Becoming Valkyrie

Rate this book
For Valkyrie Walker, Halloween had never been an ordinary day. It was her birthday and a day that held great importance in her life. The year she turned eighteen, she would realize just how important that day truly was, both to her past, and her future. When a handful of strangers turn up at her town’s annual Halloween festival, Valkyrie is struck with a feeling of foreboding. The appearance of these men will bring forth destruction and death for Valkyrie and the people she loves. But Valkyrie is not an ordinary girl. Plummeted into a world of supernatural beings, it turns out that buried within her subconscious mind is the true Valkyrie Walker, the one who died four hundred years ago. As Valkyrie’s human soul slowly converges with her other self, she finds her body and her appetite changing. Caught in a love triangle with two of the most alluring and sexy men she has ever encountered does little to quiet the darkness growing inside of her. With an age-old prophecy about darkness descending on earth, Valkyrie must choose. Either she fights to save earth and humans, or she succumbs to the dark desires within her. Can she keep the fires of her soul contained long enough to pick a side, and a man, or will she choose darkness and let them all burn?

I live in California with my husband and two awesome kids. I have been writing since I was fourteen. When I'm not writing, I like to ride my horses, play with my Alaskan Malamutes, and watch my chickens. I love reading, art, and I am a helpless romantic. I Currently have four independently published books, and I am working diligently on the first book in a new series.

Becoming Valkyrie reads like a puzzle. You discover each piece through the eyes of a woman who lost her past and her family for several hundred years. It’s an uncommon past, as uncommon as the woman herself. In a dangerous world of Vampires, Witches, Gargoyles and other mystical creatures, she stands newborn and almost alone. There is a prophecy about her, one that nobody knows for sure how to interpret it. Some would help her, many fear her, and some wants to kill her. And yes, I forgot the cat that is not a cat.
It’s a ‘tell’ story, growing slowly and steadily.

this book was like an amazing paranomal puzzle. Valkyrie thinks she's just an ordinary girl until things go sour on her 18th birthday. Since the majority of the book is told first person from her point of view and most people around her don't know exactly what she is, we get pieces as she does. And when she gets most of the pieces, she becomes a total bada**, but there are even more mysteries to unlock that I can't wait for book 2 to find out who a few mysterious characters are and who the real enemies are

If you like vampires, witches, angels, supernatural creatures, and a building romantic tension between powerful, beautiful, and dangerous monsters then Becoming Valkyrie could fulfill your dark fantasies.

The first 33% of the book was not my style and took some getting into for me, the writing was good, but the story set up was a bit eh for me. But then the gates of hell opened and gobbled me up into mush the rest of the book. Finally, I breathed out, thinking YUUUSH the real story has come hither.

Yes, there is nudity. Yes, there is death, and battle. Vampire's tearing heads off, and humans reduced to ashes. There is also plenty of sexual tension for all you book porn lovers out there. Is there actual sex in book one, no, only references to having had sex in a previous life. But I do suspect something juicy in book two... or maybe those are just my romantic hopes and dreams manifested into universe.

I have a feeling that book two will be even better than book one, because the setup is over and the author knows the universe better.

Author Review:
I never imagined I would write a paranormal novel. I have always loved reading books about shifters, vampires, and anything that goes BOO, but I had never actually said to myself, I'm going to write about that< and yet here I am, immersed in this world of supernatural creature, hidden worlds, and underground cities, and LOVING IT!

Writing Becoming Valkyrie has been an adventure. It all started in October, because, let's face it, I am a huge lover of anything fall and Halloween. Valkyrie has challenged me, depressed me, and exhilarated me.

This is, by far, the work that has touched me the most. Valkyrie's story tugs at our heartstrings, her actions cause us to gasp and cover our eyes-but let's face it-we are peeking the entire time if only to see what catastrophe she will face next.

I appreciate everyone who has taken the time to read this story, and whether you loved it or hated it, I hope it touched you in some way because I know it has touched me.

Be sure to check out the next book in Valkyrie's ever-turbulent story, Valkyrie Divided, now available for pre-order.

Great book

The book is very well written and free of errors. I was enthralled from the beginning. She starts a bit slow but wraps you Ina's you go. Although the characters are paranormal, they are easy to relate to. Valkyrie is a character who learns her mistakes as she makes them. In finding herself, she has to learn the hard way. I would definitely recommend this book. I can't wait to read the next one!

Amazing paranormal romance that hooked me from the start!

This story is gripping, and immediately pulled me into Valkyrie’s journey. The plot is filled with suspense, and well paced. Very interesting concepts that give a nice twist to supernatural beings.

I appreciated the great mix of romance and mystery, and how it intertwined with the characters and their growth. Valkyrie is a force, and she has a great depth that made her story all the more tense and spellbinding.

There is so much to love about this book, and I recommend it to any who want a fresh paranormal series. I can’t wait to start book 2!

Love triangles are pretty common tropes. Even love triangles with different supernatural beings as the players. However, when the main character doesn’t even know who she is, in a very real and physical sense, as opposed to a mere philosophical soul-searching, things can get interesting. When you get to the third-way point, things start crashing into reality. I’m a fan of main characters who actually make mistakes and then truly learns from those mistakes. The character arc is strong, and the plot complex and intriguing.

I love love loved this book! It was one of the most amazing books that I have read, I love Valkyrie and the way she is. She's a perfect mixture of funny, dark, and immature but she matures along the way. Don't even get me started on Aaron, he's everything women's dream guy. Overall this book is great and the book progresses smoothly. I'm anxiously awaiting for the second book of Valkyrie to come out so I can devour the book with my burning eyes.

Spectacular paranormal read!!!

OMG! I was blown away by this book!! This story is so unique and beautifully written, I just keep thinking about these characters even when I'm not reading the book! I love a unique spin or twist in a paranormal stopped, and this book has it all!! It does start out just a little slow, but picks up and takes off! I just can't say enough about it! This is a MUST READ for paranormal lovers.

Exciting Dark Paranormal.
I loved watching this story unfold as I learned about Valkyrie’s past along the way, as well as all the action in the main plot. Her conflicts, both internal and external, were interesting, especially as she’s coming to grips with who she really is. I also enjoyed the world created with so many supernatural beings. There were a lot of unique concepts in the book and it held my interest throughout. Definitely recommend!

Becoming Valkyrie is a unique, well written novel. I was hooked from the beginning and didn't want to put it down. It is different than anything I've read. The author gives us exciting, interesting characters. I believe we can all relate in some way to Valkyrie's quest to find her true self. I look forward to reading more from this author.

I really liked that this story was quite different from the typical fantasy novels. The transformation that Valkyrie goes through while becoming her was very intriguing and delightful to read. I don't want to add in any spoilers but I sure hope a certain someone shows up in the next book. I highly recommend this!

Amazing!!

I loved this book! The unique characters, the descriptive settings and the imagination of this author are awesome. I didn't want to put it down. Very rarely do I read a book where it makes me feel the emotions of the characters, with this book I did. I would 100% recommend it and can't wait for the next.
