One night wasn't enough… will two be too much? Violinist Astra James has never forgotten her x-rated night with billionaire Manning Brown-Hadden – or how he walked away the morning after. He's her step-brother, so he couldn't be more off-limits…but his every sinful touch is branded on her memory for life! So this time, she's going to make him beg for her! It's her game, so she's playing by her rules, one hot moment at a time…

Clare Connelly grew up in a small country town in Australia. Surrounded by rainforests, and rickety old timber houses, magic was thick in the air, and stories and storytelling were a huge part of her childhood.
From early on in life, Clare realised her favourite books were romance stories, and read voraciously. Anything from Jane Austen to Georgette Heyer, to Mills & Boon and (more recently) 50 Shades, Clare is a romance devotee. She first turned her hand to penning a novel at fifteen (if memory serves, it was something about a glamorous fashion model who fell foul of a high-end designer. Sparks flew, clothes flew faster, and love was born.)
Clare has a small family and a bungalow near the sea. When she isn't chasing after energetic little toddlers, or wiping fingerprints off furniture, she's writing, thinking about writing, or wishing she were writing.
Hmm, what to say about this book without being too negative? Well first of all I have read another of this author's 'Dare' stories and enjoyed it despite not being a fan of erotica. When I saw that she had a free story out in the same series I was happy to nab it. I wish I hadn't. It's not that it wasn't written well, it's just that, for me, there was too much sex and not enough story. I'm also not a fan of step brother/step sister relationships even if they are legally acceptable.
I know this was a free book and that it was only a novella, but I think it could have been so much more even at it's short length.
I'm so glad I didn't pay for this, because I'd be asking for my money back if I had.
I've read more of Clare's books than I can count (there's about 25 on my kindle alone), and for the most part I've always loved them.
Not this time. Basically she's done the one thing I can't forgive; gone the lazy (and currently somehow popular) route, of writing this in first person. I loath this style of writing and avoid it like the plague.
Apparently another of her recent books (Off Limits) is also first person. I won't be buying that either, sorry Clare.
I truly hope this does not indicate a permanent change in her writing style, because if it does, she's just lost a reader.
Pure sex for Astra and her stepbrother Manning. Manning was scared of causing his father more heart attack. But he kept watching her dance show from afar. She wanted to do revenge on him for walking away from her with a note after the night she gave him her virginity.

Short story = short review, or in this case a really short review since I don't have a lot to say. A second-chance romance is what Forbidden is, though romance isn't really the right word to use since this short story was all just sex. I don't mind reading sex scenes in a story, but I thought this would be a short and sweet short story, with at least a plot, and romance that'd make me swoon. Instead what I got was a short and insanely sexy read which isn't what I was looking for to read. Plus, it took me two days to read this short story that I could've finished (if I really wanted to) in half an hour. I didn't want to though; I think on this occasion I have to say that I don't think it's you, I think it's me because I know for a fact that on any other day I would've loved this short story... but at the same time, on any other day I would've hated this short story. Today, however? I just enjoyed it, so it's 2.5 stars from me.
A quick, steamy read from Clare Connelly exploring the step-sibling dynamic. All the elements of a Connelly story in a short bite-size (20-30 minute reading time) version.
