Tales From The Crypt Volume 3 Introduced by the Vault-Keeper Story Adaptations by Richard Wenk
Ah… nothing like reliving your childhood like reading a classic. I grew up watching this show so it definitely brings about nostalgia. In this book there are six creepy stories and they had their own twist to it. My favorite stories were:
Midnight Mess- this story is about a brother who decides to visit his sister little does he know that the town she lives in shut down for dark because apparently there are stories of vampires taken over after nightfall. There is no such thing as vampires, right?
Voodoo Death- 2 men and a Haiti jungle stumble upon a practice that they should not see and the natives of the town don’t like outsiders, stumbling upon their rituals.
A Sucker for a spider- this story about a man who has a fascination with spiders and has a collection of them.
Describe this book in three words: Addictive, Entertaining and full of Nostalgia.
This was a very quick read for me. I finished this in one sitting there was a total of 96 pages, but this book is definitely good to relive that old time nostalgia.
"Murder Will Out" Whew! This was the spookiest one so far. Between all the killings, the backstabbin and those crawly little creatures... this will definitely make you look over your shoulder and make you sleep with the lights on.
Six overall solid tales, that apparently originate from a crypt! Jokes aside, I don’t have much to say about this read; it’s short, fun, and nothing more. The stories only lack in their simplicity. Good nonetheless. Here’s my ratings:
Midnight Mess - 10/10 Voodoo Death - 8/10 The Trophy - 9/10 A Sucker for a Spider - 9/10 Mournin’ Ambrose - 8/10 The Thing from the Grave - 10/10
Overall: 8.5, a definitely recommend this if you wanna kill an hour.
I enjoy Tales from the Crypt because of how they blend humor with horror. It lightens things up a bit. This was my first time to ever read one of these books. I enjoyed the twisted tales and frightful funnies but did find them a bit formulaic and predictable.
