Bestselling author Cameron C. Taylor masterfully weaves ancient Hawaiian history and culture into an inspiring and engaging story set on the beautiful island of Lanai. You will be transported to a tropical paradise for an adventure of a lifetime. As you visit sacred locations throughout the island, you will be taught by a Hawaiian kahuna the principles for joyful living. You will see why Hawaii is consistently ranked as the least stressed and happiest place in the world. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the Hawaiian kahuna unfolds powerful insights into the gospel of Jesus Christ as he illuminates a more excellent way--the way of Aloha--the way of Zion.

I enjoyed listening this book which I received as a gift. Firstly, I learned new things about Hawaii and about Christian religion. I tried to understand the background of the story by searching more about the book of Mormon, and the geography and history of Hawaii. One of the interesting stories mentioned is the story of the crab in the bucket and God's gifts in temple shelfs. Secondly, I enjoyed listening to the narration. It was neatly read and convied the ideas clearly.
One of the most uplifting, inspiring, thought provoking book I've read. I'm anxious to read the other ones in the series. I bought the book the Kindle version and I'm ready to buy copies for each of my kids and one for my husband. It's a book you will want to take notes on. A MUST READ.

The Way of Aloha: Lanai is a well-written inspirational story that imparts wisdom from traditional Hawaiian culture. The lessons are deep and meaningful, and can be applied to many situations and settings in life. And having associated with the author's family, I can attest to the fact that the lessons were well-learned and applied in his personal life.
The narration of the audiobook is extremely well done. The narrator does a great job of complementing the traditional wisdom with his confident tone and superb interpretation of the lessons learned.
I would definitely recommend this book to everyone!
This book is truly a treasure!! I would recommend everyone reading this!! It is a book where the spirit of the lord flows through!! Thanks for writing such an incredible book!! Mahalo!!
What a wonderful book this is. It touched my heart, made me laugh, cry and just feel good. It was well written, inspirational and I have read it at least 3 times. It was also well edited too. I can't wait for his next book to come out about the next island. I've recommended it to many of my friends. Would be great for Christmas.
I really like the way this book brings important gospel lessons and principles into your life in a simple rememberable applicable way. It is interesting to read of the authors experiences and lessons and sights seen from his mission but that isn’t what I’m rating it 5 stars for. I feel it’s greatest value in reading it to me was the way it made me think about some principles in a new and helpful light. I’ve been to Lanai but briefly only half a day biking in a downpour so it was fun to read about somethings that were somewhat familiar from being there but also more about areas I didn’t know were there. I like the overall lesson of Aloha and Zion living.
A guide book for living a great life. Wonderful to hear the experiences of a missionary in Hawaii and all he learned from Hawaiian culture about living a life filled with love and joy.
I have been to Hawaii once and loved it! I look forward to going back one day and was intrigued by the title of this book. Cameron Taylor served his mission in Hawaii in the '90's and shares experiences he had through a fictional character named Manu. I love the way he describes the scenery in Hawaii and how he ties in gospel lessons.
My true rating is 4 1/2 stars. This is a wonderful book. Simple to read, quickly to the point and yet chock full of uplift and insight. Beautiful thoughts and beautiful look into living life the Aloha way, which we can all do without even touching a foot to the islands. This is one I want my whole family to read.
Kind of fun as I read it on my first trip to Hawaii this summer:) I liked the historical component plus spiritual insight. To me the narrative was kind of all over, but don't overthink the book. It's a good read and I look forward to his other books on the island.
Manu's lessons are life changing. I will be reading this book again to be able to ponder more deeply on the lessons I learned. My soul has been awakened to a deeper love of my Savior and things I must do to be more like Him.

The book is a short fictionalized account of the author's time as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and learning about and incorporating Hawaiian history and culture to illustrate the Gospel of Jesus Christ into our daily lives.
The story is mostly a framing device for powerful parables and examples of how the people of Lanai live the gospel and how one helps illuminate the other. It is thought provoking and emotional.
Benjamin Fife brings the characters to life. Sometimes I forgot it was one person voicing both of the main characters.
The characters are both LDS Christians and a few LDS specific terms are thrown around but outside of quotes from modern day prophets I'd say mainstream Christians should be able to appreciate 90% of the teachings.
Potential Trigger Warning: There is a brief discussion of abuse that one character suffered in the past. It isn't graphic, it is handled tastefully and helps inform the character but if that is a trigger be fore-warned.
"The Way of Aloha Lanai" by Cameron C. Taylor did not disappoint!! I cannot wait to read his next book!!! He is funny, charismatic, and keeps your interest from page one through to the very end. We are planning a trip to Hawaii in 2023 for our 25th anniversary and this makes me want to go even more! What a special place and special people. I learned so much spiritually through his insights and stories of his LDS mission to Hawaii. I wish I could meet his friend Manu in person, he is the most amazing historian and story teller. Hey, a girl could dream haha... So many spiritual connections and insights! I definitely recommend ya'll read this!!
My friend recommended this book when she learned I would be going to Tonga. A couple of missionaries learn from a local islander (in Hawaii) the way of aloha--some insightful and contemplative ideas from island history. I really enjoyed some new concepts and ways of looking at things.
This is an interesting book that mixes Hawaiian history and philosophy with Christian and LDS doctrine. It's a semi-autobiographical work and Taylor does a good job keeping the reader engaged. There are some good spiritual insights here.
It read more like a gospel text book than a story, but there were some good thoughts and analogies here. And of course, we do all need a little more aloha in our lives.
I'm not sure what genre I think this is, but I enjoyed reading this on the plane back from Hawaii. I don't agree exactly with everything, but he gave me some new things to think about.
Refreshing and light hearted read. Some mentions about LDS but overall general Christian trends. Enjoyed reading and getting reminded about some life lessons.

I found this book to be absolutely amazing. The stories were so spiritual and reading it gave me a view of things from a Hawaiian point of view. I had a hard time stopping listening to it and doing other things I needed to do.
The narration was wonderfully done. I find it hard to listen when I first come across a new narrator but Benjamin Fife is quickly becoming one of my favorite narrators.
[Second Read] I caught things in this read that I hadn't caught before.
