I make bad decisions, but falling in love was probably my worst.
Jules disappears all the time, and I do too. It's one of the things that makes us a great we're both terrible people. But it's been a week and he's still gone. No word. The parents and my friends are all thrilled that his crazy ass is out of my life, but there’s something they don’t know about I don't give up. Jules might be a mess, but he’s my mess, and I’m not forgetting about him. I'm f#cking finding him.
I do what I have to do. I steal two cars, lose a fistfight, and sneak across the border. All my questions and clues finally lead me to a village where people are said to just disappear.
And I disappear too.
When I wake, I'm surrounded by strangers who claim I'm a goddess. They say they've been waiting, and something about a prophecy. Now I have to play along to stay alive.

This book contains scenes of mild fantasy drug use.
I feel like this book stumped me a little. It starts out in familiar territory, and I was able to get a handle on some of the characters, and then it took a turn that I wasn't expecting. The main character is interesting and complex. James uses great imagery and really does a good job of keeping you with the heroine, maintaining her point of view the entire time. The result is the composition of a complex and interesting world that kept me on my toes. I enjoyed the book and I can't wait to see where she goes in book two!
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
The main female character is obsessed with a boyfriend who has disappearing problems. They also do drugs. Not that I have a problem with drugs as an aspect in a book, but this one just seemed like it didn't play a relevant part, but yet it was mentioned.
I only got about a quarter of the way in, but it just did not grab my attention. I wasn't a fan of the writing style in this book. It seemed very confusing and scattered-brained almost.
It could possibly get better as it goes on, but I couldn't force myself to keep going. I read the last chapter and even that couldn't entice me to keep reading.
