You want some?

She snarls those words at him with barely concealed hostility the moment he arrives at her window to ask for her license and registration.

After a few choice words, he lets her go with not one ticket, but three.

Next time she should check the attitude at the door and realize that he’s a cop, and just doing his job.

Come get some.

Fast forward a week, and he’s still unable to think about anything else but her and her bad attitude—oh, and those sexy lips, angry eyes, and her promise to make his life hell.

Knowing he should stay away, he takes a step back and tries not to think about anything that has to do with those long legs, and that mouth that could be used for much better things than spewing venom.
Then she makes a mistake.

At an interview, she rattles off a random number to use as a reference for a job that she desperately needs, and that number just happens to be Johnny’s.

She’ll regret being so rude, and one day she’ll think twice when she decides to throw attitude toward a man like him.

Vowing to make her life hell, he decides to have a little fun.

Never get enough.

What he doesn’t expect is to fall for her.

The more Johnny learns about June, the deeper he digs his hole. Soon, he doesn’t know which way is up, and he’s just fine with that.

Over time, he learns that not everyone bothers to dig past her prickly demeanor and get to the woman that lives deeper.

When one too many citizens of Hostel, Texas tries to back her against the wall, he’s had enough.

After all, you don’t mess with what’s his.

It's LIVE! https://amzn.to/2xRKU9U

Johnny was discharged due to injury after getting hit by an IED. He was home convalescing and he was hating it. He was a grown man being babied by his parents and it had to stop. When his bestie suggests that he make his way out of town, he latches onto that option and found a job (not too far away) with the police station. A standard traffic stop lands him into the clutches of notorious troublemaker, June, and the rest was absolute magic.

Mr. Good Intentions was gone. In his place was Mr. Get You Some.

I loved these characters so much. Despite June’s upbringing and the small-minded and ignorant neighbors she was surrounded with, somehow she came out so amazing. She had a huge heart and a goodness that bled through everything she said or did. She was the perfect match for Johnny, whose capacity for love made my heart so happy. I enjoyed their banter, their intimacy, and the way they didn’t stop fighting for each other. And the laughs!

My debit card is starting to feel like a gift card. I don’t know how much this has on it, but we’ll give it a try.

I still don’t know how she does it, but Lani Lynn Vale keeps giving me characters to fall in love with. Every. Single. Time. She gives me irresistible alpha heroes and the remarkable women they love. The stories are full of humor, romantic gestures, and bits of suspense. What I love most is that they’re not bogged down with platitudes. The heroes not only love their women, but they show that love in many different ways. *swoon* For these reasons and many more, Mrs. Vale’s books will always be one-clicks for me!

......SPOILERS.....

What I liked..
Well they were in their mid 20s, no older hero and young heroine in this one so I was a bit surprised by this. What else?
Can't think of anything else.

What I didn't liked..
~Slut shaming. Everyone and their mama called the heroine a whore.
~Everyone in town hated the "poor" heroine.
~OW drama. I would think that after a couple of years a woman would have moved on with her life but chasing after someone that doesn't want your ass is a bit pathetic. If a guy doesn't answer your phone calls, texts and pretty much ignored your ass and has moved on with another woman then it's time to have some self respect and moved the hell on. Don't be pathetic and chase after a man.
~Hero was ok until he committed the jerk act. Although I'm happy he wasn't a manho. He's been celibate for 2 1/2-3 years.
~Virgin heroine. Yeah yeah.. What else is new..
~The cliche move, pass the baby as the hero's. Poor little baby didn't have a father, I was pissed the author made this move but I felt sorry for the baby.
~Heroine meddling in something that she had no business meddling, she had no right, this wasn't her problem and it pissed me off that no one called her ass out. She wanted to play the "hero" first she was the one who told the hero that the OW had a baby that looks just like him and she was the one who got a paternity test because she wanted to proved that the OW was playing the hero.
~Next book will have a 45 year old man who was married to a "bitch" of a wife, she'll cause drama for him and his 25 year old love interest.

4.5 ‘Johnny and June’ Stars

Talk about Serendipity! An amazing love story just as epic as the original Johnny and June! The perfect pairing, there was no doubt they were meant to be, just look at their names! Awwww...

Can’t believe we are finally getting Johnny’s book! Can’t believe Sebastian’s little boy – from Lights To my Siren – is all grown up. And what grown up!

Johnny was never the same after his injury in the Army, so he thinks moving to Hostel, may be just what he needed. He just didn’t have any idea how much!

That is pretty clear though when the sassy and bit standoffish though innocent and sweet June falls, or better yet, speed into his lap. Her attitude and nature capture his attention immediately, and Fate then decides that can’t be the only encounter they can have.

“And it’s sweet of you to care, really it is, but I’m okay.”
He looked like he didn’t believe me.
As he shouldn’t.
I didn’t have anything together.
Not one. Damn. Thing.

June has a black cloud the size of Texas over her head, or should I say a lifetime of paying the consequences and being put in the same shoes of her horrible parents, like that wasn’t enough, a childhood of trauma caused by them, so she’s leery to let anyone close – literally and figuratively – but Johnny seems to be exception to that rule. Like it was truly fated in every way. They’re each others missing piece, really…

She felt like scorching heat on a cold winter’s night.
Like a goddamn breath of fresh air after a sandstorm in the middle of the Afghani desert.

It’d been less than a month of knowing her, but I didn’t know how I’d ever lived life before her.
She was in my every waking thought, and she never strayed far from my mind.

OMG… This man left me swooning and sighing so MANY times!!! Of course he had a couple of moments there I wanted to slap him upside his head – he’s a man, after all, lol – but overall I loved him, and the love and care he treated June from the get go. Johnny’s alpha protective nature (along with his possessiveness) were raised by tenfold around June, and oh boy was it panty and heart melting!

“How could you let some other man touch you?
You’re. Mine.”
“I’m not yours.”
“You are.”

His hair was wild, and his chest was heaving, as if this was the one and only thing that was making his life worth living.
It was the sexiest look I’d ever seen in my life.
Hands down, I knew right then and there that I was the luckiest woman in the world. To have that look aimed at me? I’d never be able to put into words what it meant to me.

We could truly feel how captivated they were for one another. From the thoughts to the actions, their attraction, chemistry and growing love was palpable from the start and the way it organically developed along with the subplots, just proof of Ms. Vale’s brilliant writing. I specially like their devotion to each other from the get go, because all that build up, that sizzling touches they managed to seems slow burn, but so overcharged, made for one hell of explosive sexy times! Johnny expresses it perfectly! LOL

The moment her tiny hand, smooth and slightly cold, touched my cock? Yeah…I was a goner.
Mr. Good Intentions was gone. In his place was Mr. Get You Some.

These two were so insanely HOT together, it’s a wonder my kindle didn’t overheat with them. Not only those times were incredible but also their down times, their developing complicity and friendship, true partnership.

“I don’t want to die when you finally made me want to live.”

June was such a complex and strong character! I ADORED her to no end and want to be be her BFF, along with Amanda! For someone that passed through hell already at such young age, she manages to overcome her fears and let Johnny – along with his family and friends – break her walls, and see just how worth it is to take the risk. She found love in more ways than one by opening herself up. And I couldn’t be happier for her!

If there is one book where the meaning and importance of true family is in this one. Having been really alone – apart from her gramps, Amanda and Tiny – all her life and never having a ‘real’ family, June saw for the first time the true meaning of family. Johnny as well and Sebastian, Baylee and Silas – it was SO GOOD to see them all again!!! – showed her just how important the ones that love you and stand by you truly are. Family is who our heart commands not the ones we are into.

Family wasn’t only blood. Family didn’t have to be so black and white. They were who you knew, without a shadow of a doubt, would be there if you needed them. I knew, if I needed them, every single person in this room would be there for me if they could be.
Johnny’s family was my family now.
They may not be related to me by blood, but they were related to me by heart.

This small life lessons are yet another reasons I love Lani Lynn Vale so much. She Lani Lynn Vale really is knocking it out of the park with this series! There is nothing simple about these SIMPLE MEN!!! They are the most deliciously complex there is and guaranteed to hook you from the start. Get You Some is another perfect example of it. Johnny and June’s love story was so beautifully written, so emotional, but yet so funny, and overall heart touching, it truly was just up to par with the ‘original’ Johnny and June. I couldn’t get enough of this two, and sincerely hope we get more of them in the upcoming book. That’s right, because with all the Coke teasing and part in this book, I’m now yet again COUNTING down the days until July 6th for Ain’t Doin’ It! <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

“What did I do to deserve you?” she asked.
I grinned and tucked a stray piece of hair behind her ear. “I think you’ve got it all wrong.”
“Oh yeah?” she asked.
I nodded. “Yeah. It’s not what you did to deserve me. It’s what I did to deserve you.”

I no longer had any fears, really. Because who could be afraid with a man like Johnny Mitchell Mackenzie at their side?

I received an ARC of this book for an honest opinion.

I have to say I'm very surprised by all the great reviews on this book. We must not have read the same story.

Johnny is a cop, and former military, who was injured in the line of duty. He pulls over June for speeding, and she mouths off, so he ends up giving her three tickets. He also can't get her out of his head.

June is the daughter of the "town delinquents" and is pretty much hated by everyone in the town because of who her parents are. I found this storyline to be extremely irritating. She was judged by things that were out of her control, and people were downright rude to her.

Johnny moved away from this parents because they were overbearing. They were concerned about him. He left and didn't talk to them for a few months. Bizarre.

Then there was a storyline with Johnny's ex that was so stupid it was laughable. This whole storyline had me shaking my head. It made NO sense and actually took away from the story. And the ending - seriously. Just so stupid.

There is also a trope in this book I hate - and had I known, I would not had chosen to read this book.

To be honest, this book was all over the place and just not very good. I would personally say skip it, but it may be up your alley - it just wasn't up mine.

Johnny needed a break from his family, after coming home injured from the military they have been smothering him. Deciding to up and move to Hostel, Texas he is making the best of the situation. Then he meets June, well he pulls her over and gets her attitude. Johnny is not aware of June's reputation, she is surly, mouthy, and the towns pariah. It wasn't her doing, it was her useless parents but no one seems to get that. Johnny is interested, June is not sure what to make of Johnny but he is not going to relent when it comes to June because she is about to become his.

This was great. I like these stories that are a continuation of the characters children I enjoyed so much. Johnny is great, he is different then what I expected and I liked that. Loved June, she is a fighter and I admired her tenacity at being her. Can't wait for what is next.

Having read so many awful Rom Coms - or whatever they are called - I think I have been worn down and I don't now expect so much, however, I didn't hate this one. I would even say that I enjoyed it! (Psst.... don't tell my friend Leonor....!)

Surprisingly the things that I thought would anger me enough to DNF right away (OW drama for one), didn't do it so much

* Note: This is my honest & true opinion and while I'll take the Fifth if pressed, I'll honestly say that I liked it in most parts maybe because I have had a few not-so-sucky reads lately (surprising in-itself) that put me in the right mood for it... hee!hee!...

The Simple Man series is the start of books for the children of the original Lani Lynn Vale men. Get You Some is about my favorite of the Dixie Wardens kids, Johnny, Sebastian’s son. Johnny was the precocious, ornery, little boy you couldn’t help but love. Johnny grew up and went into the military, an accident sends him home and he starts to feel pressured by his mom, dad and all the Dixie Wardens. He runs into his childhood BFF and Dixie Warden kid Janie and she tells him to move to Hostel where she now lives with her man. (Johnny’s parents book, Sebastian and Baylee, is Lights to My Fire, Dixe Wardens #1).

Johnny meets June when he pulls her over for traffic violations, sparks fly and June throws sass out immediately. June is the child of the town criminals, never do wellers, and the town treats her like she is as worthless as her parents, when in fact she is a hard working, independent, nice woman who was cursed with horrible parents.

Johnny quickly falls for June, but she doesn’t think she’s good enough. Johnny can’t stand the way the town treats her and his way of handling it causes friction between the two of them but they still can’t resist each other.

I absolutely loved the chemistry, teasing and relationship that Johnny and June have. It was great seeing Sebastian, Baylee, Silas, Janie and Kayla in this book. I really enjoyed that the overall tone of Get You Some is fun, fast paced, sexy and romantic while at the same time having just enough angst and plot twists to keep me eagerly turning pages until I finished it. I ESPECIALLY loved that we could see “young” Johnny peeking through in adult Johnny!

One click GET YOU SOME and spend an afternoon with sexy Johnny and sassy June in Hostel, TX, you won’t regret it!

Johnny and June's story....

Let's start off by saying that I just love this authors stories as she brings us amazing characters to love and fall in love with as well as laugh and cry.

Lani's books are truly awesome !

I really loved this story from beginning to end as the main characters where so easy to love.I love a story when both characters suffer demons from their pasts as Johnny's came from being ex-military and June's came from being a troubled teen and crappy parents.I love when that happens as the characters already have something in common to build on and grow from and perhaps bond with.

I always pick a favorite character in a story and mine this time around is going to be June. Omg! What a firecracker this girl was she brought me tons of laughs as well as having my heart go out and breaking for all she had to survive growing up due to the crappy parents who were suppose to love and protect her and did anything but.June was just a fun character who was love-able ,had a sense of humor,suffered insecurities as well as having a spine of steel and loyal to a fault.

I love how the romance developed between Johnny and June as they had a little bit of the cat and mouse game going on until Johnny took things into his own hands and when he did things heated up right then and there!Loved their romance story as it was super sweet and totally hot!

The stories plot had a nice mixture of everything we love to keep our interest and turning the pages.As the story progressed I really developed a soft spot for June as not only did she have to deal with her own demons she had to deal with her parents history with people always judging her for their past evil deeds assuming she was just like them even after making a new life for herself and writing her own wrongs.Thank God for her thick skin and knowing her own self worth!

I am really loving this series as the characters are awesome and the romance touching with just the wright amount of drama mixed in to make it a page turner for me.

Love ! Love Loved it !

Looking forward to the next read to come in this on going series and we recommend this read to all!

‘That’s because a man named Johnny, and a woman named June, will always find a way to be happy. Just ask the original Johnny and June.’

If someone would have made that remark to June Carter Common throughout the maelstrom that has been her life for the past 26 years, she would have never believed it, not because she didn’t want to find love and happiness, but because the people in her life, with the exception of her grandfather, have treated her abhorrently, making assumptions about her character based on the actions of her repulsive parents and judging her for a few misguided situations when she was a teenager.

I would even go as far as to say that her acceptance of the aforementioned truth continued to miss its mark due to her initial interactions with Johnny, who after he pulled her over and gifted her with three tickets became known as ‘Officer Douche.’ But little by little, both June and Johnny realize how much happiness and calmness they bring to one another’s life, so despite June’s aversion to touch, the town’s reprehensible treatment of June, and one nasty and deceitful ex, this Johnny and June duo work to ‘get them some’ in the most loving and heartwarming ways.

Both Johnny and June are extremely likable characters, and even though they’re both messed up in their own ways, they’re still incredibly strong people who weather their respective storms the best they know how, leaning on others when necessary but more than anything relying on themselves and enduring what must be endured while still growing as human beings.

The name of the city in which both Johnny and June live speaks to the hostility that has surrounded June her entire life. Hostel, Texas, may be a small town, but its residents know how to make someone feel like trash, even though there’s no part of June that would be described as such. I really don’t think I would have been able to handle all of the mistreatment June dealt with; I understand why she stayed because her grandfather means everything to her, but man, the townspeople are a bunch of vindictive assholes! She didn’t deserve their cruelty but there was also nothing she could do to stop it, which makes how Johnny handles June incredibly important and the fact that he sticks up for her and isn’t afraid to ‘tell it like it is’ when it comes to others’ snide comments proves that he is the perfect guy for June, even if it takes them a bit to figure that out and work through their respective issues.

I really enjoyed Johnny and June’s story; I loved watching these two imperfect people find perfection with one another, and while there is a bit of drama in the story line, outside of their individual issues, there’s never a doubt that they belong to one another and go above and beyond to prove that to each other and to the city of Hostel.

"What did I do to deserve you?" she asked. I grinned and tucked a stray piece of hair behind her ear. "I think you've got it all wrong." "Oh yeah?" she asked. I nodded. "Yeah, it's not what you did to deserve me. It's what I did to deserve you."

There's always something about Lani Lynn Vale's stories that just click with me. It's not that they're always my favorite stories or the ones I gush and gush about, but I always always remember these stories and go back to them. In fact, I totally just bingeread Heroes of Dixie Warden MC, Dixie Warden Rejects MC, and Code 11-KPD SWAT, Kilgore Fire, Hail Raisers, and Uncertain Saints MC over my spring break! This story just gave me all the more reason to keep loving her writing.

It's the characters that draw me in. They're always flawed, make multiple mistakes, and in general just keep messing up. Sounds appealing, right? No, it sounds REAL. Beneath all these "flaws," these characters have experienced life in a way that it has affected them for the future and it takes someone unique to break through and keep their heart safe. THESE are the stories I love to read.

This story gives us two characters who don't seem meant for each other in any way -- one that has been rejected by the town and another who can't quite find their place in the community. Their first meeting is not a pleasant one, their second connection is not exactly pleasant, so why the heck would they see anything in each other?

I loved getting to know these two and I also truly enjoyed their story! Recommended!

There is something about Reading a Lani Lynn Vale book all in one sitting. First off...the dialogue...is wicked funny and there is lots of it. Second....her characters are real. Like you would run into one of them when you are at the local diner or the grocery store. She writes characters what anyone can relate to. Johnny and June are no different.

Johnny is recently discharged from the Army due to an injury he received overseas. He's loved by his family and community.

June is the girl from the wrong side of the tracks. She might be an angel but everyone knows how horrible her parents are so they lump her in with them too. No chances given to prove herself different .

To escape his overbearing and overly worried family Johnny moves to Hostel and gets a job on the police force.

June is just trying to get by. Nobody will give her a chance due to her families reputation and she's at her wits end. Then she is pulled over by officer McHottie himself.....Johnny. And the rest....as they say....is history.

I read this book in one afternoon. Ms.Vale's books are my guilty pleasure. As long as she keeps writing I'll always keep reading them.

I liked this book. I loved Johnny and June. I really love that they are named after one of country's favorite couples. I am a huge Johnny Cash fan. I would listen to his music day in and day out if I didn't have to listen to my kids groan and complain.

This was an easy read. Light hearted, several laugh out loud moments. Not very much drama or angst.

This is not my typical read, It's a little on the sweet side, which is not a dig at the author, because the book was very well written, it's just about personal preference. However, I do want to go read Sebastian and Baylee's book now. The couple has me curious of how they came to be.

I would recommend this book for sure, because even though it is not my typical read, I did enjoy it. It was well written. The chapters flowed seamlessly and I read it in one sitting. I did not put it down.

There's only one reason why i hadn't finished this book within a few hours and that's because i got sick and could barely keep my eyes open to be able to finish the next chapter (and the next, and the next, and so on an so forth). There's a reason why i love the books that Lani Lynn Vale writes and it's quite simple: here are characters that are real and more than a little believable.

This series is aptly named: the Simple Men. Here are men who try to their best to be better when life gave them rotten tomatoes. Johnny was medically discharged after going through a tracheotomy while June can't stand the touch of a man - how they managed to get together shouldn't be possible, and yet, there's something about one another that draws them to each other and helps them overcome their fears. I know that i was intrigued.

I love how this author turns around and explains the different elements in her books for those that don't understand certain aspects (such as the tracheotomy, the PTSD, etc.) and especially love the fact that we get to revisit the Dixie Wardens. I won't deny that that series is the one that got me hooked to her books and i had to keep reading and since then can't get enough. Many of her books include comedy, and i found that this one was different. It got right into the fact that while we may not see it, PTSD is there and can't have adverse effects to your health if you don't treat it.

What made Get You Some so amazing? Johnny and June together were fantastic. They supported one another when they almost expected them to run away. They fought for what they want. But most of all, they make no apologies for who and what they are nor for how they fight for one another. I loved this story. Loved how these characters completed one another and especially couldn't get enough of them or their family.

I can't wait for more from Lani Lynn Vale and her way of penning stories... i'm always guaranteed something unforgettable, even if i do miss out on many hours of sleep because i have to finish her book right then and there.

Another amazing read by Lani Lynn Vale I'm such a huge fan if she is new to you you definitely need to one click all of her stories and just binge read you wont regret it . I love series that lead to next gen was excited to see that the next one in the simple man series was going to be about Johnny he was first introduced as a little boy in Lights To My Siren book one from The Heroes of The Dixie Wardens MC series , really liked him as a hero and plus seeing little snippets of his fam just made me giddy plus I'm wondering if the author will write more about his fellow soldiers side note can't wait to see what Lani does about his sister . Again like all of the authors characters I fell for the heroine June she is a spit fire , funny , sweet , and would do anything for the ones she holds dear . Ok June and Johnny LOVE LOVE LOOOOVE that the author put those names together it totally had me listing to some of their songs / wanting to re watch walk the line , the chemistry was electric they shared a funny banter while also sharing some off the charts sexy times scenes . There are many things I adore about the authors books the writing , story lines , characters , refreshing , seeing how some of the past characters are doing and future characters will be in upcoming stories .

***Received an Advanced Readers Copy during blog tour hosted by InkSlingerPR in exchange for an honest review***

First off - hot cop with hit chest showing on the cover? Please and thank you - wish you were real, you could frisk me any time of the day; cuff me while holding me again the cruiser, please. Suey like.

Yeah, I am done. Lets real it back in for an actual review...

This is my first Lani novel, though I have seen her around with other novels that have caught my eye, just haven't gotten around to them just yet, so I am happy I finally have at least one of her books under my belt! And let me tell you there were a lot of things I love and a few I disliked about Get You Some.

Firstly, I had a off hinged feeling about the characters. It was really a like or dislike kind of scenario. June was someone who was a familiar face within this small town; oh do I love small town complexities within tropes. I really enjoyed her backstory as it developed into the love interest. She was a really interesting character; she was independent and strong willed but at times she had these moments where she was overly snide in her rebuffs towards the 'haters' in the town. I liked it, for the most part, other times it was just a little too much. Johnny on the other hand made me swoon. He had this attitude about him that screamed ass hole with a heart; I really am a sucker for those types of fictional men.

Secondly - oh my lanta that chemistry. Johnny and June were on fire. I mean my kindle burst into flames it was hot. Even with the sexual chemistry being such a fantastic blend, they really helped each other on a mental and emotional level. Both suffering from troubling pasts, which I loved how the author incorporated this within the dynamics of their characters personalities. It really strengthen their bond.

And lastly there was a slight weird factor I had about the plot and dynamics of the progression for the chemistry. Obviously I loved the chemistry between Johnny and June, they had this tension awkward thing at starters which developed into a fun, adorable fling of sorts that turned really steamy. It flowed, it really did. But there were parts where things didn't flow. At least from my perspective. One minute something would be going on with our duo, then something would trigger and shift, this lead into a more questionable plot change that I couldn't quite follow. Not bad, and obviously I don't want to say which parts because that would spoil the story, but there were just particular additives to the plot between our duo's dynamics that more or less did not add up for me. Maybe the best I can offer is that at times it was kickass, loved it then other times it had this awkward feels for me... made things hard to invest and connect with.

Overall, this was a great fast paced read with really great character building that kept me glued to the pages. I definitely like Johnny more than I care to admit - plus the dorky connections between Johnny Cash and June Carter with the fictional characters was deliciously adorable. I really enjoyed this novel! I cannot wait to add more of this author to my ever growing romance TBR.

OMG. She’s back! Ok, so the author didn’t really go anywhere, but the last two books I read, in this series a matter of fact, well…they weren’t the best. I actually had a lot of issues with them. But this book was back on par. The secondary characters didn’t try and take over and the two minor scenes that Janie and Rafe were in, Janie was tolerable.

I loved watching June and Johnny become friends and then more than that. Johnny was so patient, making sure that June was comfortable with him and his touch.

I really hated the way June was treated by the townspeople. That town needs to be cleared out and done away with all the crappy people, and it’s FILLED with crappy people. I’m talking, a scene straight out of Carrie!

One thing that really bothered me in this book was June’s criminal past. Not that she had one, but that it was from when she was a minor and yet it was used against her. I get that it’s an uber small town, and people have long memories; and I don’t claim to be an expert on the law, but I would have thought that her juvenile record would be sealed and it couldn’t be used against her when it came to getting a job. Like I said, I’m not an expert.

Overall, I couldn’t put this book down. I found it much more enjoyable than the previous two books in this series and I can’t wait to read Coke’s book next!

I haven’t read a Lani Lynn Vale book in a long time. This book surprised me in a good way and I enjoyed it immensely.

The story follows Johnny, a medically discharged veteran turned local cop, and June, the town’s virgin pariah because of her family. They meet when Johnny pulls June over for speeding and it’s like fate that her name is June Carter and he was named after Johnny Cash. Sparks fly.

I enjoyed the first half of the story up to the point when they first have sex. The entire build up is intriguing because June has problems with intimacy due to teenage trauma. How can you start a relationship and lose that pesky v-card when you cringe when a man touches you? The build up is great and I couldn’t put the book down.

After the sex, the story became a little bit disjointed. It seemed to leap off from “He didn’t call.” to “We are in a relationship.” The story seemed to lose the momentum it had prior to the sex scene.

Overall, I would say that I still loved this story. It was very enjoyable and I urge all contemporary readers to get a copy.

Could happily live in a Lani book bubble forever if I'm honest. She just gives me everything I desire in a book.

Johnny's story was one I've highly anticipated and it wasn't what I expected but it doesn't disappoint.

Johnny and June were both broken characters in different ways and had many obstacles to overcome before they even had a chance at their HEA. My heart went out to June because despite the constant stream of never ending shit she had thrown at her... she was a real genuine character. Easy to relate to, believable and just an all round worldy. Johnny, sweet Johnny was far more brooding than I expected but he reminded me of his father and grandfather. A straight shooter with a dirty mouth yet so sweet at heart. Together they just clicked right. Everything fit with them perfectly and I enjoyed the hell out of them as a couple. The chemistry though!!! Can I just say it was fire.

The story was set at a great pace. There's a little of everything to keep you on your toes but I love that the main focus is Johnny and June. Their progression as a couple and individually as characters is great and believable. It's a rollercoaster but so worth it for that ending. Oh and I do so love that we get a few peaks at older characters and some of my favourites.

I'm so freaking excited for Cora and Coke!!! I feel like that one is going to get real interesting.

Get You Some by Lani Lynn Vale is the third book in the series of standalones, The Simple Man. The previous books are Kinda Don´t Care ( with the most beautiful cover) and Maybe Don´t Wanna.

Welcome back to Hostel, Texas. Johnny Mitchell Mackenzie is ex military, medically discharged from the Army and he´s at the end of hid rope. His family cares be they´re smothering him. He leaves and takes a job at the PD in Hostel. He´s a stickler for rules.
June Carter Common is the towns black sheep. She has a bad reputation and the townspeople want her gone.
June is a good woman, she cares deeply for her grandfather and works hard to make ends meet. And the new police officer makes her blood boil and not inb a bad way. But how do a men of the law and a outcast go together? Both have issues and Lani Lynn Vale wrote them a beautiful and atb the same time heartwrenching story. I can´t say how easily I connected with June and Johnny and I loved meeting some of the Dixie Wardens and their spouses. I greatly enjoyed this beautifully thought out, beautifully written and beautifully told story and give 5 stars.

This might actually be my favorite Lani Lynn Vale book so far - it had all the requisite components (judgmental townies, evil family members, a crazy vindictive ex) but was a bit more mellow than some of the other books and I sort of really enjoyed that. Johnny and June were great together and I was truly sympathetic towards her and her history and was really happy when they finally got together. I do think their initial hookup was sort of abrupt and unrealistic given the circumstances, but all's well that ends well, right? AND... After getting sneak peek of Ain't Doin' It (Simple Man #4) I'm super stoked for Coke and Cora's story! And as usual, every time I read one of LLV's books, I want to go back and read all the previous series because I love how all the characters connect! 3.75 out of 5 wine glasses.

If you've read Lights To My Siren (The Heroes of The Dixie Wardens MC, #1), the H was Sebastian's son.

The plot was ok, mostly because I didn't like h much…although she had her reason to stay at her hometown when most town people treated her as trash, I still thought she can still move to other towns then visited her grandfather when her job was off. As for her best friend, I felt no connection between them.

The way H met h was interested. And I like to read H's parents and his grandfather.

Although I didn't get the ex plot, esp the misunderstanding part. Maybe it did make the story more exciting?

After reading Lights to My Siren 3 years ago at long last, Here's Johnny. Get You Some, which between the cover of the book (sigh.... Chase) and the description and characteristics of Johnny, that is exactly what I would like to do. Johnny has been medically discharged from the Army and feeling at a loss and also suffocated by his family so he high tails it to Hostel to get a job with the PD. An on the job encounter between Johnny and June sets off an attraction neither of them expected and leads to healing on both sides. Their story is one full of revelations, secrets, confrontations and a whole lot of love that comes in one huge Mackenzie package. Get You Some will hold your attention from start to finish and even as a diehard fan of Lani Lynn Vale's that meant I was already in love with Johnny, June will totally steal your heart. The third book in the Simple Man series will take you on a huge chase of emotions but just like his Dad, Johnny will have you weak at the knees and thinking that a ticket might just be worth it in the end.

this story of Johnny and June lived up to that of the original ones.
Johnny ran away to get away from the smothering family that he was dealing with. now he is just doing his job as a police officer, and avoiding the calls fro his family. June is just seen as the child of the towns delinquents, that cant be anything else but like her parents in the eyes of the town. one traffic stop, and these two are brought face to face with one another.
these two dont have things easy for them. which would you expect anything less. not with Junes inability to be touched, and to Johnny's anger and meddling ex. still these are just like their namesakes and fight for their love.

Loved this book.
Lani Lynn Vale has never disappointing me with a book. Her characters really stand out to me and the story feels real, like everything could really happen.
This series is making me think about doing a re read of all the series.
Having so many people from previous books in this one made me think of the first time I read about them.
Johnny and June have both had things rough. Not in the same way, but life hasn't always been kind.
How they come together and fight for each other is heartwarming, and made me not want to put the book down.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Again, a summary that has absolutely NOTHING to do with the book and fortunately xD (the heroine does NOT react like that AT ALL during their first meeting !)
I don't know why but some books by LLV are well summarized and others are completely off ... It's a shame because I skipped a few because the summary didn't appeal to me (like this one !) but now I have my doubts ><
Anyway, I really enjoyed this romance which made me laugh so much : Jude was very endearing (and very strong despite what she went through ! I would have liked to kill her parents !), Johnny was the perfect sexy grumpy policeman (I loved how they kept bickering !) and their romance was awesome (both sexy and cute, which is LLV's big thing =))
The drama with Johnny's ex wasn't exceptional (the kid's shot was a bit far-fetched ...) but that didn't bother me =)
PS: I loved the Hostel PD FB page xD
PS2: I hope we will have books one day with Rosie (the nice one ><) and the other members of Johnny's team !
This is the third book in this awesome series and I think this was my favourite so far and its Johnny and June's story.
Johnny is the new policeman in town and has moved to Hostel to escape the smothering from his family after being medically discharged from the military. He is closed off and just about functioning until he pulls June over for a traffic violation and the sparks between them start flying.
I really adored June, she has been delivered a bad hand with her parents and thanks to them scandal has followed her everywhere in the small town. She was stronger then she thought she was. She lives with this fear of men being close to her but soon as she meets Johnny she feels instantly safe with him. She may have found the man to help her overcome her fears.
I was enamoured throughout this book with Lani's trademark style of writing. She gives us characters that you adore, mixed with action, romance, humour and some serious swoon-worthy moments. On the plus side you also get to see some old favourites from Lani's previous books.
I can't wait to see what she brings us with the next book.
The care, worry and devotion that Johnny feels for June is so intense and remarkable that is impossible not to fall in love with him. It's a love that comes up fast, but there is no doubt of the power or force it has - even when he did one or two things that we want to slap him - and is so beautiful the way he treats June. My heart has melted so many times.
“What did I do to deserve you?” she asked. I grinned and tucked a stray piece of hair behind her ear.
“I think you’ve got it all wrong.”
“Oh yeah?”she asked. I nodded.
“Yeah. It’s not what you did to deserve me. It’s what I did to deserve you.”
June also won me. With everything she's been through, she doesn't give up even when it would be the easy way. She is so strong and brave. And the more she gets know Johnny, more she falling in love with him and we can feel that she has the same devotion and care for him.
