - You're so damn beautiful. - I covered my hand with his because I couldn't not touch him, he was so beautiful. - She was stunningly beautiful, with soft curves in all the right places, trim and firm muscles in her legs and arms.
I'll stop there because I've already spent too much time on it.
Cooper was a likeable guy but I didn't really connect to Rebecca. I wasn't engaged in the story.
Rebecca and Cooper are both dealing different tragedies that may be more similar than they think. Rebecca's uncle Max, is Cooper's agent, arranges for him to hide out on the family ranch. Cooper is going through some things with his soon to be ex-wife and being a popular movie star, doesn't make it easy to go and hide away somewhere. A ranch in Kansas sounds like the perfect spot. Rebecca isn't so sure seeing how she's still getting over her husband's death 8 months ago. Cooper knows nothing about farm life, but is willing to learn. He soon realizes that he picks it up pretty fast and it's actually good for him. The author did a good job giving us a look inside the characters' heads and gave us a duel POV. For a movie star, Cooper is really humble and I loved how caring he was. I loved how beside them facing tragedy and getting to know the other, we got a look in to the farm life Rebecca had going. It sounds like a beautiful place to live. Being in a small town makes things complicated at times and we got a taste of that. A lot of romances only focus on the couple so, it was nice to read about the friends Rebecca had and her protective brother. They seemed like an amazing group of people to have as a support system. Also, I loved that the author kept the drama to a minimum when it came to Camilla. It could've been dragged along or been a major deal. I liked that while we knew things were happening, it didn't become the whole book. There was a nice balance of past, healing and learning to trust new people. I think the only reason this book didn't get 5 stars was that I just recently read another book where the main character just lost her husband and was dealing with that. Reading multiple books like this so soon right after each other makes it seeem less original. This Time Around was definitely a beautiful story filled with healing and learning to love again. Life doesn't always go as planned and sometimes you need to take risks to find out what you need in life.

4.5 star Review This Time Around (Love in the Heartland #1) By Stacey Lynn
This was an emotional roller coaster of a ride to read with moments of grief, anger, guilt, romance, passion and oh so much more.
Escaping from a bad marriage break up, actor Cooper Hawke is given the opportunity to escape the press by staying and helping out on Rebecca Splendid’s ranch.
Cooper has no idea that Rebecca is a widow, and is surprised by her manner and sharpness at times. Once he knows the truth it all begins to makes more sense. Told in dual POV’s I found both the leads to be strong, yet vulnerable characters; two people broken and without realising it, desperate to heal and find true happiness.
I was entranced with the story that Ms.Lynn wove, wanting desperately for Cooper and Rebecca to open their eyes and their hearts, to give love a chance to grow. The chemistry between them was blazing, with the romance slowly building between the movie star and the rancher.
I was drawn to Cooper almost immediately, Rebecca not so much, but as their story unfolded she grew on me, particularly as the depth of her hurt was revealed.
This is an emotional read and one that is well written with characters who are believable and easy to relate too. The secondary characters were just as interesting as Cooper and Rebecca and I hope to read their stories in the not too distant future.
I've read this similar storyline lately about widowers and this one has a celebrity spin on it. Rebecca lost her husband with unresolved issues that hung over her. But she needed help and finally accepts it in the form of a escaping actor from the paparazzi. Cooper has been burned too by ex so he goes to clear his head.
I like Cooper he didn't fit in farm life but he learned a lot and embraced it. Their relationship was tentative and shaky at first, there's something about Rebecca though that attracts him. She's kind and hardworking, good heart too simple and down to earth. It's a landmine of memories for them and it makes sense they took things at her pace and kicked her walls down.
It's a nice change of pace, in my opinion, they dealt with things not without minor hiccups still. talking plus Cooper is a good guy, sweet and patient with Rebecca. Rebecca can be stubborn to get help but friends don't give up on her and Cooper got her back. Honestly he felt too good to be true but it felt real enough. Still with all that happened, was it too all fast or they needed time?
This time around is a feel good, small town romance with a swoon worthy hero and a genuine down to earth heroine. I enjoyed Cooper and Rebecca's story, the pace made sense and that they gave it time. Glad to know there's more to come from this small town since the secondary characters was a blast.
This might just be my favorite Stacey Lynn books. This Time Around is beautiful and inspiring. It makes you embrace who you are and fight for what you want. And Cooper might have just made my very short list of sweet guys that I fell for.
Rebecca is recently widowed and running her family farm by herself. When her Uncle, a LA Talent agent, tells her he's sending her one of his clients to help her out because he needs to escape, she had no idea her life was about to change. Yet again. She didn't want the help but once he arrived, things sure did change.
Cooper's soon to be ex wife was the love of his life but she's been cheating on him and all he wants to do is remove himself from the toxic life she has created. While not keen on the idea of being on a ranch in Kansas, he finds that that it is in fact the one place that will give him the peace he needs. And so much more.
This Time Around is a super sweet and endearing second chance romance that will make your heart flutter and keep you swooning. I enjoyed both Cooper and Rebecca and haven't pulled for such a sweet couple like them in a long time. She's stubborn, smart and kind and he's patient, strong and supportive. These two find each other at the perfect time and just know they are right for each other.
If you want to swoon, feel the love and laugh at a goat called Pepper then you need to read this book!
I was so excited to receive an ARC of this book, and particularly because it's from Stacey Lynn! She's one of my faves.
I know celebrity-normal girl romances are usually cliché, cheesy, predictable and shallow but this one is far from it. It focuses more on the simple life... On taking a step back and just breathe... It's far from reading about whiny, ungrateful A-Listers.
This story revolves around a widowed farm girl named Rebecca and an award-winning actor named Cooper, who needed to escape the limelight for a little while... One is more broken than the other... One is brave enough to take a risk, the other is scared sh!tles$ to at least try again...
This story will definitely take you on an emotional ride... it touches on topics such as grief, infidelity and inner turmoil.
I had been in a book-hungover for a couple of days and none of my current reads got me out of my funk until I read this one... I was enthralled by the story of Cooper and Rebecca from the very beginning.
And eventhough it's mostly drama, it's not draining at all. I hope you will enjoy it as much as I did!
One of the best books I've read in a while now. While reading it my heart was breaking for both of them. They had so much happened to them and they were still fighting to try and piece their life back together again.
Copper was such a well written MC. I loved how he understood what Rebecca needed in order to heal. His love for her was felt with every word while reading. I was crying so hard for him when he opened up to her and was willing to leave everything behind him and she just couldn't accept it.
This story is heartbreakingly beautiful. It will steal your heart and much it has mine. I LOVED IT 💝

Oh my goodness!!!! This Time Around was such an amazing story!
Take one damaged, heartbroken, strong, determined woman (Rebecca) throw in a HOT, also heartbroken, sincere, man (Cooper) and what do you get????? I'll tell you: an amazing love story of two people who have been emotionally destroyed by the ones who are supposed to never hurt them in ways that they have.
I loved how the story progressed (and also the relationship development between Rebecca and Cooper); it was spot on, not too fast and not too slow. The supporting characters also played a huge part of the story as well (which I am keeping my fingers crossed that we will see all of them again.......).

“I will never regret, never be more thankful than I am right now, for every single moment I get to spend with you.”
Rebecca Splendid has just been trying to put her life back together after losing her husband suddenly several months back. Her main way of coping has been to pour her heart into taking care of the ranch she inherited from her family. That last thing she wanted, or needed, was someone like Hollywood’s biggest actor, Cooper Hawke, getting sent to her ranch to hide out for a while. In the wake of his very public and messy divorce, Cooper needed to get away from everything for a while so his agent suggested spending some time on his niece’s ranch to clear his head away from the craziness of Hollywood. Rebecca may be standoffish at first but it doesn’t take Cooper long to slip past her defenses and start to show her all the things she didn’t think she could ever have again. They may be falling for one another, but will they be willing to risk their hearts again knowing that their relationship exists on borrowed time?
I thought this was another sweet romance from Stacey Lynn. I liked how, once again, she’s taken us to somewhere completely different from her previous books. This time around we’re in the country’s heartland on a cattle ranch in a small town in Kansas. It was fun seeing a big-time movie star adjust to this very different lifestyle. Cooper was a great guy, and even though he was an A-list actor, he was surprisingly down-to-earth and very sweet. Rebecca was, understandably, very closed off when he first shows up. I was actually surprised that everyone was pushing her so hard to move on considering it had only been a handful of months since her husband passed. But I liked seeing Cooper help her through her grief, as it turns out, their circumstances were more alike than he originally thought. He was very patient with her and was very respectful of her comfort level with the speed at which they moved forward. Of course, there was some drama, but actually less than I was expecting considering all that was going on. I really enjoyed the last 15% or so and I thought the ending was really sweet. I enjoyed the group of secondary characters that we met as well and I look forward to more from this small town!

I enjoyed this title, and I liked Cooper a lot. I thought he was approachable, and genuine, and I enjoyed getting to know him, and watching his relationship develop with Rebecca.
I liked Cooper and Rebecca together, I liked their connection and the way their attraction was written. I thought they seemed like authentic people and that their connection felt real.
However, and this was tough for me, I never really liked Rebecca. I related to her, and her emotions seemed real. But I struggled to connect with her. I wanted her to warm up to Cooper, I wanted to really feel that she was ready to move on with him...and I never totally did.
While this did not make it totally un-enjoyable, I do like the books where I relate to both characters more than ones where I am left feeling a little cold. But, just like in life, you aren't going to like every person.
